FL isn't a 'die with consequences' type game, its been said before

LoL

OFF TOPIC:
This is way out of the discussion, but that phrase, "Stand and deliver" really reminds me of Minsc in BG.

sorry, just had to..

' Wrote:Ok, last night, while as a [Phantom] in kusari I had FireBlade try pirating me without ever seeing him.
So i guess that means you are the server pirate registar and you have to see me before i can pirate? i think not so get off your horse.
Even after I explained to him, about who and what the [Phantom]s are, he continued to try.
It was a bad excuses and stunk of ooc attempts to get out of paying me
So this is for all the players who pirate to read, little hints and points to remember so that you, and your targets, can have fun without flaming each other here on the forums or ingame.

if you can't be bothered/don't want to read it, thats up to you.

1) Pirates DO NOT pirate other pirates/terrorists.
Yes they do
2) You can only pirate when you have a Freelancer, Liberty Rogue, Lane Hacker, Outcast, Corsair, Molly, GC, Blood Dragon, Unioner, Brunschuh, LWB, Junker, Farmers Alliance or Hogosha IDs.
I had a Freelancer ID
(pretty sure thats all the IDs that allow pirating, PM if I missed any)

3) Currently the only terrorist ID is Xeno, on this server 'terrorist' means you can shoot anyone and everyone, as long as you abide by the server rules in doing so.

However, if you don't have a Xeno ID you have to warn, or try to pirate, everyone before you shoot them.

Also, a Xeno ID'd player HAS to try to pirate, or warn, anyone with a Freelancer, Neutral, Zoner or IMG ID, instead of just shooting. This is because of the Xeno NPC faction rep.

4) If a Player has an ID which is listed as hostile to your ID, you'll find the info in the faction infocards, then you can shoot without pirating, however, you still have to warn them first.

eg: A corsair ID'd player comes across a hessian ID'd player, either of you can warn and then engage.

Or

An outcast ID'd player finds a navy ID'd player, again, either may warn and then engage.

5) Until/unless igiss alters any other IDs to be terrorist you still have to warn people before you shoot them.

6) Pirating in anything bigger then a gunboat is against the rules, you'll find it in the ID infocard, Pirating is classed as asking for money or cargo to let a ship go by safely.

So, if you disagree with anything I've posted, say so, but do it politely and state your reasons.

If you think this is complete and utter rubbish and wish to continue shooting everything in sight without having/getting a Xeno ID, then your on the wrong server, go find a PvP one, cos this isn't one.

First point, he's talking about visual contact with you, not some mystical 'OK' you seem to think it is.

Second, since you have now registered on the fourms, I would suggest checking the Faction Status Thread. You will find the Phantom post just below Igiss' initial post.

Third, as a technicality, Pirates don't pirate other Pirates in FL... They just blow eachother up or ignore eachother entirely (Different parts of the universe, only so much space people are willing to travel).

If I hear of another incident where pirates are attempting to screw with us, the consiquences will be most dire. Must I pull up the Orbital Bombardment of Leeds again? I hope not.

This is the real true story of rock and roll; it was not about anything more then, how to live your life, as a gangster, in sartorial splendor, and turning the world into a place where normality would never return again...- Malcolm McLaren

Sorry I do find the concept of the Freelancer ID as a little bit more of a cop-out to the RP aspect, as usual
interaction with the rest of the game will get you a tag of some description.
This being a roleplay server, its nice if everyone here is made aware of your story instead of expecting
people to cough up on your ask when not in visual or sensor range. Makes little sense.
And the Phantoms are terrorists, not pirates ...

@Fireblade what's with the attitude mate? Welcome to the server.... we're happy to have you. Feel free to voice your opinion, but please get a feel for how things are done round here... as suggested have a read of the RP postings (I assume u have read the rules at least)... before going off then we'll all have a much better time.

Marauder might have been out of line with his b*tching (personally I think he's justified in his frustration) but he's been here a while, his opinion does count for something.

Yes i know, i think giving someone a warning over system is a step above warning them before you shoot them, once you are within range, i'll not be doing that again when it concerns [phantom] though

Second, since you have now registered on the fourms, I would suggest checking the Faction Status Thread. You will find the Phantom post just below Igiss' initial post.
ive been registered for two or 3 weeks now and read everything, I dont think being a terrorist exempts you from being pirated, thats about perspective, in my perspective you are not one of my "crew" if you will hence a potential target, being a kill all faction doesnt exempt you from that.

Third, as a technicality, Pirates don't pirate other Pirates in FL... They just blow eachother up or ignore eachother entirely (Different parts of the universe, only so much space people are willing to travel).
firstly, that sounds mostly like an engine limitation to me, secondly there is no logical reason whatsoever as to why pirates wouldnt pirate each other, however inlight of your comments again i'll make no attempts to take cargo or money from [phantom].
If I hear of another incident where pirates are attempting to screw with us, the consiquences will be most dire. Must I pull up the Orbital Bombardment of Leeds again? I hope not.

Technically, gents, and I *AM* speaking as server admin here..

There is no server rule against pirates pirating pirates. HOWEVER

The rules are CLEAR on Terrorists.

They do *NOT* have to warn others. Period. It was never required. Pirates are required to warn first, shoot later. Terrorists can shoot first, ask questions later.

Any more questions? That's the final word as far as DISCOVERY 24/7 FREELANCER server is concerned.

Finally!

Some back up;)

As for the pirates pirating pirates stuff, the only ones I've ever seen try pirating other pirates, both in vanilla and modded FL, are the junkers.

Oh, and everytime I've seen them try to pirate anyone else (mostly rogues, corsairs, a few hessains, an outcast once) they die.

Thats it, the rest just blow each other up to get at the other's loot/cargo.

I've been hunting with the NovaPG not so long ago one night...

They have a nice style, shoot the target to just a bar or so, making it use all the bots/batts, leave it to about two bars of health then ask money to let the target live.

Rather nice idea IMO:)
