This is all legit, just kinda sucks for me since my college isn't one to have it availible. Admins don't worry, Microsoft would hunt me down and force me to repeatedly appear in one of their anti-apple commercials if this wasn't legal.
And since I had it pass on my desk, I figured I'd be nice and spread the love!
If you have an MSDN Academic Alliance account, and you might well have one if you are a university student, you can get a free copy of Windows 7 Pro x86/x64 and the valid key.
1. Search for your school on MSDNAA ( http://www.msdnaa.net/search/schoolsearch.aspx )
2. Check the software tab to see if it is offered.
3. If you do not know your MSDNAA login/password given to you by your university, request the password be sent to your username (which is usually your student email addy).
4. Login and download your copy.
I can't tell you of any nice restrictions, can't tell you of "student limitations," all I can tell you is that my college is left out of everything that could help it's students! *sniff*
' Wrote:I get it, although I already have it (RC).
"Remember expiration dates: Please plan ahead for when the RC expires. You'll get two weeks' notice, and then beginning on March 1, 2010, your PC will start shutting down every two hours. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. To avoid interruption, you'll need to rebuild your test PC to replace the OS with a valid version of Windows, and reinstall all your programs and data before the software expires." - Microsoft.com
Our university is part of this MSDNAA group and they offer SO much stuff, it's just rediculous. All kinds of VIste, Windows 7 and even Server 2003, which is great.
But!
Meh, I use XP64 and am fine with that. If you need just the copy of the Win7 image, I will start my FTP server here and you can load it.
Nice Find
My brother's University and his department is included in the list.
Maybe I can squeeze him to give me the account to download Win7 32-bit:D
Edit: Wow looking at Avaliable software at the school campus. Alot of software. Including Win XP 32/64 Bit, Vista 32/64 Bit and Win7 32/64 bit and alot more. Wow
