Same here Seb., but it reminds me for something which was in Star Wars. :P

Anyway, isn't it a bit dark? All civilian vessels are lighter.

Its a 'civllian' ship built for uses much further out specifically for mining surveying and protecting mineral interests. :cool:

Besides, its not made (I emphatically insist) by the same people as the CTE line nor did the CTE corporation participate in its development or construction in any remote way.

To that end I decided on the darker coloration and sort of 'black and yellow' scheme as well as making them all 'odd' (even 'ugly') shapes.
I also just liked the darker colors and 'odd' shapes on the original HW ships.

There is something to be said for a ship that visibly puts function before form from an out-of-game aesthetics perspective. :)
Also, I just desperately want non-house/faction ships that break the mold on the traditional 'civillian' ship mentality.

But anyhow, heres a picture with all color and texture sapped out;
If you do have any suggestions these are the criteria;

1; suggestions for new mats must not be the CTE texture mat, a pirate texture mat or any house specific/related texture mats

2; suggestions for new colors must not involve a 'light' 'creamy' or 'beige' primary color. Light colors are allright for the secondary color.

To clarify, the area thats been yellow in previous versions is the secondary color, everything else is primary.

This is the new Dacite concept... I enjoy it alot. Keep in mind its still rather stage-1 so to speak.

Its not the same shape strictly speaking, but I do see the resemblance. I don't think its bad though. :)

As I said before, these are supposed to be very odd-ball ships. They are built to have function first, and in a sci-fi universe it isn't always apparent how that would look.

Over the original Dacite, I changed the engines to the 'wings' since it makes more sense, added a grabber since its supposed to have some mining purposes among other things, and sleekened the shape a bit.

I can imagine 4 or 5 of these guys working in concert with a large mining ship, or two-to-three freighters, or a Mafic, or a couple transports.

I may even make the KS line its own 'attack freighter' based off the Garanchou's current HW model since it won't be needing that shape anymore.

The Dacite looks pretty aweseome. Like some kind of assembly or processing ship. What could also be possible, that it's some kind of demining ship, due to those strange gadgets on the front.

These are great, cant wait to see what you come up with for the rest of the shipline. I might even think about flyign a mafic if the model is decent =P

Mafic might take a bit longer, I've had two requests already to be sure I do it justice, and I don't want to dissapoint. ;)

Ill post some new pictures once the texture mapping on the Dacite and Basalt are closer to final stage.
