Subject: A fine day
Today was a major victory for the Front.
The miners have run rampant, paining us with their constant transmissions of pure static and rather uncultured manners. The Rogues have been itching to fight them, so we allowed them to do so in Magellan right outside of the Kansas jump hole. Lieutenant Rusk then got the bright idea to deliver the pirated iridium to Belfast. He completed two runs before he became bored.
I was in the middle of rather important paperwork aboard the Belisarius when I received a distress signal from Captain Crompton about two unruly Liberty capital ships in our system. The Liberty Blast and the Liberty Split decided to attack us. Foolish. I gave them a firm order to depart which received the response, "Make me." This was not only foolish, but instead down-right stupid. Our bomber forces had already engaged when the Belisarius coasted forth and proceeded to tear about both ships like rusty beer cans.
Immediately after the endeavor, we received a communication request from Mireille Ceyes. She informed us of her heritage and reason for fleeing into Kansas. I found it amusing that she was both ex-LSF and ex-SCRA. Two very secretive black-ops organizations. Executive Commander Rossini arrived on the scene and had a chat with her. He seemed trustworthy, so I shall follow suit.
Captain Crompton interrupted our chat with reports of activity in the sensor network around the Virginia jump hole. The fleet was assembled and sent to RV at the location, awaiting any hostile forces. Two vessels, an Upholder and a Guardian, jumped through, looked at our vessels, and jumped back. Knowing Liberty, we knew they were going to call in for reinforcements. We proceeded to the resident Smokey Hill Dark Matter cloud in order to throw their sensors off. After an hour or so of idle chatter and the confirmed report of no LN vessels in Neo-Terran space, we returned to Boadicea for well-deserved refueling and rest.

Subject: Good news
It's been a good day for the Front, and it's time I made some long overdue announcements.
Firstly, it is my honor to promote Lieutenant Vayrn Wyard to Lieutenant Cmdr. You've served the front with courage and dignity, and I trust you'll continue to do your very best to uphold what we stand for. In addition, you've been authorized to use four of the A-30 Lane Hacker "Hellflurry" Tachyon cannons, and a Bayonet class heavy fighter should you choose to do so.
Secondly, Ensign Henry Matthews is hereby promoted to Lieutenant. This is the first big step every member takes in the Front. Congratulations.
We've recently traded the Hellfire Legion some experimental technology for access to thirty six of their A-30 Hellflurry tachyon cannons. Rumor has it that these are being replaced in the near future, but they'll make due for now. Anyone of Lt. Cmdr. rank and higher can request a maximum of four of these from I or a Commodore.
The TAZ have just completed their repairs on our science vessel, the NTSV Hinton and Captain Crompton is on his way to Shasta along with the rest of the crew to retrieve her as we speak.
Last but not least, I'd like to welcome a new member to the front. Mireille Ceyes is a fugitive, ex LSF and SCRA. She's been through a lot, so try to treat her with the utmost respect.
That is all, Executive Commander Rossini, signing off.
At approximately 0300 hours, I received a distress signal aboard the Belisarius from Gresham's Roc.
The transmission was very garbled but I was told there where at least three gunboat class ships after him.
When the Belisarius finally arrived on the scene, we observed a small fleet of three gunboats, two bombers, and two unidentified vessels bearing a "Bravo" callsign who did not open fire.
The gunboats and bombers did not heed our warnings and call off the attack on Gresham, completely and utterly mutilating his Roc before I even had a chance to finish my sentence.
The intruders insisted that Gresham had opened fire first, providing no evidence to back their claims up, at which point I ordered the Belisarius' gunners to lock onto the LNS-Champion and tear its hull to shreds.
This was achieved by a well placed mortar shot, and the remaining gunboats "Thresher" and "Gorzura" were dealt with swiftly afterwards.
The remaining two bombers broke off and made for the Magellan hole. Once we made sure they were gone we limped back to Boadicea.
Overall the Belisarius sustained moderate to heavy damage, but not on any vital components. With some Iridium, scrap metal, and nanobots we can patch her up just fine, but as far as I'm concerned we got lucky. Remember people, the Belisarius is all that stands between the powers that be and junction, which still isn't fully operational. If the Belisarius is crippled, then the NTF is done for.
Lucky me we'd gotten a new shipment of Rocs a few hours before the incident. They claims that I fired first is false. I ordered them to leave the system, which they refused. I pushed the matter further and they decided to 'silence' me. I inflicted light damage to one of the gunboats before being forced to flee. Unfortunately, they all had those devil-missiles which tore me apart from behind.
I've got some burns, and a sprained right arm that was wrenched when my ship exploded. This is just pathetic and humiliating for the Liberty Navy. And here I was hoping we were on good ground again. They prove to be as murderous and barbaric as ever.

