Salvager is now a Gunboat

As per admin ruling, the Salvage Frigate is now classed as a gunboat. As it stands, it is large and inagile and has no CD. It has a transport shield. Aside from pulse/razor sniping it's still highly vulnerable against bombers, and other gunboats eat it alive.

As rules have been revised to classify it as a gunboat; can it either get gunboat shields, a CD, or both?

In that case, yeah, they should at least be able to better defend themselves now that they don't have any protections.

For those not in the know , this means that every lolwutter can "ENGAGE RED" us on his Battleship.

It does sound a litle unfair to classify something with the size and turning of a cruiser , the guns of a gunboat ( and on that note , 6 of them) and the armor and shields of a transport a gunboat. If it is going to be considered a Gunboat , it best get a buff along the lines of what Rudo pruposed.

I'd have to agree here. Its a bit outmatched--by everything. Classfying it as a gunboat really hurts with the bounty types who can now blow your transport up with a cap ship and make you stop trading for four hours as it is "technically" a gunboat.

And regarding the Recycler, I think personally just a little more power is really needed. I fought a morph the other day and had tried a SNAC (not anticipating a morph). I counted--if three shots hit my hull unshielded, I could not fire the SNAC because of the energy drain. That's a bit too weak.

If it's a Gunboat, it definitely needs a gunboat shield. CD would be nice on top of that.

The hold size is balanced against it being big with a small powerplant, I'd say.

if that decision is final - i can of course fix the salvager...

but i m a bit at a loss why you guys decided that way. - being classified as a transport was perfeclty fine. - when its a gunboat now, i ll reduce cargo and boast its offense abilities.

I agree with Rudo here , lets focus on the Salvager. This is a particular issue I forsee I will have alot of problems with in case it continues.

Back on subject , I kind of doubt that the ship would get a CD, as it would make it the best pirating vessel available.
