The last one didnt go over too well, so I went a different direction with the design on this model. I know it doesnt have rheinland textures at the moment, like I said in my pirate turret thread, I dont have access to FL texture files yet. Anyways, critique away:

It has three turret hardpoints on the top/spine, one on each side inbetween the windows, and one underneath just behind the scoops/intakes. Single engine at the rear, with two of those circular generator things common to rheinland fighters just in front of it.

Hey,

Yeah, I dont know much about unioners myself, but I just cant understand why would they need an assault transport ? And yes, it is missing the rheinland texture files.

I like it. But...for unioners? I think it looks kinda Kruger...or Dauman (Im amagining Rhienland textures on it). The back engine, to big perhaps? Maybee put three smaller engines inside it.

It's really a gunboat, I used the term "assault transport" to indicate that it should have more cargo space than the average gunboat, so the unioners can pick up cargo to take back to base. I've grown to like the idea of pirating cargo instead of credits =P

i like the model, looks really good if i imagine the greenish rheinland textures on it. if my math is correct you want to put 10 transport turrets on it? how is its size compared to the pirate transport? i think that is the ship we need to compare it with, lots of cargo and enough firepower to pirate other transports except for the liners. i think it would be great with about 2500-3000 cargo and 8 forward facing turrets and a cd. perfect for cargo piracy.

Actually my thinking was more along the lines of the junker salvage frigate.

6 gunboat turrets, one is rear only with 4 to each side, five forward. Around 2500-3000 cargo space, roughly the size of the normal transport (the one just labelled "transport"), with around the same armor as the BHG gunboat, 50k or so.

You can't understand why they would need such a thing because you don't know much about them, as you have said yourself. Unioners do pirate, a lot. And they mostly do it by extorting cargo, so they would put an assault transport into good use.

About the model, it looks good but the texture might be revised. And just a note, it can not be a gunboat but a transport since Unioners already have a gunboat model that is being worked on.

Stats on this thing should provide some decent cargo bay and a reasonable firepower to be an effective raider transport.

sorry, but the texture is horrendous. tenacity, if you use 3ds max, you should be able to map textures onto the model perfectly. also, its much better if you use freelancer vanilla textures instead of custom textures, that way once you finish mapping the textures on, all you have to do is link the mat file to the model via ini's. since this is meant to be a unioner transport, there are no rheinland textures used whatsoever, thus giving it no rheinlandy/unionery feel at all. kudos to yuri who did the extracting, ive got all the fl ship textures extracted in dds format and prepped to use for texturing purposes. if you wish, i can send you it via pm, and explain which folder it goes in if you dont already know.

sounds interesting, i absolutely support the idea for more cargo piracy abled transports. final stats are something for the dev team anyway. i think this would be great addition to the unioner shipline, although i think it might be really sad to just give it to the unioners, why not make it available to a wider playerbase by making it a rheinland pirate transport for hessians and bundschuh or soemething like that. this way we would see some of them in space if it gets into the game. cause in my last year on disco i saw a total of 3 unioners. i think giving it to the hessians and bundschuh would make more sense since they have the playerbase to actually put that ship to good use.
