No doubt there are Official Factions out there (RM, LN/SA etc) that existed before the 500 million fee came into place.

Now according to this:

Quote:Let me make this clear. No 500million, no official faction. Got it?
-Del

They are not official.

Why should the newer factions have to pay and not the others?
Unless of course favouritism is actively encouraged in Discovery?
We all know it does happen but if nothing is even done about this then well..it's just plain corrupt.

Eh? Well that's a worrying response, especially since I have no clue who it's directed to

It's not corrupt.

It's a rule that was put into place for one reason, and one reason only: To make sure that people give their faction proposals a good thinking through before they post them.

The rule was instituted during a time on Disco when people began to spam the faction creation forum with often ridiculous or unnecessary faction proposals. Right now, the rule still continues to halt the spammage of unnecessary faction proposals.

The community is not going to revoke the official status of certain factions that were created before the rule was instituted because they exist, even though many of them really would have been eliminated by the current faction approval methods.

Linkus, the 500million was introduced long after some of those factions sprung up.

Now I proposed that factions that hadn't paid up go for a public review with the threat of losing official status, I got shot for it. By this very community.

I'm all for those factions that haven't paid to go up for scrutiny again, as they've not been through the same process as the rest of them, and yes I DO beleive that's a double standard. But we could force the issue, and then where would that leave this community?

To be frankly honest, I have no issue with this whatsoever, and I think that many people here would agree.

Like you mentioned, however, Del, it would lead to a ridiculous amount of flamefests and arguments.

In that case, it's perfectly fine to call at least some of the pre-500 million factions sub-standard. At least some, as you said, would not meet the current approval methods.

It's clearly stated that without the 500 million, there is no official faction.
Therefore, they are not official.
Don't know any way around that.

And once more, this isnt about official factions. I dont give a damn if they've paid or not, or even if they're going to be reviewed. What pisses me off is the 'war' admins seem to be raging on any unofficial factions, or anyone who doesnt pay up.

If you dont want unofficial factions to exist on this server, fine, ban us all, see how lively this place is when half the ****ing server population is gone. Or, you could quit being jerkoffs, and let these people post outside of the official faction forums without giving them flak for it.

Actually they ARE official. They've met the standards for when they applied. The Standard has since been improved and almost all of the factions have improved themselves and their faction statuses to compensate. I'd invite you to read the old [IND]Status only Dusty re-wrote it. Most of the old factions that couldn't make the newer tighter restrcitions have fallen by the wayside now. the Jupiter Guild and the DarkWing come immediately to mind.

Tenacity, this is not about your faction.

My point is a simple one.
It has been stated that without the fee paid, the faction is not Official.

Scrutiny or no scrutiny, till the factions pay that they are not Official by the community's rules.

EDIT: Before the rules about pvp encounters all came into being, people still played the game.
Does that mean those people can disobey the newer pvp rules? Simply because they were around before them?

Tenacity this thread is entirely about official factions and the 500 million.
If you want to argue about your war with Admin do it in your old thread or make a new one.
This thread has been designed to talk about a problem that people want to talk about.
