First up:
Ships can apply for SRPs that deviate from the norm.
without reading the forums, these can be confusing,
and people might sanction report, wasting time.

New Hardpoint for all vessels:
SRP Badge.
It is an INVISIBLE HARDPOINT
much like armor upgrades, scanners, IDs, etc.

Admins attach an SRP Badge to your ship when you get approved.
It cannot be jettisoned. and if possible to make as such, not tradeable.

Next: Ships have armor *UP*grades, amirite?
of course I am, so now...
how about a DOWNgrade?
(no this is not retarted, bear with me)
For those of us who love to complain that the max transport size is 5k, this is for you:
Cargobay Upgrade, is an item hooked to your Armor upgrade hardpoint,
It hollows out more space on your ship to allow more cargo to be hauled at a time.
The penalty of this is that you *lose* armor from your base armor.

Finally: Extra External Power-Supplies.
Don't we all love how we can stick armor upgrades on our ships, and make them last like there are more than one of the original ship present?
Do you hate how with that, you still can't stick out the cannon to 'splode people like its two to four ships?

This is for you:
Powercore enhancers.
Use some of your overall powercore capacity.
Energy regeneration is increased by this device.
It is also outside the ship, so if your shields go down,
they could very well 'splode your enhancer if they aim true.

The maximum level of Energy Enhancement devices would be 2.5 multiplier for Capital ships.
and 1.75 multiplier for Gunboats and lower.

and these devices would be very expensive.

Nice suggestions, especially the power generators are very useful, i think.
I would like that to be in the upcoming discovery version.
I've also an idea.
When you can upgrade your armor, why not the shields?
I mean with armor upgrades you can get your ship very strong, but you always lack in shields.
So, why don't put in kind of "shield enhancers" which are adding additional shield points and increase regeneration?
Or special shields for Bombers and SHF?
;)
Just an idea ^^

First up, what are SRPs?

Second up, I don't think cargo enhancers are really possible, at least not without conflicting and messing with the anti-cheat.

And as for power enhancers, ships have been ballanced to operate with a certain power core, this would just become another armour upgrade where everyone would use the most powerful one, in effect simply upping the cost for a complete ship.

I like the idea of offering an item (or several) that somehow provide the player with other types of benefits in exchange for downgrading or limiting armor. It might decrease the amount of MK VIII upgrades flying around.

Special role play i believe.

I think the special op ID is sufficient myself and helps prevents sanctions.

As for the power things, I dont think so. Power generators are integral parts of ships, they cannot merely be tacked on. And if they could be expanded, you certainly wouldnt want to mount it on the outside of the ship as its destruction would most likely do eithe catastropic damage to the power system disabling your ship or would explode, potentially destroying the ship. Finally, there are enough people already who dont want armor upgrades, I dont think another upgrade is a good idea, especially one that would require all ship power cores to be re-balanced.

The Cargo Upgrader sounds fine for me.

Special RP tag is my favorite idea from the bunch. It should help identify unique RP situations without people freaking out.