Subject: Invasion
Of all the things that I have seen and imagined, this is by far the most ludicrous. These common vigilantes think they can solve the 'problem' in Kansas by swarming it with ill-equipped gunboats and bombers? These captains should lose their ranks for the reason of sheer incompetence.
I wish that I had been there, but I am still in Omega-49 visiting with Doctor Holliday and discussing about past matters that we had discussed before the Cassus Belli joined the Front. I am returning to Kansas and enacting new patrol patterns that will not allow this to happen again.
Signed,
Commodore Jake Ryder

Subject: Mission Report
A rather eventful patrol, which began with a battle against another one of those stubborn Outcasts. For a change this one flew a Falcata rather than one of the blasted Tridentes. Until the point where I joined the combat against the Outcast, Lieutenant Alan Gresham and Lieutenant Henry Matthews were engaged in combat with it. Due to an electronics failure Gresham momentarily lost control of his ship and was shot down by the Falcata. Thankfully he escaped and a recovery crew was dispatched from the Belisarius. Upon arriving in the battle, the Outcast began making multiple attempts to escape via tradelanes to California however just before he eluded us Lieutenant Matthews and I managed to score a shot that shredded the Falcata to some floating scrap metal.
After this we ran into a Clydesdale and a Guardian, both of which were HDMS tagged. We were curious as to how they managed to get a Guardian, a highly guarded vessel which is not sold to civilians. They claimed to be of 'Danish' descent and having been taken out of stasis for the first time since the 23rd Century, from 'a dark corner.' I took their word as an attempt at humour. At this point, a 101st Outcast vessel, 'Vince Piccio', or to be more specific, a Sabre appeared and came within proximity to us. Also present at the time was a Lane Hacker Borderworlds DL Transport.
The '101st Outcast Sabre' Vince Piccio in the Foreground. Also visible is Lieutenant Commander Vayrn Wyard. Outside of the guncam's vision, to the right, is Lieutenant Henry Matthews.
Things were not as they appeared with this particular 'Outcast' vessel. Static and multiple haunting communications were transmitted from the vessel. We spent a while trying to work out what it really was, the intentions it had. Multiple theories, including pranks, LSF spy drones, Nomads and even a ghost ship were brought up but none of them truly fitted it (with the exception of the ghost ship theory)
For the most part the ship was non-aggressive, however a foolish iridium miner (piloted by another one of those bloody Harris syndrome infectees who plague the system) provoked the vessel and was destroyed after commenting on the vessel's weapons systems in the typical way that most infected with Harris Syndrome communicate.
At around the same time another ship, a Borderworlds Transport by the name of Siberia, a known miner, was flying around asking for directions to the backwater system that is Humboldt. During the lengthy round-about way in which we discussed the location of Humboldt, the mysterious Outcast vessel left of its own accord. The Siberia finally located the Humboldt jumphole of its own accord. After this we returned to Boadicea station to finish the patrol.
I would recommend an investigation into the electronics of all our vessels, to prevent malfunctions which resulted in Gresham's ship being shot down again. I thought such malfunctions were gone for good with these new engine tunings and overhauls but it would appear that they haven't been completely ironed out yet.

