I find it funny that the IND comes under attack for being an Admin faction.
Current active Admin count numbers 5. Which is much less than half our axtive Roster. Some of those non-admins have gotten their place by being very odd but all by showing impeccable RP skills.
The IND is the longest serving trading faction on this server, it's gone through a few iterations, but it's always held RP to be the highest goal, above and beyond the mighty credit, we have three years worth of very odd diplomacies to back up and we have a strong relationship with the Outcasts. The Corsairs are not so freindly but they don't shoot us, and we do haul their baubles for them on occasion. Normally instead of paying a piracy demand. We've blagged our way out of many a smuggling rap, always without quickdocking. We talk it up in eveyr system we find folks in. We've blown up more pirates than I can count and we've been blown up by an equal amount (possibly more). We've paid more in piracy money than most folks have ever seen, we've never ever called in the cap spam to avenge a piracy, and we really really HATE Phate. He steals all our goodies.
Why is it we get beat on for all this? We do exactly what is required of an official faction, we hold ourselves to the highest standard and we seek to maintain that standard wherever we are.
Robert Fitzgerald's post was intelligent and thoughtful which was why I answered it. Baltar's point was misguided and possibly born of tiredness. Cosmos you need to look inside your own house before you level any criticism at anyone. You are not the shining star you seem to think you are.

I like that I opened this thread and found out I am an Admin. When can I start sanctioning people. Look I have been in IND quite a long time now, and I can guarantee you, if more people did it the way IND do, this would be a much better server. Which, of course, is why this is not a thread criticizing IND's conduct. No where do I see anyone saying the IND dont rp well, powertrade, abuse game mechanics, cause problems in general. People of course have found every way to criticize IND without criticizing those things. Adrian earlier said with power comes responsibility, well I think the fact that no one is complaining about the IND's action, shows that the faction is using it's ID and roleplay in the appropriate way, SO WHERE THE HELL IS THE PROBLEM?

If thats the question, here is the answer. IC is a bit of a shady company in Vanilla, and in disco, funding all sorts of ill mannered projects. The are not the nicest guys on the block, they are out there to make a profit, and lets say, if Kusari didnt want to let them do what they there, they might just say funnel some funding into a group like the GC< and would defiantly try and leverage groups like the GMG. That being said, IND is a small, small division of IC, and does not represent the larger NPC faction.
Zelot in regard to your question above, what everyone's problem is. The answer is quite simple, people see the IND as trader who can go everywhere and do what they like (It seems). Cosmos has a point, on paper a trading faction that can dock on lawful & unlawful bases looks like a lolwut powertrading facion. People also see the admins names in it, and recognise only the admin names thus presume that they are an admin faction, they also see your ships at the top of the cash list and therefore presume once again you are just powertrading. They next see that your NPC afilliation is Interspace and thus think that your RP shud be that of Interspace, which would mean that being allied to the OCs would be a no no. But then again they dont know the INDs RP and the IND are hardly everaround for them to see the IND RP. Its all very well the CR having their own ID they are an extreamly acvtive faction with alot of members. On the other hand the IND are a small faction thus, people see less of em and dont know what you guys are about.
It would be the equivelent of the Benitez getting their own ID, they are small and not highly active but have great relations with the CR if they got their own ID and it stated they could base off CR bases, the OC indies would do the equivilent of what is happening here. *COMPLAIN*
This whole dock anywhere thing. We could go and get a Zoner Guard ID, just make us a Zoner faction instead, and not have any of the restrictions we have on our ID. We could go get an Indy Trader ID, or Freelancer, or Merc ID, and be able to dock anywhere and only be limited to 3600 cargo, not a whole lot less than what we have when you consider our ship options. You can use the Whale, most dont as it's stupid to fly. Pirate train is what most settle on at 4200 cargo units, so it's a difference of 600 cargo units. We get a bonus of 600 cargo units, thats about it, so why does everyone think we have this hugely sweet deal?

While in the past I've called for the IND ID to be more restrictive, I have to side with the IND guys on this one. Originally the ID had no cargo restriction, but the admins conceded and dropped it to what it is now.
Yes, they do have a fair amount of privileges, but quite frankly the advantages the ID grants really aren't that ridiculous.
It has finally come to me the fact that:
Admins are players aswell, They want to enjoy their time out of their ADMIN chars as much as we enjoy our characters, Even with the IND ID I must say They deserve it, They put alot of effort into this community and we give them crap in return, So I apologise for my posts and hope you all havfe a good time.
