If you feel you need to use the player list... Um, look for "pirate" levels from 45-70 (fighters to cap 6 gunboats). Pirate name as well.

Better yet, just fly around and look using your scanners. Escort traders and you'll be bound to find pirates.

I use the player list to find out where people are and contact people not on my scanners or not in the same system as me.

(I know that I will PM Beyond.the.jumphole if seen in-game, or a respective player faction of the faction my independent is representing in order to get invited into group chat.)

However, asking for information as to the affiliation of people on the list is pushing the meta-gaming too far. (This is an opinion, feel free to set your standard as you see fit.)

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

I agree, the player listing was a bit too far, yes I used it but when it was taken down I understood it was for the better of the server.

My point is, we shouldn't condemn others for metagaming, since we all do it. Metagaming is also when you look at the player list IN-GAME and search for a faction tagged player so you know where they are. Metagaming is also when you know a certain "name" is a Pirate and thus you search for him/her in the player listing. (Possibly a bounty hunter scenario.)

There are many kinds of metagaming, some are more extreme than others. Like using a program such as Datastorm or FL-Companion (which I both use). I know ALOT of people who uses it, but refuse to acknowledge it in Forums just so they can preserve whatever virtual respect there is, it's that kind of stuff I find really pathetic.

I wouldn't ask people what faction they are, "Hey, what faction are you, if your a pirate i'm coming to kill you!" I just needed something like what Robert said (thanks by the way).

[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

Exactly, when you are house navy or Police, just patrol the systems, you are bound to find a pirate somewhere.

And it is probably more fun then just sitting around looking at a list...

Patrolling by yourself is boring. Patrolling with others is fun.

The thing to do here is to read the employment office and note down all the folks named in bounties you can collect on. Seem like a bit too much work? Then patrolling is your only option, or hunting factions only.
