So i have been playing freelancer through the thick of it on my VISTA laptop for some many months with no problems.

now this update comes around and kicks me in the balls saying I need to reinstall the game right before the game loads the menu. Now, I'm sure if i did that it would still not work (but it will be my last resort).

Is there any other way of fixing this?

If not tell me here and now, cheers all.

Is it asking you if you want to update?

EDIT: Could you post a screenshot of what it is asking you?

No, I already updated it and now this happens:

So yeah, I should probably follow it's advice of re-installing.

Erm, are you running skype? Skype + Vista = fail. If you are, I'll post how to "fix" it.

By fix I mean a temporary solution that you have to do every time it does that.

Er... I run skype and vista just fine. My advice would be to save your FID (just in case) and re-install. (And then send me the codes for the pirate transport:P)

Mesdames, Messieurs. Bon Jour.

Your error here is caused by the laptop's graphic card. The problem here is that You want additional eye candy while your hardware is unable to provide it, as it is not capable of using shaders. I had the same issue some time ago.

You could have possibly noticed during mod installation the option to turn on external-dll provided graphical engine hacks. Now if you pardon me please revert it back by deleting that file as stated in the Discovery's documentation .

Quote:Graphical Enhancements:
- New weapon projectile and weapon impact effects;
- Large and detailed explosions for ships;
- New custom models for guns, turrets, and other equipment;
- Optional ENB mod that enables bloom (please read documentation and DO NOT enable it unless you are sure what you are doing).
*FLMM is unable to remove ENB mod during de-activation. You will have to remove d3d8.dll from the freelancer/EXE folder manually.

Thank you. I hope it will be of help. Bon Voyage.

Are you running it as an administrator?
