Yes, although you don't have to go THAT desolate. There are plenty of systems with almost zero traffic, but that happen to aquire a few visitors now and then. Omega-50 is one example, although I wouldn't go there due to it being very Zoner inhabited.
Still, may places to claim and haunt. There's also a system adjacent to O-Minor where navigations go askew. Very nice for ghosting.
' Wrote:I have no idea why people are flaming these ghosts? How about instead of flaming (looks at Dragonlancer) you give ideas of how they can improve..
By far the most influential flaming in this thread has been done by the ghost ship players toward those that have been trying to give them constructive criticism. Quite frankly, they remind me of children around 11 to 13 years of age in their inability to react appropriately to constructive criticism. If you read the entire thread, instead of skimming through, you'll see it is full of people trying to help and getting flamed for it by the ghost ship players.

if you can help them improve their RP *thumbs up*
from what i read here the RP part is the issue.. and its something we all learned one way or another.
I have been following this thread since the start of it, and didn't reply up until now, because i wanted to give you all a chance.
The feeling i now have about the purpose of this thread is to just inform people about what you're up to, and expect them to happily accept your roleplay ideas and play along. Well.. thats not how it works. Some time ago there was another new faction that walked the same path, they ended up being at war with everyone, until admins decided that enough was enough. Due to this, they are still not accepted by the majority of official factions, despite their efforts to make it work.
I had the same questions as most people pointed out in this thread, and the answers you provided are nothing more than a socially desirable response. I experienced some of your roleplay first hand, and in my opinion it has "capwhoring" written all over it. One of you chased a passing trader through no less than 8 systems, with the intention to destroy his ship, just because he questioned your roleplay. I also encountered one of your ships in the middle of rulelawyering and telling people to get out of gamma. Not only hostiles to the corsairs, but corsair players aswell. I simply don't see why a roque ghost ship, that happens to have corsair roots, is lawyering people around, while they could be collecting the so badly desired souls.
Personally i hope you don't meet the required souls, so you'll have to spent the rest of eternity in the Underworld. If your attitudes won't change, then don't expect any kind of roleplay from me. I'll just roleplay being incapable of sensing you and your ships, and continue my own path.
My suggested grouprelations and guidelines:
Ally:
none
Neutral:
Corsairs, Order, Gaians, Farmer's Alliance, Hogosha and all affiliated player factions, Zoners (Shoot in self defence only!)
Unfriendly:
none
Hostile:
Everyone else
ZOI:
Corsair space.
In roleplay you probably won't need to dock, ever, since you're ghosts, but oorp you should dock only when no one is around, or dock on freeports, where everyone is allowed.
Roleplay actions:
- You don't interact with anyone through system/local chat, unless it involves soul harvesting. (So no commanding people around).
- When someone is clearly talking to you, you respond in a vague and spooky way (somewhat like the nomads).
- When you intend to harvest souls, you make it clear in system chat. You may react with text, but keep it vague and spooky (somewhat like the nomads).
- If a corsair tells you to leave, you respect their wishes (specially if it's one of the faction higher ups). You don't blow him up because you disagree. You were corsairs yourself, so you work on a code of honor.
- Don't expect everyone to play along.
No thanks. Freelancer is a science fiction game. Yes. there is space for some psychic paranormalities, but only within the borders of a sci-fi frame (see: crazy experiments, Nomad telepathy). Ghosts do not fit a sci-fi theme. Ghosts are fantasy.
why doesnt this guy have his ghost ship, whatever BS he wants, but it should be aligned to nomads or phantoms, as they're our most implausible factions with the added benifits of it making the ship hostile to everyone and only able to land at a few bases, and i certainly wouldn't want to see this in NY at any stage.
removes zoners from the occasion completely, and you can harvest ANY human soul in sirus
I'd be completely happy if it turned out this way
Edit: i mean no disrespect for phantom or nomad players at all, sorry if it came off that way
