Hm, in that case, id like to revoke my previous posts.

Open the border fully, and take the taxes there and there only, it would even make sense in RP, the papers and cargo from the enemy side must be checked and double checked to make sure they are in order.

I'm gonna toss an opinion in here too.

Now, it makes perfect sense to enforce the embargo and to prevent goods being shipped to Liberty from Rheinland. But if a indie trader risks his neck passing the Liberty blockade to Rheinland, that's practically helping Rheinland's war effort with goods. I cannot see a reason for why he should be taxed. Does not really make sense to me. Same goes for all the other borders. Incoming trade should be welcomed, you can very well tax the exports to other Houses, having the RP excuse that said goods may be needed for the war (i.e ore, electronics, shipbuilding stuff)

Those are my 0.02 credits

Its obvious the RM dont give a **** about the LPI, They just shouldnt exepect Any Liberty corp to go thru Rhienland. CM, It was always freaking clear.
I Just dont see how that can work at all.
Expect cruise button mashing.

It aint about the freaking credits, It's about Following the policy of America's Lawmakers, AKA, "DO SOmething, Anything, Just do it".

And hell, two can play the insult game. How the hell can you even think, That its a good idea for the Military to Take credits( no Matter how small, tis the principle, not the amount), from traders that dont have a damn thing to do with their services? If they actually....I dunno.......Escorted them for abit, I could see paying up without a second thought, A token amount for token resistance, right?
As to your other remark, you hear ventana going on and on about how the RM are tough and mean, what do you THINK they will do?

Quote:This is respect and cooperation. If we get it, we stay that nice and helpful.

And what trader, If I may ask, Will do that? SUddenly they got 12 or so guns pointed at them, with Military demanding their money. Keep in mind this is a game, People will do **** they wouldnt dare do in RL, Such as Insult a soldier.
Quote:RM isn't trying to powerplay, they're trying to breath some life into Rheinland

Fine with me, I just dont see How this will do anything. If it works, Ill stand corrected, but as of now, charging Everyone for a Service they cant use is no good. It's like buying a gift card, Only to see that when you give it to someone, It's no good anymore.

SO yeah, IM frustrated, I just dont Personally Attack people like you, Falconer, Atleast without some goramn Provocation, But Goramn you did .

SO maybe, yeah, Im ranting.

Just dont exepect that Border you "opened" up to be used.

Liberty corporations are shown the exit anyways. They have no right to trade within Rheinland. (Exception is Ageira/DSE.) If you do not like it, go your way and stay out.

If you feel your profit decreasing so drastically... just stay out. Others will come.

We, the RM offer more then just security: we offer a high level RP you will have to search in the rest of Sirius. If you don't respect that, go trade in Liberty and stop your rant about reasonable RP measures.

Looks like Cryer is somewhat of an exception too, although it's less of a Liberty corporation than the others I suppose.

Also, I like your attitude with Cryer research allowances!

Elitism Much? Ture, Liberty has bad RP, But Rhienland is not the RP Mecca you make it out to be

[font=Arial]My personal opinion is the same as many mentioned:

[color=#FFFF99]This will cause traders to avoid Rheinland... just for the fact that they can get taxed for being there.
Just imagine how a trader must feel to possibly get taxed again after having managed to get to Rheinland in one piece through the pirates elsewhere or having survived a pirate encounter inside Rheinland:

"Why in blazes should I get taxed again if they didn't protect me in the first place?"

If at all, you should make is as Jinx suggested an 'escort fee' and protect the ship until it reaches a border. Simply having 'yet another tax' with nothing in return won't do.

If thats a yes, then i think you are going to loose more than you gain from this.

If you want people in rheianland companies, this is the WRONG way to go about it, all you will end up with is an area more deserted than kusari simply because the base of all RP are traders, and you will see nothing but the odd cardi-slaves smuggler if you inact this.

' Wrote:Yes, In a way.

I even will get Taxed dragging My lux foods away from stuttgart.
The difference should be clear by now. Lots of good explanations what it is and what it is not.

