On Bombers -
I don't think bombers were fixed, they were just nerfed.
It's good that Bombers can't be used against VHF, as it's not their primary role.
I was looking forward to an update like this which forces bombers to be used for Anti-cap or as a Transport eliminator.
But with the Razor gone now, it's useless against a Gunboat.
Even with SNAC on, gunboats are agile and bomber weapons are piss all...
Can we up the damage on bomber wps + increase range/refire rate keeping the same speed ?
This will allow it to be still used anti-cap without it interfering in VHF territory.
The way I see it is
BS/Carriers - Counter other BS, Carriers, Cruiser, Gunboats
Cruisers - Other cruisers + small ships
Gunboats - All fighters + bombers
Bomber - Gunboat, Cruiser, BS
VHF - Any fighter or bomber
Bombers should sacrifice speed, agility and wps speed for Long distance + High powered wps.
Till this is done, bombers are either useless for their role or too powerful and will be used as an jack of all trades.

This update seems to be causing issues with the FL Character Editor.
I've replaced the IONCross files in the editor's directory with the new ones from Freelancer after the update.
The program loads, but when editing any saved games - it shows this error - "Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument"
Any ideas ?
Edit: ps: It's something to do with the IONCross files, I've replaced the old files and they are working, There's something on the new files which IONCross doesn't like.

If you can't hit a gunboat with Snac every time, it's good. They are -supposed- to have some chance to evade it. As you wrote, their primal role is "All fighters + bombers" . And if bombers could mount razors, they still could kill fighters quite easily.
And about that buff of bomber weapons, that would be total nonsense. It would be step back.
