Tweaked the story a bit (the last paragraph of "The Family Creation" and the first paragraph of "The Family Establishment") which should cover any logical loophole.
Also put any Outcast-ally that consumes or distributes Cardamine actively to "Unfriendly".
Meaning, the Liberty Rogues and the Golden Chrysanthemums. However, we will probably never meet these two factions anyways.
Quote:Would make a good RP event to have them jump a large shipment of cardamine.
I could volunteer my Unofficial faction for this,.. sounds like a great time, and if you don't want a Legion of 101st attacking your faction for attacking outcasts.. VR might be a good solution:P
And from my skim-read of the text, it looks like you have some interesting and unique ideas there, I like it:)
Alright, I'm going to go through this and give my opinion. I always like to see new factions, but before I say anything like "Yay more factions!" I'm going to point out some issues that I see.
Quote:The Don took his own life by taking an overdose of Cardamine.
I may be wrong, but I don't believe that it is possible to overdose on Cardamine. I even checked the Wiki, which says that since it is impossible to build up a tolerance, some just fly totally immersed in cardamine. That tells me that it is highly unlikely that cardamine use kills a man; rather, it is the lack of cardamine that kills.
Quote:Therefore their best chance of survival was to seek refuge with the Red Hessians disguising themselves as the real Outcast people of the vessel.
Now, I'm unsure what to think of this. Considering that the year this all claimed to happen was 720AS, it's more understandable. Today though, I think it'd be in their best interest to actually say "Hey, the Outcasts enslaved us. Can we hop on board with you?" The only faction in Rheinland that currently has any ties to the Outcasts is the Hessians, and, as far as I know, it has changed from ally to enemy. This might only be a vendetta against the RoS, but it is something to keep in mind. Something that I hope you're already quite aware of.
Now, for your equipment and allegiances and such.
I'm first off going to ask that you drop the Bundschuh/VF to at least neutral. There's no hiding the fact that you are not native Rheinlanders, especially with titles and names like Consigliere Fat Padrone. Until you have gained our trust, we won't like you. We won't like you being in Rheinland, we won't like you performing acts of extortion, etc. To put it simply, you're in our home now, and you'll play by our rules. You have to earn the respect of the Bundschuh before you can even consider using our guns or calling us your allies. I imagine it is similar for the other Rheinland Unlawful Factions, although I cannot officially speak on their behalf.
From us, you are likely to receive a response somewhere along the lines of "Get out of Rheinland," or being shot at. Not sure which, but we very much dislike foreign powers coming into Rheinland. At the very least, you'll be treated as highly suspicious and be subject to much scrutiny.
Personally, I think that the idea of a Sicilian Mafia in Germany is... silly. Of course, my closed mindedness when it comes to other's RP is one of the reasons why I'm not one of the deciders when it comes to this stuff. While I welcome new factions and groups and such, I can't give the group my fulfledged support, at least, not yet.
I am also very interested in reading Blodo's response to this, once it comes along. As the RHA is our greatest ally, if he can come up with some full endorsement, it'll likely shift the Bundschuh's views of your group in your favour.
After a more thorough reading of this couple of comments and ideas.
Do you actually have yacht named Santini? If you do then you could use it as a base of operations. Just move it from system to system and use the allied bases for actual launching points. To me The Family sounds like a small group of rather independent pirates, so using the Santini as a base is plausible. And this would be something that sets you apart.
I'm also having problems with Vogtland being your main base because it's kinda taken and secondly (and more importantly) your ZOI is stated Omegas and Omicrons. You need to travel quite far from Vogtland to reach Omicrons. How about "taking over" Casablanca in O-47 and parking Santini there? A suitable reason for exchange for Hessian "protection" is to keep the O-47 safe from Corsair and OC incursions...
The great thing about having Santini to be your armory and base is that you can move about. You are still supposed to be on the run a bit from the OC, right?
About the age of your group. Why does it have to date back to some hundred years? There are no rumors anywhere to support it, because you don't exist really. Why not make The Family be like less than 5 years old and play it real time and see where it goes? Leaves your options much more open. This would mean that you could fly IFF-less under normal pirate IDs, but having the Hessian equipment at the moment. And with the forged deal to keep O-47 safe it would be plausible even. The Hessians are basically more or less ideological, but at the same time very practical lot too. They would not rather see you messing up Rheinland proper with your extortion racket, but they are certainly happy to enlist your men to fight the other enemies.
Rashnok is right. You should stick to your patron group equipment only (Hessian atm).
And if things are looking more brighter (or things grow sour with the Hessians) elsewhere to set up your shop, just engage the cruise engines in Santini and go and forge a new (temporary) alliance with some other unlawful group to get weps and ships from them. Nobody has done anything like this before. But to pull it off and make powers to accept this you need a solid and tight back-ground, solid RP in forums and in-game and the main idea and modus operandi which you can follow in any part of Sirius. Extortion, smuggling and piratism is good basic to build on.
Sorry if I stepped on some toes here. You have an interesting concept, but I feel it has potential for so much more than one more pirate group.
ps. Rooster = cock as opposite of hen, you might correct that before it goes to print;)
I talked to Blodo before making this group and he approved of the idea and let me use Vogtland as our base of operations. The reason I chose that base was for pure Role-Play reasons. However, in reality we use for the most part the Red Hessian base that exists in Omega-5.
Your opinion of the Sicilian-wannabe-family being silly is something I would agree with and I would like to remind everyone that this is not a official faction proposal nor is it to be taken very seriously. It was merely my attempt at trying to inform people who have encountered our characters of who we are and what we do.
@ Looqas:
We don't have a "Santini" Yacht to use as a base of operations we consider our family to be part of the Red Hessians now days, anyways.
The reason why I chose the year 720 A.S. was to eliminate the "Red Hessians are hostile to Outcasts now your story follows no logic."
Also, the Family respects the Red Hessians and their appointed leaders and will of course ultimately take orders from them due to being so dependent on their resources for survival.
@ Bjorn:
Talk to Alpha3 or Lucas. I don't play anymore so I can't help you.
