the bounty hunter bomber, roc, havoc and other such manuverable bombers are just stupid.

I run a private modded disco server (have for many years) and while the dynamics of game-play are different due to the number of players (fewer) and mods. I just thought id offer an alternative solution to the bomber nerfing Ive read so far.

We made them maneuver like hf and vhf, Dropped hull points a significant amount gave them bomber shields (mod - more shielding basically). The end result, for us at least, was a ship that players used specifically for bombing. They still tore up caps and could give a very good fight to the fighters but basically ran like little girls when they ran out of batteries. Fighter pilots were happy, Cap ship pilots were happy and Bomber pilots were unhappy but could live with it. As a side note we tried it the other way eg less shield more hull and it worked the same but the bomber pilots hated the hull damage sound.

Now I'm not suggesting this as a solution for your server since I don't even play there but its is one that worked for us and I thought it would be something you might turn in your head a few times.

Y'all do realise that the Barghest is easily torn up by a volley if he gets within range? That's because of his low turning and slow speed. The only saving he gets is from the Freighter shield.

Now we do that to all bombers, especially the ones y'all seem to consider 'light' bombers for some crazy reason. Sure, fighters can hit them a lot easier. They can also pound their arse with missiles. However, Capitals will be able to do the same. Srsly, think from all directions when you're messing with theoretical balance. One change will affect more than one aspect.

Bhudda, It does not matter who is happy as long as everything is balanced.

I personally hate 4.85

Does anyone care? Nope. Thats why I constantly play the real versions (4.70's - 4.82)

If its in the best interests of balance, You really have no descision. This is finally coming up, it was delayed for so long because of all the bomberwhores that seem to be around here...
