They just look at the 24/7 before double clicking on it, thats why.

It is sad that threads like this one have to appear on the RP (sic!) server forum.

Yet, I fully agree. I've seen many going in and out of RP, based on the outcome of an interaction. Rules (simple and good as they are) still offer space for many loopholes if one wants to find them.

This kills the fun and charm of gaming experience and it is so much present that I could go around and take screen shots all day long. Which would be counter-productive.

I believe that ''Angels'' should be more active and given a right to kick out anybody who they encounter intentionally braking the RP rules.

I simply don't want to go around and try to explain to the people the nature of RP, as many don't give a damn about what I'm saying and I could get myself in position of being accused of rule lawyering.

Another way would be to make it necessary for anybody who wants to log on to activate an account on the forum. No activation - no possibility to get on server. One forum account per one game account. That way we could get more people getting informed and understanding the RP.

How and is this possible I don't know, as I am not an expert as many of you here are.

Still I want to say Kudos! to all of you who RP like pros. One of You is enough to make it up for the 100 RP-poopers out there. Keep up the good work.

What you do with such people? You simply ignore the OOC and show them how it's done.

Helping the newcomers and lolwuts about how to rp helps. From time to time I try to take as many indies and especially newcomers or "pvp - lolwut" aimable players with me to do some RP missions like the last one in Iota.

Also Keepers and BHG Core people helped me to shapen it, it was a known event for me and for some of the keepers, and we may not have enjoyed the randomness of it that much but half of those indies felt the greatness of rp and asking for more. Some had problems with language but immitating is the best thing humans can do, it is how we learn. If you give them something to immitade without the intimidate, it may work at least on 50% of the community.

Another one, I had another faction friend with me and we decided to RP a bit, one of the "capship lover indy" friend decided to hang out with us. I knew that his english is not good and it is not his primary language but he tried and in time he got better. He wasn't even into any dialogue a month ago except firing on keepers with turrets. Now he joins up to some RP gaming, even if it is in reality just shooting some npc fighters and posting lots of meaningless but fun to write lines. He is now becoming a part of this community.

I am not that old here, only 3-4 months but I am proud to say that I managed to create some good and decent rpers from lolwutters in that duration. If you are here longer than me, you have more experience and those people can benefit from that as well.

Please, don't be so harsh at first step.

I am trying to say something, sometimes, but I know probably you don't understand what I wanted to say. I was invited to join some clans, I refused, because I know there is necessary to good communicate. I can't ensure it. so, I have to play alone.

Tyro, this is simply not true. The fact that you are trying your hardest to communicate entitles you to the luxury of playing with others. In fact, I do think every faction on this server should be honored to even have you consider their membership, from the way you've put across your point here.

' Wrote:I think my main problem with the RP on the server is not the OOC chat in system, but just the blatant lack of the ability to SPELL THINGS CORRECTLY.

I refuse to RP with someone who doesnt even put in enough effort so spell "You."
If someone comes up to my trader and says:
"Trdr halt, or i wil dstroy u!"
Im not going to halt, Im not going to talk, Im going to dock, write down their name, and add it to my "When I take over the world these are the people Im going to send back to the first grade" list.
Seriously, people who cant spell shouldnt be in battleships.

LERN2ENGLISH.

Now, this is an attitude which kills goodwill on the server. It doesn't matter how someone communicates, what matters is that they try to. In the example quoted, it sounds like a person wasn't trying, however, if someone genuinely tries to communicate in English, they have as much as a right to play here as us.

Very recent "Case in point":

C.H.A.M.P.I.O.N., level 5, rather innocently asked what ships were good "in the game"/"on the server".

He was immediately beat down by a few of the more "righteous" folk in New York.

I took a few moments to take him aside (Private chat), recommended he read the items in his starflea's hold, and register on the forums, where he could ask basic questions without being "bullied".

He was very receptive and grateful. I think he'll be back.

Tell that to the people who register and play but feel like because they do they can suspend their rp whenever they feel like and its ok.

That's where 80% of bad examples new players follow comes from.

Example: "I can //ooc comment now in public chat because I DO rp and you are wrong and I don't like it."

I find it disturbing that some people on this server believe that because they have certain traits that others do not have(ingame cash, better RP, better English), they are entitled to more of what our community has to offer than said others.

This is an incorrect notion, as Bacon aforementioned. It is also harmful.

What I find most ironic is that someone with incorrect punctuation is telling others to lose their capital ships because of their poor English.

Well, we here at Discovery may require English, but we certainly do not discriminate.

So, bud, LEARN2PUNCTUATE.

I hate it when people believe they shouldn't RP when I'm trying to RP.

I actually pirated a trader and RPed it out. He replied, "I don't want to RP, so you can go away." I proceeded to attack his ship for refusal to pay 'protection' money. He skedaddled and left it at that. But no matter who you are, you can't blatantly ignore the RP of others if it directly affects you.

I started on this server back in September 08. As it would traded starting out I always ran into people. Even started convoying with others and that is how I met Wayfarer. That has all changed. You do not see that anymore. At least I do not.

People have "pooled" into four systems. New York, Gamma, New Berlin, and New Tokyo. Yes other still move around, but these are the systems where people are "hanging out". Bretonia is like a ghost town. When I am on there is hardly anyone there ever. It used to be a happening place, but like I said, maybe it is only when I am on.

Why am I saying all this. People say trading is boring. No RP opportunities. I say that is bull. Here is a personal example.

I went to Gamma with a cargo of food for the people of Crete. I announced I was in the system to the Corsairs that were present. Upon arriving at Crete there were two Corsairs and one gave me permission to dock. I wanted to create RP so I suggested (as an act of kindness and to be honorable) I could transfer the cargo to their ships so THEY could distribute the cargo to their people. You know the response I received?

Just dock sell the cargo and be on your way. Maybe that was there way to RP I do not know, but why did they not do more to RP with me? Who knows. I guess my point is this, people have congregated to certain areas of Sirius and are more willing to PvP then RP. They may RP for awile but it is only a formality to getting to the fighting. Unless someone comes to "their neck of the woods" some do not get out amongst others to see what is going on.

Trading is all that you make it. You can have solitude or you can engage others as you encounter them. If you are one to stay in a system and never get out you may want to start.

Just a thought.
