I just bought an Intel Pentium Duo Core 2.6GHz, 2GB Kingston DDR II, ASRock G31M-S Mobo with onboard 390MB GFX using that until I get my next payday, unable to afford the card.

So my question is, which PCi-E cards are worth getting, this is my first motherboard without AGP my old card was a geforce 7600GS

So need some advice on cards please

ummm, for Vid cards.

I did hear that ATI cards with X6XX (x being number) are mid range, X8XX are high range.

As for Nvidia, I do not know. I recently switched to ATI after my 7600Gs silent blew up...

I currently own a 4650 from ATI, with the 1gb hypermemory. Didn't get to play a lot with its settings, but I do run most popular games without hassle (CoD 5, BF2, Crysis (not max settings though), Farcry 2 (Max, cept dx10), Bioshock, Oblivion, Fallout.)

pci-e has replaced agp slots on motherboards, any video card is worth it as most onboard cards are the bare minimum needed.

Works great for me.

Varyag is correct, the GTS 250 it is inexpensive, and works quite well. i myself have a GTX 260 core 216 which is a step up, also from Nvidia. i absolutely love it. not a single problem so far. both these cards are very reliable and will run most games out without a hitch.

BFG 9800GTX OC 1GB is around 120 on newegg. Requires 450W.
Great card by reading the reviews planning on getting one myself when I get my new parts.

the 9800GTX is getting a little outdated, but still is a good card. erm, dont get the BFG when you get a gforce card, go with EVGA or XFX. they work the best and have the best customer support. XFX also has a double lifetime warrenty
