As long as you don't create an FLHook to enforce these rules, I don't care.

But you need to keep in mind that RP exceptions happen all the time.

Another thing you need to realize is that short of a programming feature (FLHook), you won't be able to stop lolwut powertraders. Just a fact of life, pal. The folks at TAZ, Consortium, and most CoZ in general roleplay properly and if it came down to it, I would rather let powertraders run lose than punish the Zoner player veterans.

Well, to be honest, yeah the guys in TAZ, CoZ etc are good, but because of that, can't say I've ever seen any of them with zoner whales docking house bases. It only really hits people who are 'doing it wrong.' Plus the BWT would still be allowed to run riot, yeah? I think groups like OSI mostly use the BWT for their house routes already anyhow.

Saw a Zoner Guard trader in the Whitney Ice field holding a full load of Cardamine/Artifacts and heading towards the Texas JH. When I said in role-play "Since when do Zoners smuggle?" or something like that, all he replied was "Shhh".

Another problem is that Sindroms has told me we can't/don't tax Zoners, so it's just a code to get out of taxing.

I fully agree with the changes you've suggested, and hope they can stop this problem, or at least make them legible to being taxed again:P.

I agree.Zoners should stay out of most house systems and bases.
After all,that's what means to be a zoner.
This will aslo put and end to most of the Zoner Guard slavers and smugglers.

Yes we at OSI use mainly the BWT, since it makes more RP sence for us to use that ship. If the Guard ID is restricted, then it will onyl affect a few of my transports anyhow and I can come up with new routs specifically for them. Not that big a deal.

Now I think Zoners have every right to be in house space. The houses manufacture stuff that we need and we have stuff that they want. If you look at OSI's trade routs you will see thay all start and end at a zoner base. Thats how I think a zoner should be played. A zoner traders that makes runs only in house space is OORP. But a zoner trader that comes into house space to drop off some zoner made items and then makes a small run to another station, to grab stuff for a freeport is well within RP.

Restricting the ID will help solve the flood of whales running about, but the power traders will just move on to other ID's. Some will go corporate, which is better and more in RP, some will go junker. They will still be there, just not on Whales.

I am still all for the change and agree with dab, although maybe adding cryer and planetform to the list since a main zoner export are Alien Organisms could be added.

The difference is, there are real reasons for this. If someone were to suggest a restriction that there wasn't a need for, it wouldn't get passed.. Notice, I'm offering this up to the community for their decision. In my opinion, there aren't going to be any more legitimate calls for more restriction, as this'll fix the only problem our freedom has created.

Actually, this leaves Zoners with the Omicrons, Omegas, Sigmas, Taus, Independent Worlds, and systems in and around the houses that are -not- controlled by the government, such as Inverness or Coronado.

However, the idea of having too much freedom and making too much money strikes me as being odd from a Zoner perspective. I would think that finding routes with an optimal profit margin would be within role playing parameters. Especially for a faction that lives to trade.

The difference is that the Zoners, as Derkylos' quote shows, left the houses to live in the Border Worlds. Intentionally left the houses so they wouldn't have to deal with them.. Why would they then turn back and go in there again unless absolutely necessary?

By making it Whale only you can simply say that everyone who does not fly a Whale is not a "true" Zoner, allowing other RP opportunities to develop instead of clamping down on Zoners with ID restrictions.

And then what? We have a flood of ZGuard ID'd Adv. Trains and Heavy Tankers flying around, with no RP at all? Sure, we can call them 'fake' Zoners, but what good would that do? We already do that to many of the rule-breaking and OORP ZGuard ID traders and it hasn't fixed anything. If it did, I never would've suggested this.

Yes, powertraders will be around.. But they will be spread out. Plus, they can't change their routes as easily as they could before. You won't be seeing Republican Shipping ID'd transports trading Cardamine for example.. This stands the chance of getting some powertraders to learn to RP their traders, and encouraging those who already know how to RP to do so. Furthermore, it'll eliminate the OORP routes being run. Such as Zoner 5ks running Cardamine to Manhattan.. Zoner 5ks running Gold from Dublin in Bretonia to Kusari.. Etc.

I thought about Planetform, but there are plenty of places outside of the houses to transport them. Plus it'd be nice to let Planetform players transport some of those Alien Organisms themselves. PFI has very few routes to run in this version. ZGuard transports can still take it to Ames RS and Planet Harris for a high selling price, or Hudson, Baffin, or Bering for a middle price.
Cryer has only two bases; CRI and Atka. Atka is in the Sigmas, and thus is available. CRI is a fairly restricted station in the first place, outside one of Bretonia's main planets, where they conduct research.. So I don't see Zoners given permission to land on it..

hello there,

i am relative new to this community and don't want to displease someone, but i think it is a wrong approach to solve this problem. this will only handicap the role play of the serious players, and maybe spread this problem. wouldn't it be better to force the powertraders to RP? i think the "unlawfuls" can do it. isn't it more elegant to solve this problem with RP on a RP server? please correct me if i am thinking wrong.

not a single person knows what the term "powertraders" actually means. - oh, everyone has a vague idea of what it means to him/her - but there isn t a single definition of that term.

but in one thing - we re all united - we all think that "powertrading is bad" - ( whatever it may be ). when its powertrading for one person - another person might think of it as intense RP - who s right, who is wrong?

furthermore, there is no difinition of what is a healthy proportion when it comes to shiptypes, optimization etc. - again, everyone has a different point of view. - no one can tell if having 50% of all transports on the entire server being zoner whales is bad or good. it might be bad for one person - but another person might say ... "thats how it ought to be".

when it comes to supplies and traderoutes in general. - who can say that a zoner "would not make the occasional trip to new london to pick up luxory food" - and to be a bit more efficient than a small transporter - of course, they send in the biggest they got, cause whats more risk - making two journeys with a medium sized transport through the edgeworlds? - or making one single tour with a large transport.

it just shows that whatever is decided is purely subjective. - zoners are a heterogenous and diverse community who s only common denominator is to have left the core systems to live in the outskirts. - that doesn t really mean that they don t go shopping in the big city.

you find many people that buy a house and settle outside the big cities, cause they don t like the noise, the crowdiness etc. - but these people still get in their car every now and then to drive into the city.



now - the new ID proposal disallows it ( or rather .. .labels it to be "bad RP" ) - "driving into the city" can still be done with a normal zoner ID... - however - it will force players ( those that don t have countless accounts ) to create a cloned zoner IDed char - maybe even of the same identity/name.


right now - i do somewhat agree with the changes ( having talked about it on skype ) - but i still have my doubts about it. - i would like it to run on probation for a months of two. - if things get better and the players do not suffer from it - its fine and can stay. - if things don t get better - or if players suffer from it ... it should go.


decisions shouldn t always be made with a definite "yes" or "no". - nothing speaks against "trying it out" first - nothings lost to run it on trial for a time and see what it turns out to be.

As derk says, zoners have no presence in house space. The entire point of the faction is that they aren't in house space.

Have you read the Zoner/ZG ID by any chance? The line saying we can be pirates is in there, twice, just for added emphasis. If that is what the LR- has decided, do not blame the Zoners for the fact you cannot "tax" us.
