Xenon, a little more exotic (and can be radioactive as well).

Is it possoble to get a mod to split off the posts about anti-hydrogen?

They arent really relevant to this topic - but would make an excellent topic of themselves.

please explain why anti hydrogen is not relative to the topic?

Its a gas, hopefully it will be mineable in a future mod. How is that any different from Xenon>?

I mean not relevant to the GMG topic.

Anti-Hydrogen deserves a topic of its own.

I see anti-hydrogen as an 'exotic' species located in dangerous, out of the way places - not the Doryu Cloud.

Anti-hydrogen should be something for Researcher ID ships to mine.

OIL ftw,

so I say yay to nitrogen, could be bought at a high price on Unlawfull Gallic Bases

Never been to a science class right?

I am not saying they dont use oil because they do.

I AM saying they would use deuterium-rich oil, and 'crack' the fuel (just as modern refineries refine their crude oil for use in vehicles - so too must Gallia modify their base hydrocarbons).

This means their ships run on deuterium fusion - but that deuterium is derived from hydrocarbons, not water or free gas like in the rest of Sirius.

After stretching my creative brain cells...

Quote:During the 21st Century, directed-energy weapons, such as particle weapons or plasma weapons, were considered infeasible because of the natural dissipation of energy once the "projectile" left the weapon. Depictions of globs or lances of pure energy hurtling at targets in Science Fiction films were considered impossible. Experimental weapons made during the time could produce an "spray" of energy directly in front of the weapon, as a projectile was incapable of forming.

Around a decade before the devastating wars between the Coalition and Alliance began, scientists working on a more powerful laser for non-contact surgery accidentally stumbled upon a way to concentrate the beam for greater power. This method, then known as Luftwaffle-Baozi Gas Ionization, provided a beam too powerful for medicine, and preliminary research was soon taken over by military interests. Ironically, something developed to save lives would change the face of warfare completely.

Luftwaffle-Baozi Gas Ionization involved feeding two streams of the desired material through two highly concentrated cylinders lined with Gauss Coils filled with very electronegative gas or very electropositive gas, respectively. The particles in the electronegative gas cylinder would lose electrons, while those in the electropostive gas cylinder would gain electrons. These particles would then be passed through filter plate at the end of each cylinder possessing the opposite charge to the now ionized gases.

In the next chamber, the the positively and negatively charged particles are mixed together, and near-instantaneously propelled via Gauss coils out of the weapon towards their intended target. The particles, in a sizeable "lump," stayed together cohesively because of the attraction between the ionized particles. Eventually, however, the particles would begin to become eletricly neutral, and the projectile would begin to spread, thus making range on these weapons very limited.

Direct-Energy weapons produced via the Luftwaffle-Baozi method had limitations, however. The most obvious was that the weapons would only be effective in some form of vacuum, as the ionized cloud of particles would dissipate far faster in a medium like air - an effect known as blooming.

Fortunately for mankind, Luftwaffle-Baozi Gas Ionization was not used to produce weapons until the last few years of the Alliance-Coalition War. The reason for this was simple: While it was easy to find an electronegative element to form the gas in the first cylinder, Fluorine gas, it was exceedingly difficult to find an equally electropositive element that could be converted to a gas. Francium was extraordinarily rare and highly radioactive. Caesium had a boiling point of 944 Kelvin, or 1240 degrees Fahrenheit.

In addition, there was no alternative besides running the particles through a electropositive gas, as liquids and solids would be unable to provide the maximum surface area needed to charge an equal number of particles compared to those being charged in the electronegative cylinder.

The Gas the GMG should extract should be the electropositive gas opposite of the Fluorine in the other cylinder.

That would be great for a faction that makes Plasma or particle weapons.

The GMG makes neither - only the photon-based Skyblast.

There are a lot of good ideas - but may would be better placed in other regions of Sirius. I want to stick to our core line-of-business where possible.

I'm completely aware.

But if a company like the GMG uses everything they extract, then they wouldn't make much money at all, and would as a result, would have little or no bargaining power. In addition, Skyblasts aren't sold or marketed. Instead, its quite possible that they export the gas required to make Plasma and Particle weapons to Liberty, Bretonia, third-party manufacturers(who produce weapons used by the Xenos, Outcasts, etc...) and maybe even Rheinland.

It would also add an interesting dynamic to why the Rheinlanders wanted the gas deposits in Sigma-13(aside from H-Fuel) for themselves. Now, on top of losing H-Fuel, Rheinlanders have to accept that the GMG controls a great deal of the substance they need to produce military hardware. If the GMG were the primary producers of this specific type of electropositive gas, they rub additional salt into the Rheinlander's wounds by forcing them to either buy GMG-produced gas or buy more expensive gas elsewhere.

Err, the GMG and Rheinland arent quite at each other's throats anymore...

Still it does open up the possibility of new markets.

Haha, I'm aware of that too. But I'm sure that if you asked a Rheinlander what they thought about the GMG, they would probably offer a description that you would not be keen to repeat to your mother. In addition, staunchly patriotic Rheinlanders in their government would not be likely to throw up their arms and suggest they forget about the GMG-Rheinland war and start mutually beneficial business deals with you folks.

Then again, these are just my opinions that I've offered to you guys. It's the faction's call, not mine. At this stage, everything is hypothetical.

This is getting a little off topic sir. Perhaps you cold pose a question in the News and Events thread regarding this matter?

I propose one of the nebulae be filled with caffeine, just so someone named Kathyrn.Janeway can say over system chat "There's coffee in that nebula!".
