New Server Up and Running

I have just gotten the server up. It is running on our dedicated box and its pretty nice now, we need more peeps to come on and help test cpu useage and lag issues.

The name is: Discovery 24/7 HBF TEST

Ip: 69.65.39.17

Current Disco version: 48.31 THIS SHOULD BE THE VERSION YOU GAME TELLS YOU. In game! other then that its beta 1 or whatever.

once we make the server official I will rename the server,

Went and had a mess around on the server at around 6pm my time (GST +8), made everything in sight aggro to me.

Not much in the way of gazzeling ect, but then I was the only person on.

Pinged server shortly afterwards: 232 ms average ping.

Pretty good ping from where I am, as good as the BK server for me in fact.

Mind you it could be a completely different story once there are 20-25 people on it.

EDIT: Must have missed the poll Fellow Hoodlum is talking about in the following post, but dedicated takes it over a shared server any day.

Josh, maybe missing something here. We had a poll and I believe it was decided pretty much that Majkp
would be hosting the Official 24/7 server when he is able to build the dedicated box.
Read 'dedicated.' Not shared with several other games.
There has been a discussion concerning your server stats elsewhere recently, with Korrd pointing out some
technical details.
Also your current attitude around here has suggested that you really have little interest in Freelancer, as you
have quoted Eve as being a much better game.
So in short, I personally would be a little unhappy with your being in contact with MY player files, and I hope
that both Korrd and Igiss will be thinking along the same lines ...
They have been moved rather illogically and thoughtlessly enough recently, and I want them to sit with either
of our admins till something permanent is situated.
Those of us of a less transitory nature are quite happy to wait until this happens. We have time and effort
invested in both the files and the forums, to show a little patience round here.

Aye, you don't strike me as the best person to be messing with the last few months of accumulated FL. I'm just as happy to wait, and nothing was ever said about you hosting the official server. If you want to have a disco server, go for it, but the official one is still gonna be hosted by majkp, last I heard.

@Josh: Notwithstanding the comments of the two gents above, whose opinions I place in high regard.... I gave your server a try over the last hour.

Ping = ~235

Little or no gazelling.... I could easily hit Xeno Starfliers and Patriots, even my missiles were on target with hardly any delay when fired. There were two instances of redding-out (lost connection), each lasting a few seconds, then connection was established again ok. Note that I was the only one on, except I think Mick was on as well for a while.

Well, my ping is excellent (155ms average, a little better than Wolf's, that was 163ms) but I wander what will it be if it gets to 15+ players... and... player files moved around so much:nono:not to mention your last 50 posts Josh.

Josh, thank you for bothering to even try hosting that is a good gesture and scores a few points in my book.

But I feel like waiting for Majkp to get his server ready, and as others have said it will be only for FL and not other games. Dispite the ability of your server to host so many things at once etc...

It just makes me wonder how will it handle a fullscale group of players?
