Ok, so I'm still new to the whole modding thing, I can make decent 3d models but I have no clue about the other half of it... actually getting things into the game, modifying graphic fx, etc. etc.

Now, I dont mind doing the work by myself, but if anyone wants to help out, it'd really be appreciated. On to the explanation...

Right now, The Order uses a variety of mish-mashed graphic effects and weapon models. I want to remedy this, by adding all-new custom gun models, turret models, projectile effects, and engine effects to Order ships. The idea is to build on the theme of reverse-engineering nomad technology to make better ships and equipment, while keeping an egyptian-style theme to the models.

So here's the list of things that I plan on doing, hopefully before 4.86 so they can be added in the next update:

1. Remodel all Order Capship Turrets (Order GB turrets, Order Cruiser Primary Turrets, Order Battleship Primary Turrets, Order Battleship Secondary Turrets).

2. Remodel all Order Fighter Guns (Reapers and Death's Hands)

3. Give new projectile firing effects to Order Gunboat, Cruiser, and Battleship Turrets - a blue effect that mimicks the current effects used by the Reapers and Death's Hands

4. Give Order capships new engine effects - I'd like to use the 'pulse' effect of liberty caps (the effect the osiris currently uses) on all three caps, but change the pulse color to blue instead of white, to show nomad-like technology being used.

Now, I'm working on the new capship and fighter gun models, but I dont know how to get them in-game, I dont know how to animate the cap turrets (cap turrets can turn 360 but also point up and down... can anyone explain, model-wise, how this is done?), and I dont know how to change weapon or engine effects. So if anyone can help me out here, it'd be appreciated.

Yes I did make them, but I didn't have time to finish the wireframes..

And at least Order doesn't have basic white ball projectiles as the BHs..

Anyways, I'm a bit stuck on design here, this is what I've got so far but I'm not entirely happy with it - if anyone has suggestions on general weapon design, cough them up. I was trying to go with something similar in shape to the Goa'uld weapons from stargate, considering they have a decidedly egyptian feel to them...

I don't think that style matches Freelancer or the Order at all. When you design it look at already existing weapons and ships and match and accommodate the style.

Its rare that you can just rip a new design out and throw it on.

I have a good idea so I'll give a shot at making Order BS/LC/Cruiser turets tomorrow, but I ain't making wireframes for em..
