The actual idea isn't bad, nor is the way it is being RP-d.

What is bad is that it wasn't discussed with any zoner beforehand. Jinx was told after the initial attack, and other than that, nobody. I wouldn't have minded if I wasn't told, some things are nice to be kept a surprise. But to not consult mal, who has been the 'leader' of the zoners (CoZ,SHIZL,TAZ) for a long time now is very poor form.

Furthermore, you had good opportunity to make this a 2-way event, especially now the Zoner response team has been formed. But as it is, it seems to have been designed and played out, ONLY by the keepers. The idea itself isn't the problem, it's the way it was played. Out of order.

My Paranoid self says that it seems as if the Keepers kept this quiet (i.e., did not announce this...) so they hoped they would not encounter any organized resistance in their nefarious plans to destroy the Freeport. Do the job quickly, dirtily, and silently, I suppose.

I'm going to make this one last statement and then clear out because it seems that the thread is bound for super spam here.

--The Zoner Council roleplays to the max. I said this before but, we don't so much HIT A FLY without RPing the hell out of it in our thread. Ever possible decision we make, we scrutinize and make sure to report it in the forum for everybody to see.

This is rather ridiculous. I'm not sure if this is "fated" or not, only that Igiss has agreed to change the mod if/when anything happens. You guys want everything to not be elitist? Why don't we just spell out every RP plan, even those "secret" ones, and put them up for public review. Know how much would change then? Nothing. It's bra static mod due to the general partisan bickering that I've been witness to and, truth be told, I despise and try to avoid.

It's a gorramn game, can't we get along here instead of trying to "burn the elitists"?

Yeah, this is pretty much how I feel having learned a fraction more about what is going on now. Seems, how to say, the idea was fumbled because you decided it would be better not to tell anyone it seems.

Honestly, I don't see the problem here. Factions change the mod every day (well, not every day, but you get me.) Even now, the only thing that's 'changed' is the frequent freeport attacks. Nothing more. No modding has been done, no planning, no nothing. If people want to halt the process of expansion, and keep everything nice and cozy just the way they're used to it, then I honestly don't know why I picked this server when I first joined it.

Edit : On the whole subject of the 'Not telling anyone', why should one bother to tell people about something that doesn't realy matter at one point. The fact that we didnt make a shiny thread saying 'We're doing this or that!' is because we first wanted to talk things over on Skype with a certain group of people.

There's a big difference between a Zoner fleet steamrolling Iota when no Keepers are on and a Nomad attack on FP11, the primary one being that if you got within weapons range of the Nomad base, weapon platforms would kill you.

The important differences being that defenders from FP11 seem to materialize from thin air and that the Nomads are the ones more likely to launch offensives, in-RP. The Zoners are "holding on" to the station, as Mal made perfectly clear. Well, scratch that, he made clear that they'll not defend it. My bad.

I dont think you needed a thread, you needed to tell the zoner faction leaders as they are just as involved in the RP of this as the keepers.

I dont mind their being a change, I mind that the relevant parties werent even included in the discussion. I think if they were, this thread woouldnt have become quite as crazy with all these rumors and accusations flying around and people wouldnt have gotten so pissed off.

I'm not sure I understand this whole thing, Nomads attacked FP11 while there was no organised defense? Any faction can do that. Why the Nomads would target one group of humans over another but I guess that's another issue.

I don't see what's wrong with the Nomads attacking any human installation (be nice if a RP/PVP defense could be organised before it happens) what worries me is changes to the mod have been discussed and I have no idea what these changes are and why they are proposed, I've read this thread and don't see them, what am I missing?.

They were to be incluided at a later point. Namely when I had all the Skype contacts and we could organise a Skype four way chat. Simple as. No damage done yet, since all we did was launch a raid or two on the Freeport. That's it. Basta.
