Just as a quick note, I'm currently re-doing this model to alter proportions and add in a few other suggestions on general shape and design. It will look completely different when I release the new one, so hold onto your panties for the time being.
Now on to specific points:
Quote:1. Its very sleek. Where all the other junker ships are boxy utilitarian
Boxy and Utilitarian is the textbook description of the junker faction, buddy. You dont drive a sports car through a junkyard to pick up parts, and you dont fly a sleek shiny spaceship through a scrap field to collect metal.
Like I said before, if it's a shiny, quick, aerodynamic ship design you're looking for... you're in the wrong faction. Sorry, but that's how it is.
Quote:2. Its engines are far apart. I know myself prefer two engines about the width of what about what an A-wing in star wars has, this is a very unique look. Compared to the single engine (if you put a couple engines right together they are gonna just blend in when the engine effects start going) the double engine just sets it apart compared to three engines close together.
The new design i'm working on has the engines at the backs of the two pylons shown on the current model. They will have about the same seperation distance (slightly more) than the current bulldog model.
Quote:4. Its fighter jet looking. The bulldog doesnt have the same goal as most of the junker line. Its the swoopy speeder of the bunch that has no role but killing and looking good.
Once again the fact stands that the bulldog is:
a) an import model
b) has a very lame texture job
c) does not look like a junker ship, does not look like a freelancer ship, and does not fit in with the rest of the junker shipline
It's going to be changed. If you want a fighter jet, go buy a raven's talon.
Quote:Can I texture it?
Perhaps, but i'm really trying to learn how to do the texturing myself =P
Here's some shots of the new model, there's still a lot of detail pieces I need to add. Just need to know if you guys think it looks better or worse than the original variant:
Looks, good. But then....the engine rear wings looks fragile. Fragile meaning if a Torp hits it it poofed, (but thats RP matter). O ther than that, me want!
' Wrote:Maybe the bottom could be a bit more angular?
It looks too smooth to be junker made, or fit in with the others
since it's all the same color, the shader kinda blends it together. There's more detail on the underside, it'll look better when textured. Here's an example:
It's got a big cargo bay door on the underside, there's also weapon mounts on the left and right sides of the cargo door, and the cruise disruptor mount up under the nose of the cockpit.
EDIT:
Also, keep in mind that this thing is probably going to get an infocard change to show that it was produced by the Gallic junkers, so it will have some different design influences than the sirius junker ships. My goal is to make it look like a junker ship, but look like a junker ship developed in a house that's been cut off from sirius contact for a few hundred years =P
ok, another update, added a few details:
-Torpedo tube to the right of the cockpit
-Salvage claw to the left of the cockpit
-Changed weapon mounts
-Added piping from the tanks up to the back of the cockpit
-Added antennae to the forward portions of the pylons
Still trying to figure out what to add to the outsides of the pylons (on the left and right outer sides, there's piping on the inside portions of the pylons). I was thinking a big wrench to one side and a welding machine to the other... =P
I like everything you've done so far. Would it be possible to add both of the main ship bodies that you've created so far?
On this most recent reincarnation, I would suggest more detailing on the panels. The sides of the hexagon look rather smooth right now, and while texturing will help, detailing couldn't hurt. Perhaps just inset the panels a bit, just to reduce the large smooth faces.
Anyways, looks great.
EDIT: I swear to god, those pictures changed! It seems different than I was thinking, thus I specify. Specifically, I refer to the space between the torp tube/gripper arm and the sides of the ship. That 45 degree angle part of the hexagon. It just looks blank.