' Wrote:I think this is going to backfire epically...

powertraders will just run like hell, so no rp there

a lot of traders will just avoid Rheinland altogheter now. first you wade trough pirates to try and avoid losing money, then the RM "pirates" you 200m from your destination? with tax amounts that some pirates won`t even ask for?

this si going to result in silly cat and mouse games between (factionised) traders and the RM.

I`m all for making Rheinland more busy and popultaed. but I feel that this is not the way to do it.

if I come in with my Bowex, from bretonia, I lose money in O3 if I`m unlucky enough to meet some (lol)pirates. then the RM taxes me for delivering goods. then i have to pay to haul cargo out again. then I get pirated in O7 or 3 again wiith some lousy luck.

I`m no powertrader. but that doesn`t really sound appealing at all..

We are keeping Omega 7 pirate free as good as possible and also patrol there frequently.
I am currently thinking of an advanced treatment with the BAF, so both sides can wander into Omega 7 and Omega 3, to keep it clear. (no pirate hiding there anymore)

' Wrote:Like I always say, the lawfuls are worse than the pirates when it comes to pissing you off, ripping you off, and taking your money -_-

Is this honestly needed? What, do the RM not want to trade like everyone else to fund their ships? I really dont mean to flame here, but honestly, this is ridiculous.

Agreed with the others, you're trying to bring more activity into rheinland, but the actions you're taking to that end are going to cause the opposite.
Ripping you off would mean we would have to charge 1 million, so your losses are really high.
How many traderoutes do you take where it will be charged by 200.000 ?
Usualy you may loose 100.000 or 150.000.
If you really are upset due to this and this is a reason not to come to Rheinland anymore, then I think the hope for the trade is lost.

This my friend, is a brilliant idea. Only levy taxes for outgoing goods. I may consider this and put in some thoughts.

Jinx also posted a verry good summary what it should be and what we have to avoid.

The idea behind this is to provide more roleplay, give the traders a chat and yes, even escorts.
Someone also mentioned that it is more the RFP work and yes, I fully support that it is mainly the work of the RFP.
This could also revitalize the RFP faction.
Our current status is, that the Military is taking the police work. Otherwise it wont work. We have to.

I want to come back to the "good tone" again.
Ventana already said, that our boys must be polite and dont treat the traders like smugglers or unlawfulls.
They dont need a CD, they can just fly alongside them and that even gives them a security feeling.
Talking to them and explaining them why the tax is needed.

If people want to run or shoot for 100.000 to a max of 200.000 credits, then they should be free to do it.
We wont tax a player when he crosses our path on his way in and then again on his path out.
It is beeing decided by the ranking officer, if there is time for the taxation or not.

It is not even in place the first day and I see people complaining about missing 200.000 Credits in a 45 minute run for 15-19 million credits.
If pirates are really this big problem, tell me where they sit at the rheinland borders.
If it is only O3, then I am sure we can do something with the BAF to keep it clear as well.

Give the new taxing system a chance. Look at it and help to develop it, so we can adjust it to make the most sense.
We will see if the lolwuts and silent traders are the real problem, or the people who think a taxationsystem is not worth to roleplay and the try.

Next to all Liberty Coorperations are an Exception.

DSE holds the monoply on Jumpgates, and they are needed in Rheinland as well,
Interspace is a Bank and an Ensurance company, again needed,
Orbital S+C, is a Sectorwide Coorp, what has a Base in Rheinland,
SynthFoods has a special contract with Rheinland,
Cryer, dont know, never actually thought of them as Libertonians, but nothing to protect them?

Ageira and Universal..no excuses, oh cool we RM can shoot them?

In this WAR we should have some clear words,, either there is a Tradewarfare (hunting an killing enemy Transports) or we dont have on (let the trade flow).

But a little embargo here, and a little Taxation there is only confusing.

Actually, The RM and rheiland government hates Synth foods, It's in the lore, I think.
If they could, Im sure they would Carpet bomb them Right outa Rhienland.
as It stands, we may Ship Lux Foods ONLY thru the embargo, Just now we have to pay for something we already had for free.
