Well, if no one touches my little corner or space, I'm fine. I have PvPed like, what, 5 times in my 'illustrious' career here? And I'm fine with that. But I do like the RP-ness that I can garner with the destroyer - as am Ambassador, I'm kinda needing some protection, no? How many diplomats fly about in transports or fighters?

I am not deaf to the whole matter that missiles kill PvP (no pun intended); however, I have no experience with it as I do not care for PvPing. There is some use for it, I assure you, but still, it is unenviable.

If you want to raise the prices but not touch my particular ship, I won't mind. But, seeing as how that will not happen...

Discovery is a great mod. Perhaps a limit on missiles would be good.

But why don't we just, I dunno, remove the gunboat class altogether? That seems to be the crux of the problem...

Just a thought.

And Caylith, are you talking about "to each his (or her) own"? Or "opinions are ten cents a pound"? Both work here, but they have radically different meanings.

Exactly!!!!!!!!! On my RM guy I have hornvipers...on my blood dragon I have weapons from BD bases...and now my guns cannot do it... Even on my old HF fighters from the days of tizonas and codies are no match for a GB when they can bring down a CRUISER!!!!!!!!

There is just no point in fighting anymore...I am just gonna trade until I hit 2bil! And laugh at people who fly around in GBs because a GB now is a pvp whore's tool. I know there are good cool people who use GBs but now the only reason to have a GB is so that you can kill the other GBs. Fighters have become worthless.

A lot of people have given up their fighters and bought all Gunboats and now no one can fight them. And the worst part is that they think they're amazing because they can kill anything in a GB. And it is really getting old just like the pvp whoring that plagued us before...something must be done.


EDIT: *sees Harlie's post* Well none of my post is in reference to hers....

Thank you Yngen. That was exactly what I put the 4 turrets on for. The Solaris I had didn't work worth crap for stripping capship weaps, but I knew missiles did. Now I've seen (repeatedly) that missile turrets can easily slaughter fighters.

More than anything else it needs turning downgraded on missiles, except the BS ones. Keep them as they are, they are fine there (tested against [RM]Kreig).

Maybe decrease GB and CR missiles by 25% damage. Also, the GB FWD gun by 10%. That should fix the issue.

GBs are meant to kill fighters off, but not slaughter them. Misfit took out 4-5 in about 45 seconds because of the missile spam and almost certainty of hitting them.

Dab has my backing on this one. I'll be the first to admit I've had a missle gunboat for a long, long time, about 2.5 mod versions in fact, and they're death on fighters. Even homing missles are not as good as gunboat ones for turning and accuracy, or so it seems. They should be considerably worse, but not as bad as cannonballs.

It should take a GB awhile to kill a fighter, as Dab+others have said, they shouldn't be the 5-second pwnage.

At least a minute or so...you know. My two GBs have only two missiles and rely mainly on their...drumroll please! GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And PILOTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As it should be. No ship should be able to obliterate anything like Misift did to us and like those two miners did. they blew my ship up in ONE SHOT!!!!!!! So something has to be done about miners and Gunboats

Because the ignored issue here is the miner. It mounts 10 gb weapons which do the same damage as BATTLESHIP guns so in theory it's a battleship for 8mil. How in the hell is that right? The simple answer is...it's not, it's a MINER it should be cannon fodder WAY MORE SO THAN THE FIERCLY DEBATED LINER. The miner should have class 1 turrets that take 0 energy and have a 100.100 fire rate and that do 0.1 damage or just enough to mine.

Or a small flak cannon that does 10 damage with a 4500 splash radius. So yeah something must be done.

tank, If you were able to do a server wipe, and you did, you would be a dead man. Anyway GBs are already enough to be nearly invinclible vs fighters, unless they have novas, cruisers, those can kill a BS with enough skill. BSs are able to have a chance VS fighters and GBs,but GBs turn relativly fast(yep, I accually dogfight fighters in a GB).

Pardon commodore? What do you mean dead man? Are you threatening me? There needs to be a server wipe when it happens i have no idea. But it needs to happen and GBs must be toned down or fighters must be made better either way something must be done.

Yes, that warranted Caps Lock. That is how serious this satirization would be. Really, really serious.

I trust that it won't come down to this. But people have worked hard (well, I can only talk for myself) to get what they have. That being said, I received a large donation from Mal whilst acquiring my destroyer, but still. There was some effort that was made at some point or another without the intentions of PvPing. And if we just throw that all away...

I just don't want this to become the next BK.

Dab, you wouldn't happen to be reffering to the part where my missiles only actually hit your fighter once? And that was when you stood still for 5 seconds?

Guys, missiles are SUPPOSED to be nasty! Why do you think the majority of the US arsenal is missiles? Has anyone seen what cruise missiles do? Stingers? TOWs? A single missile can take out a tank, or a plane, or a building. And that's in OUR day. Given another thousand odd years, why should these missiles be any different?

All you people complaining about missile spam, try flying a cruiser or battleship against a fighter sometime. Especially in an area of high NPC concentration. Those little fighters jump around like its and episode of DBZ ro something, and the only way to get anything done against them is to fill the area with missiles and pray that at least 1% ACTUALLY WORK!

So, since the problem is the missile spam, let's try and solve that. How about, instead of nerfing every single ship in the game (Because you can just say goodbye to me if the price of cap-ships goes up to 1.4 bill. I am NOT trading up to that obscene ammount!) how about we answer the actual problem! Make cap-ship missiles use, "GASPUH!", AMMO! OMFG! How bizzare and strange is that!? Missiles! USING AMMO!

And, once again, I not-so-humbly request that we offer two different varieties of missiles;
A) Anti-Capship Class:
- Large Payload
- Massive Blast Radius
- Slow
- Little Agility

B) Anti-Fighter Class:
- Small Payload
- Little to No Blast Radius
- Fast
- Very Agile

Ladies and gentlemen; Missiles are deadly! Learn to live with that fact, and start using the damn Counter Measures! I know for a fact that one or even two drops will suck off an entire salvo, and you fighters can carry 70 of the blasted things!

Kane, they may be deadly, but fighters should be getting a chance. And remember those BS missiles are what stopped me from shooting you. If I had tried, I'd have died. Thats their purpose for a BS. Not to kill, thats what fighters and GBs are for (why do you think all SP campaign BSs have fighter support?) but to keep the fighter from attacking. If it attacks, it'll die. It did that for you. When I finally did try attacking, I died (died twice from you.) and died from when I sat still. Remember, it takes a whole 3 BS missiles to kill a fighter, so you might not hit much, but just a few will kill the fighter.

Also, cruisers do too good. My Talarca has 4 missile turrets and was slaughtering fighters every 30 seconds. Ask Osorojo.

They shouldn't be 'very agile' They should be less than they are now, which is 85% chance of hitting if the person is dodging with thruster.

Kane, I take it you haven't fought missile spamming GBs in a fighter, while using CMs.. The CMs are gone in roughly 20 seconds. 3-4 fighters should be able to kill a GB. Even with CMs right now, they couldn't. Because the CMs run out and then the fighter does without a chance, because the missiles cannot be dodged.

If you recall I said GB and CR missiles, BS being just fine as they are and accomplishing what they were meant to. GBs are what need the most work.
