I had another one of my stupid ideas: What if we had armor that drew off your power plant? It might take less cargo space, but would make you lose some power regeneration. Thoughts?

interesting but what kind of advantages should it offer compaired to normal armor

and I think that if your power usage exceeds total capacity you will loose engines (Zoner whale with full transport shields firing heavy CD... can cause engines to fail)

Yes, that is what would stop people from using a battleship shield multiplier on a starflea.
EDIT: The advantages would be (A) less cargo space used, or (B) More armor for the same cargo space. With the disadvantage of less power regen.

but what should it do to augment the ship?

maybe it increases shield regeneration by 50% ? coding wise I am unsure if that is possible

could we get an armor specifically designed to be protective against certian weapons, like how positron shields stop tachyon weapons

That sounds good. Half the power, double the shield? And, yeah factionalized armor sounds even better.

Rather than armour that drains power, why not consider the concept of an emergency shield?

In the event the primary shield fails it can kick in and draw of of the energy supply exclusively. That way it has a limited lifespan, with the possibility of excluding it from making use of B/B.

why not remove all the armor once and for all, saving everyone billions of credits in useless investment

*shrugs* every fighter has MK 8 now really... capitals are the only ones that have some variety in their armors... but that's only because of the prices and what not

I do have a MK 4 or 3 armor, but that's on my CSV

it's just really trying to add some variety with this new armor idea...like how we have different type of freighter shields (High capacity low regen/Low Capacity High regen), but I think no one really notices this
