Ok, so the Griffin is the next LF evolution in the Civilian line yes?
But it uses the Hawk model.

Several other ships in Discovery do this, and I hope there won't be any tears shed if I make a slightly new model for all of them. Something based off the copy-cat ship, but visually different enough to show its an advancement. (some will be a large change others not so much)

Since they would still use the same .mat file it would not largely increase mod size, and while some hardpoints might have to be tweaked due to shape changes, the balance of the ship would remain (no adding/subtracting guns etc)

So without further ado, my first target; the Griffin.

So I worked especially hard on the new model.

Topside gun mounts moved to the underside of the wings, and the chin mount for the CD was moved to the dorsal area.

Comments? Critique? Suggestions about this ship or any of the forthcoming others?

I intend to finish them all then submit them all in one fell swoop.

Keep in mind, until submission happens these cant be considered my 'final products' they're still prototypes as it were;)

The whole idea is great I think. Ive always wanted someone to do this :). Good luck with the project, making all those models will be a difficult task indeed. I suggest maybe a poll before you do certain ships that alot of people use on how much they want it changed.

I like it, very nice job keeping the vanilla look while altering it enough to be easily recognizable as a new ship design.

Thats doable, but then who wants their Wrath to look *exactly* like their Valkyrie anyways? :rolleyes:

Xenos? egads! this is a sleek ship for use by civilized pilots :P

Just kidding! Though not about the sleek part.
Its kind of meant to say "I am THE pinnacle of design flare and technology in the CTE line even if the Eagle is more powerful"

As for how long this will take, that depends on three things.

This ship for example took me less than 2 hours total working time.
The Vulture design I have now (see the appropriate thread) took about 3.5 to 4 because of the texture mapping.'

In short, if it were not for those three factors and if I had a clear week with no life to worry about I could get it all done inside that week. easy.

Griffie here needs about 15 more minutes of mapping work and tweaking and modelwise she will be ship shape and Bristol fashion.

So... what do you guys want to see 'tricked out' next?

Every single Mk II Fighter, both LF, HF and VHF have models that are exact replicas of their Mk I fighter.

Patriot > Liberator
Cavalier > Hussar
Drake > Wyrm
Banshee > Phantom
Dagger > Scimitar
Hawk > Griffin
Legionnaire > Decurion
Piranha > Sea Serpent
Bloodhound > Hyena

Plus all the HFs and VHFs that have Mk II versions... as you can see all of them use the same model. So I say no to this replacing the Griffin, but it will make a great addition to the Starship line. Starflier, Startracker etc.
