I actually have to agree with you here (never thought I'd ever do that) - Liner prices are both way off considering both RP and ooRP stats.
From an OOC standpoint, you just can't justify the extremely high price. Yes, Liners used to be the "poor man's battleship" in .84, but they aren't really strong anymore. Sure, unlike most transports, they actually *can* defend themselves, but they are still far from combat-worthy. They don't have a large cargo bay either. And there's nothing you can do with them which you can't do in a PTransport.
From an RP standpoint, the price doesn't really make any sense either. Why would any slaver chose a horribly pricey, century-old vessel over a more or less modern transport with better defensive capabilities and a lower price? You can put people in both's cargo holds; sure, you'll have to tweak the transport's hold a bit maybe, and more people might die, but that does not matter to a slaver.
And to crown this, the Slave Liner does not even have a CM dropper. It can't even run away. The only reason to fly one is for it's aesthetics, which however took quite a blow too when they gave it it's new textures.
' Wrote:4) I have a Slaver Advanced Train and a Slaver Slave Liner. I love both of them. If I had to choose, I would pick the Liner for pirating in (has a CD, a lot of armor and guns, and is friggin' huge) and the Train to trade in (it's more maneuverable, has better cargo capacity, and I have a more developed story for it).
I love the Midnight Express Quorg, whenever I see Choo Choo! in system chat I smile:)
' Wrote:And to the original poster, I spoke of getting flak from experience. People will go OORP to tell you that Slavers can't fly 5k transports (which is untrue).
If someone tells me stuff like this, I respond "Find me the exact rule stating that I can't"
I really am liking my shiny new... er... rust bucket... it is great fun to rp in. But is there any way to sort out the getting stuck in lanes? After a whle it does get a bit annoying.
Well, my GMG|GTS-Raikoke-Maru flies the Kusari train. GMG currenty picks up Rheinland PoWs from Liberty's Sugarland Prison (Slaves) for labour work on our Planet Miura to mine the Uranium needed to process Plutonium for Liberty. So every other run or so I make a stop in Texas and I load up my 5k transport with slaves. To me these cargo pods are constantly changed and swapped with other customized pods. So in my mind the pods are already adapted for human cargo and is already filled with the slaves when I get there to pick them up. Mind you, this unique lawful slave run doesn't offer the profits an unlawful slaver gets nor does it offer the risks either.
Im just asking what would be more in RP, Kusari Train, Rhienland, Bretonia or Liberty. Mastodon actually looks like it could carry slaves, but Adv. Train's cargo pods not really.

If you have to pick between those four, go with one that matches what your character's story is.
The one that is most in RP is the one that best matches your RP background.
Well, Drax is a Libertonian pure bread, so I guess itll be the mastodon. It looks like it could carry slaves the most and none of the other trains fit him as well.
Now the question... What should I name the Mastodon?

Ive been thinkin of a few names.
Miracuolus.
Harmony.
Unity.
Mohoganhy...
Oh by the way, how do you think this is?
Junker IFF, Slaver ID, Mastodon.
Should I have freelancer iff, or what?
I like the ironic names.
If you're thinking about going Slaving, you could apply to the Slavers' Union. You can easily buy or earn your way to be able to fly the Mastodon... We use the Slaver ID and Freelancer IFF (not to mention the fact that we use ironic names, too; my SU ship is the {SU}Soul.Train)
But you can get away with the Junker or Freelancer IFF if you want. Again, that's an RP decision.
