I noticed that there are pratically no vigilantes around. I find this a shame because it would allow for some pretty good rp I think. (even though the vigilante id has a pvp orientated feel to it imho)
As far as I know there are no vigilante factions, while vigilantes, of all people, should work in groups to stand a chance.
I`ve been thinking about making a vigilante character. so I was wondering, are there more people here who are interested in playing a vigilante? and to form a group of Charles Bronson like we-don`t-care-about-colleteral-damage vigilantes?
There are a bunch of vigilantes in Liberty - BoP| is their tag.
I would love clarification on the "Cannot ally with anyone except other Vigilantes" clause of the ID - every vigilante I see has grouped up with lawfuls and flies around. Also doesn't make sense that they can't hunt in the Omegas and Omicrons, but they can in the Taus and Sigmas.
Edit: Vigilante's on my list of future character ideas. The concept looks fun.
well, the way I envision my vigilante (gang) is like this.
A bunch of angry civvies who are fed up with pirates running amok uncontrolled.
the vigilantes would hunt in packs, chasing pirates and making their life misareble, not caring about any laws or ristrictions. colleteral damage is their middle name. they can either help the lawfulls (why they can`t in the id strikes me as a bit odd) or even get into a fight with them becuase vigilantes are, well, vigilantes.
when vigilantes mow trhough pirates on some vengeance bases quest they don`t care about the safety of others, laws, regulations etc. they only want to achieve their goal: making pirates cry blood for sweet revenge/self proclaimed justice.
also, I think vigilantes should stick to house space.
Hmmm, would one consider Robin Hood A vigilante? If so, I'd re-id my Green Hawk at once....?

I have a Vigilante, but hardly use it. I have to agree with you Fitz, I don't like how they can't work between Cambridge and Stuttgart. Personally, I think they should be able to work in any system that has a jump gate, with some exceptions; Coronado and Baffin don't have one but should be valid and alien gates obviously don't count. I believe this would rule out all guard systems too. It could be an option to forbid the use of jump holes since many people won't know if there's a gate in a specific system (although the enclosed image with the mod does actually highlight the jump gate links).
There doesn't seem to be that many Vigilantes yet... there seem to be even fewer good ones. My RP encounters with Vigilantes so far have been rather disappointing. Minimal RP, annoying PvP tactics like shield camping and mounting far too many missiles on their bombers. One of them flies around in circles while the others tail you and spam missiles non stop, then transfer nanobots/shield batteries when they get low. My impression from them is that they are after nothing more than a PvP fix with minimal RP required, and the ID seems to provide them with that. After all, I couldn't expect a radical citizen to have a chat with my pirate, like I do with the LN on occasion.
The ID is a good one, and the restrictions placed on it should be enough to deter most PvP addicts from grabbing it. I just wish those in Liberty would provide me with more interesting RP before the pew pew. I suppose the more interesting interactions with Vigilantes would come from lawfuls, but most lawfuls don't seem to care about vigilantes. They treat them just like other lawmen, when really they shouldn't be. I'd like to see more attempt from the LPI to stop vigilante forces, like they should be, rather than fighting along side them.
Vigilantes are almost unlawful, or rather taking the law into thy own hands could constitute as a common crime, possibly murder. But on the other hand, they could be helpful towards the local law (indirectly of course given the ID restrictions).
that`s the fun bit about vigilantes, the grey area in which they operate.
lawfulls shouldn`t treat them as lawfulls, since vigilantes aren`t. in fact, they can be considered criminals for a good cause. at best lawfulls should consider vigilantes wildcards in their fight against pirates.
that way you get a nice 3 way rp. vigilante vs pirate, pirate vs vigilante, lawfull vs viglante on occasions. should be nice. and I agree that Omega 3 and 7 should be an AoO for vigilantes.
I`ve been thinking about creating a non-offical vigilante faction, which focusses on proper rp as well as pvp.
seeing as a lot of pirates use Gbs as well, vigilantes would needs Rocs and fighters to be effective. so who would want to join a unofficial vigi-faction and wreak some self-proclaimed justice?
Vigilantes really just don't interest people that much, because it's pretty hard to find the RP opportunity for it.
I've had an idea though about an Ageira tagged Vigilante group, as in, people from Ageira, and they go around hunting people who aren't Ageira or DSE, who are carrying the gate/lane parts, and make them drop it.