Greetings, sirs. I am here to write the official report of the mining.. Fleet, is the best word, that was just destroyed in Kansas. Fleet really was the best word, as it contained the following participants
Upon being told to leave the system, the Shire ordered their forces to open fire. I quickly returned fire, and seemed to inflict the killing shot on Jonathan, the Liberty Gunboat escort. Gunboat destroyed
I switched targets to the Shire, who seemed to be in command. It was easy to pulverize it with a few SNACs and assistance from my wingmen. Kaboom
The Big Dragon tried to flee next. Two SNACs later, pow!
Finally, when I returned to the jump hole, a Virage Vigilante appeared and engaged without any kind of warning. A SNAC to the hull solved the problem. Sploosh
Uh-oh.. Liberty Navy has arrived. I have to cut this report off. Until next time!
This is a grim time for the front. While the invaders were driven off with minimal losses, it just goes to show how organized the miners are becoming. In addition, the Liberty Navy primary fleet now knows we have a formidable presence in system, even if the location of Junction remains unknown. From this point on I'm going to issue an order that no Neo Terran pilot is to fly alone, under any circumstances. This is to reduce losses and better secure Kansas.
Moving onto a brighter subject...
Due to his exceptional kill count, and ferocity with which our borders were defended, Lieutenant Alan Gresham is hereby promoted to Lieutenant Cmdr. You can request up to four Hellflurry tachyon cannons and a Bayonet class heavy fighter if you choose to do so.
That is all, Executive Commander Rossini, signing off.
Anything for the Front. You are my home and family now, and I will give it my all to protect. I am honored by this elevation in rank. And forthwith, I shall always bear a fighter or two in escort.

Subject: The Order
Rescued pilots
Seems one Outcast we shot down had six members of the Order in his hold. Captain Crompton and I saw an opportunity there to show some goodwill towards the Order, so we set course for the Edge Worlds - the Captain in command of the Hinton and myself in an Eagle.
The route taken was as follows: Magellan, Leeds, Dublin, Omega-49, Omega-47, Omega-41, Omicron Theta, Omicron-74, Omicron Kappa, Omicron Delta. The journey was uneventful and very quiet; only one miner from the Molly Republic even queried our presence. The only trouble we had was about fifteen klicks out from Freeport 11, where some Nomads (//NPCs) appeared. They were dispatched and we quickly continued to the Freeport, which turned out to be guarded by a huge Zoner warship.
While there, the Captain managed to establish contact with, not just a member of the Order, but the Fleet Admiral of the Primary Fleet, Tovig Kelt. A cruiser was brought out to retrieve the six rescued pilots. It also took on board the Nomad remains we had picked up. The Admiral inquired as to our goals, and about Kansas; he was told the usual, and additionally that small Nomads can sometimes be seen passing through, and about the gate.
We returned by a shorter route: Omicron Kappa, Omicron-74, Omicron Theta, Omega-41, Omega-11, Omega-5, Omega-3, Cambridge, Leeds, Magellan.
The Order's visit to Kansas
A considerable number of Order ships - largely fighters, with a gunboat - later entered Kansas. The bulk of them proceeded to the Tuttle Creek cloud, with the gunboat, designated OCV-Gugnir, remaining in Kansas. The Executive Commander and I went to investigate the cloud, though anomalies and a sudden increase of the gate's gravity well prompted us to depart. As we were passing between the stars, the EMP wave that had struck caused the Commander's engines to give out, and his comm systems had messed up just before that. A system-wide broadcast was made, and the Captain of the Order gunboat, one Kell Tainer, responded to it. The gunboat came and deployed tow cables, and the Commander's Broadsword was brought back to Boadicea, and there it landed on the Belisarius.
Mister Tainer filled us in as to the situation, but he had lost contact with the Order fighters, which had seemingly jumped through the gate. They had reported radiation, and a station, on the far side, and had gone to land on the station, from which point there was no further contact. The Order vessel's Captain was then told about the NTF, though this was interrupted by the arrival of a repair ship to perform maintenance on the Belisarius, shortly after which contact was re-established with the Order fighters. We shall hopefully receive details of their mission in that system.
They jumped out of it, and found themselves in Pennsylvania. They proceeded from there to Zone 21, Alaska, and finally Omicron Minor. The OCV Gugnir was still in Kansas. The NTSV Hinton and NTF Suralin - Executive Commander and Commodore respectively - along with myself provided it with escort to Zone 21, with the only issue arising being a lone Guardian that tailed the Commodore for a time in California. We cleared the Zone and made it to Omicron Minor. There, some issue arose with pilots referring to us as 'pirates', despite Mister Tainer's words to the contrary. We departed, and returned to Kansas, using gate and lane codes provided to us by the Order.
It is my understanding that the Order wishes to deploy a wing of fighters to Kansas. I expect we shall hear more from them soon.
