Subject: A secure comms channel

I'm setting this comms channel up for internal communications within the front, including patrol reports, diplomacy, and skirmishes with those who would have us dead.

All standard Neo Terran patrols are to send a report on this channel after they RTB.

Shutting down his Talon's engines, Lieutenant Vayrn Wyard of the Neo-Terran Front sighed, stretching his arms out from hours of sitting at the controls of his fighter. Glancing out the window, he did a quick check around the docking bay he'd been assigned on Barrier Gate, making sure the fee he'd payed to dock was worth it and that he was alone in the bay.

With two of Barrier Gate's three docking ports offline from the Coalition raid, docking space was limited, and there were many who would try anything to ensure they had room to dock. Including attempting to drive those who were already docked off the station. Luckily, there was no one else in the bay, and Vayrn sat back, called up a new comm message, and began writing his report.

Sir, I'd like to report the mission was a success. Lieutenant Commander Goodmen's ship was retrieved, and the Lieutenant Commander himself is by now safely back in Bretonian territory. Mission report follows.

I'd been scouring the system's asteroid fields for a good few hours, and had just returned to Reunion to refuel when I picked up the following transmission.

' Wrote:"Good day lads, the system looks mighty fine from this view."
"However, I'm afraid my life support systems are nearly exhausted. Plus it's bloody starting to get colder. All I can give right now is a bloody gun-cam footage of my location, seems that's the only thing working at the moment. Uploading now."

Based on the position of the planets in relation to the star, I managed to narrow down my search to a small corridor of space, and once I resumed my search, it wasn't long before I ran across the Lieutenant Commander's ship. I held position near his ship, dropping off some of my nanobot canisters to help, and sent a tight band transmission to the Countess Lafiel Tarrant, who was still searching. Kithe was also in system, so I wasn't quite sure if the Countess would reach us before Kithe did, but it wasn't long before I picked up the Countess's ship on sensors. Once I was sure they had secured Goodmen's ship, I headed back to Reunion. Transmission log follows:

Upon reaching Reunion, however, I came across an... odd sight. An Outcast Gunship, bearing the callsign of "Crazy", was attempting to sneak into the minefield behind Reunion, but a Council Cruiser, the Liberte, was blocking the entrance. I suspect the Outcast's callsign was a rather accurate description of the pilot's mental state, as he suddenly threw his ship at the Cruiser, firing and ramming into it repeatedly.

I switched my guncam to video mode, and managed to record the gunship in action against the Cruiser. While I was watching, another ship unmoored from Reunion, a Conference-class gunboat belonging to the Zoners, callsign of "NastyKitty". As I knew the Countess and her group had no way to bring Goodmen's ship back with only fighters, I contacted the gunboat, and asked if it could assist.

On a private channel, I informed the Zoner about Goodmen's location, and we set out from Reunion. As we left, I picked up an explosion from the minefield, too small to be the cruiser. I think we can consider that Outcast gone for a while. It wasn't long before we located the Countess and Goodmen's ship again. Two other Bretonian ships had joined them, and they were attempting to slowly move the crippled fighter. With the gunboat there, everything went much more smoothly. Ms. Duke, the pilot of the NastyKitty, locked their tractor beam onto Goodmen's fighter, and towed it back to Reunion. Once there, Goodmen's ship was repaired to the point where it's engines functioned again, and the Bretonians then left for the Taus and Bretonian space proper.

As my mission was complete, I waited for the Bretonians to leave, and then left myself for Tau-29 and the Barrier Pass. Transmission log and guncam footage follows:

Hopefully, sir, this will go a long way in improving our relations with the Bretonians.

End of Report. Lieutenant Wyard out.

Sender: Henry Matthews, Ensign
Sender location: Boadicea
Target: NTF General comms

Best expect a transmission from a small group of freelancers currently designated -DeusVult-. They were looking for mining rights in Kansas. We left it at 7% of their profit, with the usual bits about staying out of parts of Kansas, getting rid of any of the occasional loons in Tridentes, and such. They should be contacting us shortly to formalise it. I opened a channel for them here.

Matthews out.

I intercepted a miner who claimed to have provided supplies for our sleeper ship. Mentioned it in detail, too. He claims that he has mining rights in exchange for supplies. Unfortunately, he did not get the memo for maintaining the ten kilometer distance of Boadicea. I am extenuating the fact that you must force this on all miners who enter Kansas. Shoot at them if you must to dissuade them from getting closer.

Signed,
Commodore Jake Ryder

Good day, sirs. As you know, I went through an accident on Boadicea about a hundred hours back, where my foot was crushed. Funny that a small injury like that has kept me from space. Anyway, the foot is almost done being replaced. Expect me in space anywhere from 48 to 72 hours. I'll be in the infirm on the Belisarius if you need me.

Alan out.

"What do you guys need to get Bodic up to a more permanent fixture? I'm hearing that it's still not fully operational. I scrapped the Paradise, so I have more time to spare than usual. Give me a call, the boredom is killing me."

-Alan stares at the terminal-

"Ah.. I.. Doc! Too many painkillers! I'm seeing that the captain of the Paradise just dropped into our Maximum Security communications network!"

"I suggest a revision of our encryption. But still, patch the guy through to Enrico or Ryder."

-Saronsen appears on screen, shaking his head-

"You do realize that I have access to these communications too, right? I've only been supporting you since your first few days of public existance. Hell, I have a NTF tagged vessel if you don't believe me. Don't get your panties in such a bunch, I was offering help."

Never thought we'd be hearing from you again, Mr. Nighten. I hope you realize nobody gave you permission to eavesdrop on the NTF. Next time, open a new channel or contact us in person.

As for what we need... that much should be obvious. Hull panels, fuel, deuterium for station reactors, optronics, superconductors, the list goes on. What we could really use, however, is something to dissuade so many miners from entering system...

"Well see, I have a tendency of appearing uninvited or unexpected into things, so don't think too much of it. It's not like I'm going to take all of your secrets and stuff the the Navy. Personally, I like messing with them instead."

"And as for something to keep miners from coming into Kansas? I'll see what I can do. I'm good at scaring people off."
