Much better. Now that the render is clear, it has a nice contrast going on between the cyan and the grey of the background. All in all, this looks very good, especially for something done in Paint.NET (no offence intended, of course). I can see this looking good on top of a transmission, I think.

EDIT: Changed my wording to something hopefully clearer now that I can use a keyboard to do so.

(I'm the light at the end of the tunnel? Must be a very dark tunnel indeed =\.)

We're all amateurs actually, Jazz. Except for Victor. But he's gone.

wow, talk about late Dopa, that was two pages back:P

And I would say if your good enough to sell your work (be it for credits or otherwise) then you are no longer considered amature, but hey

Some say that he is allergic to a fungus found only between the toes of Corsairs,
and that he is oblivious to 98% of Liberty Law. All we know is...

He's called the Busdriver!

I'm not an amateur, please, stop treating me like it. Paint.NET isn't exactly as flexible as Photoshop. Anyways... Neutral colors with an emphasis on blue. Color scheme + element of art. Marvelous.

*sigh* Thanks, Overload. You're the light at the end of the tunnel these days...

Better?

But how do you determine who is amateur or not?

I know I am one myself. I never studied in media art for sure.

And this has nothing to do with what you are using or not. It's about how you arranged your components. No, not everything needs to be monochrome, but an overly standing colour in a majorly two tone colours stands out a lot, and in this case, for no particular reason.

More like 2 posts back.

Anyway.

Novice: Someone new and not exceptionally talented to something
Amateur: Dabbles in something, for fun, etc. Sometimes a novice, sometimes has skills of a professional.
Professional: Does it as a career. Almost never a novice.

Victor is the only one who I am aware of who was actually a graphic designer. I don't really count credits as getting payed since you can't buy food, etc w/ them

*sigh* Alright, I'm not a novice by Dopa's definition (good definitions, by the way). I just don't like getting slammed on everything I do by the one person who basically owns everybody's sig - especially since its mostly based on something that I had no willpower behind (i.e. the Avatar thing); and in this case, for something that isn't really meant to be 100% artistic.

Like I said, it was meant as a precursor to messages posted. A herald to 'transmissions'. A glance into Freelancer as what might be displayed if somebody saw this in reality. I'm afraid that this crew member of Vigil's Flight didn't take into account what he was wearing on picture day, and thus didn't think about blue on a black-white gradient.

I was thinking about this literally - for a practical purpose. Not within the realm of artistry, but in the realm of my imagination thinking about what something would look like if it were real. Thus, while attempting to maintain balance, I paid less heed to the traits that would acompany say, a sig, than what I would if I were making say, a sig.

... Now does it seem more respectable?

I just wanted to correct that. He doesn't own mine, or Dopi's, or Ench/bligthers, or ect ect. :)

Telling someone what's wrong with what they've done is what criticism is. It's not personal. If we told you what to do instead, then it wouldn't be your own art anymore. I usually give a couple ideas of paths to go down, but I never say "Put this here, get rid of this, and make this red." Even if it's what I would do, it's not necessarily what you should do.
We're not slamming you, we just see lots of areas where you could make things a bit better.
