Disco has more and more groups with a special agenda that do not fall in the category of anything available.
LRF is just one of them
What I suggest is we include in the future an Activist ID (could not come a better one in short notice) that lets you play the more RP geared characters spreading whatever message they are trying to get through.
To set some limits and define it a little better.
An Activist ID is admin given only with approved special group roleplay story? Possibly good or possibly free for all depending on the restrictions in the ID.
Requirements: A good concise goals and defined place in the working of the house they operate in. Anyone not willing to go through the magnifying glass is not serious about it enough.
Flyable ships: Civilian Fighters, Bombers and Freighters.
ZOI: The house they operate in.
The difficult part is of course defining friendlies, neutrals and hostiles.
This is just a raw idea, but could be worth pursuing.
Your opinions. Is it needed, too difficult or what?
Well, that would suit my ideas of two Rheinland groups:
Church of the Green Eagle Zealots
Fanatic Kanzler followers, who persecute the infidels.
Rheinland Nationalist Movement
Hate everybody but Rheinlanders, kind of ambilvalent vigilante.
But yes, I think this ID is worth a longer discussion.
The only problem I see is the group affiliation, which is not obvious at the first sight. It would require special IFFs or something else, to identify the activists and the groups they refer to. Just using no IFF or Freelancer IFF isn't good in my eyes for this thing.
I'm for new ID's only if they can't fall under any category that isn't already...
But honestly, you can keep it in Civillian ID, just mind your level =)

Good point really. One minor thing in it is that civvies are usually seen only those who do not know any better and as such dismissed by other groups almost altogether. On the other hand it is not a very big problem, since they need to make themselves known by RPing in the place.
One thing is that I don't see civilians taking more aggressive stances towards the other groups habiting the same space. So the civilian ID in my opinion excludes the more radical groups.
The IFFs, or lack of them, are a problem for many IDs. I personally favor no IFF over anything else in case you can't fit any. With /droprep it's very easy to keep yourself IFFless nowadays.
Not all activist people want to overthrow the current leadership though. Gaians being one example. But IDs, Activist and Revolutionary, have their place though. Activists usually have a pet peeve against one company. Hackers have started that way.
EDIT: On a side note. I read Bjorn's answer and have to agree. Disco has a lot revolutionaries, BUT the Activist ID could be a stepping stone next official Faction. Sort of screening ID to separate the ones who have a future from those who does not.

I'm all for it ... already got a character that fits the ID to a tee. The Activist ID is similar to a Civilian ID in the since they're disgruntled civilians who are fed up with governments and corporations but have chosen not to move completely over to the dark side.
My character lives mostly in Liberty and flies a civilian fighter. As for reputations ... they can be sympathizers with unlawful groups while maintaining their civilian status. Many activists consider some unlawfuls as "freedom fighters" for their causes. Gaians are eco-activists in a sense. So an activist living in Bretonia might find themselves sympathetic to the Gaians cause while not actually becoming a Gaian ... thus they would be neutral to friendly with both Bretonia and Gaians.
can you give some example what your acitivist group would do?
definition of activist is "One who takes an active part, usually as a volunteer, in a political party or interest group.", so, doesn't this falls under category of factions?

this pilot that is sympathetic to gaians and bretonia could form bretonia faction "treehuggers"...there's no need for new id...
We are all dying -- and we're gonna be dead for a long time...
The Activist ID would be for all those who have an agenda that do not fit with any existing agenda (ID), be that Homegrown Association boycotting Synth Foods due to huge amount of allergies that synthesized food causes, Friends of the Gallic Wine or Johannes Farb for the People's Kanzler movement.
Really anything that puts them at odds with some other group in smaller scale than the current IDs. Usually a group of people with less resources at their disposal than the current established ones with smaller agendas too.
