Yes.

What about all those people that will now get terrorized and killed unless they pay up?
It's pure and utter extortion.

For me it isnt such a large problem since I already got the money for a battleship, and can just stop trading. But that still doesnt mean that Im safe from being attacked; well I might get a little safe when I get the battleship, but not really before.

Call me old fashioned if you want, but I prefer challenging people before attacking them, and if they refuse I accept it and leave them be.

Worst part is I had until now seen the Battleship Terrors as rather friendly people, and I wouldnt have minded challenging them for a duel (when I had gotten my battleship that is :P), but now I dont really know what to think of them. :(

I can see a couple of things that might happen now:

1 People will pay up, the Battleship Terror will get richer. But eventually the Battleship Terror might get bored without no-one challenging them, and they change plans and get even more terrorizing.

2 A lot of people will simply quite playing on the server, because they wont accept such rude behaviour.

3 People will find alternative traderoutes, and the Battleship Terror will just move to new regions to terrorize.

4 People will take up the fight, and create some sort of alliance to rid themselves of the terror.

The last thing would actually be quite fun, since then the Battleship Terror wouldnt be able to just hang around and bully everybody, then they would actually meet coordinated resistance, and peaceful traders would at least get some sort of safety. :D

Regarding the Sims thingy: no.

I, for one, have a HUGE problem with this...

I didnt come here to pick a fight with you guys. I came here to trade, earn enough to get a capital ship and then explore the galaxy.
Thanks to the kind help Ive gotten from Profile and D-O-S, Im almost ready to get an Armoured Transporter. But now I wont. With 6 battleships ready to open fire at me without warning, I will not risk getting a ship that will be a legal target. I simply do not want to find myself being blow to smithereens just because Im in the wrong system.

Have you guys ever considered that there might be some of us who actually finds trading interesting? And furthermore, have you considered the fact that no transporter can survive a run-in with a capital ship?

What right do you have to take over the Discovery server and force your view of the game onto the rest of us players?

If you want to fight, then why do you not issue a standing challenge to anyone who would like to duke it out with you? I wouldnt mind having a great big battle ship fight with you, but I would mind battling with you when Im flying a freighter.
Honestly, wheres the challenge in destroying a freighter with a capital ship? Where, I ask you

Why dont you pick a fight with those who wants to fight, and then leave the rest of us alone?

This really saddens me. I honestly thought that you and Profile were really nice guys who liked to help newbs like me.

Apparently I was wrong

If this is to be the future of the Discovery server, then, regrettably, I will not be playing there anymore.
Bye guys, it was fun for the few days it lasted

Xit don't take it personal, it's roleplaying, it's a game... and besides you've been warned where exactly in Sirius you should take extreme care, and from whom you should flee.

(Edit) Regarding the last two posts.
Both sides are right in this situation, and it's quite difficult for me to decide what to do next.

From one hand, I know that trading becomes much more complicated now, because someone might always chase you or wait for you somewhere, not allowing you to dock where you wish. It's annoying.

From another, piracy adds challenge and roleplaying to the game.

Though I really prefer peaceful style of playing myself and there's a strong temptation to prohibit the terror thing at all, but I doubt that the server will benefit from it. Anyways, if no pirates, whom the tranport owners could fear? Npcs are mostly too weak to hurt them.

Problem is that therell be no chance to flee. A capital ship can destroy a freighter before the pilot can log out, let alone flee

What's the distance when you first see the battleship? Maximum viewable distance? All transports have thrusters, so they might fly faster than battleships while not cruising. You might exit the trade lane some way before getting near the planet (I mean New Berlin and Tokyo), and then you'll see who's there and have a chance to escape or choose another course. Am I wrong?

I don't take it personally; I'm just trying to speak out for the poor traders who dont really want anything else but trade. Now they'll be hunted for just being there not harming anyone (or at least they will be unless they stick with the Humpback or lower).

Yes, Ive been warned. But who can guarantee that they wont spread out and take control of other systems as well?

And yes, I can deal with some piracy. No problem in that. But simply taking control of two systems, and saying that people can pay up or die isnt piracy thats simple extortion and bullying.

And what if you're docked on New Tokyo (or whatever station in the two systems), and when you lift off there they are?
Then you can't run. Only get shot up or pay up.

Around 2K or less. The first indication of a lurking capital ship is usually when you exit a tradelane. And at that point in time its too late if the capital ship is hostile :(

EDIT:

Yes, I may exit the tradelane before reaching the planet. But what good does that do? I need to dock, not fly through empty space.
The best I can do is to turn around and return to where I came from. But wheres the fun in that?

I completely agree with xits posts above mine. This is pure bullying.

The Battleship Terror has, at this point in time, taken complete control of the world. They decide who gets to live and who gets to die. Who gets to trade and where

Thats no fun for those of us who simply wants to trade and earn money. We have never harmed or threatened any of those whore behind the Terror, so why do they attack us?

Im in a small freight ship theyre in capital ships. What chance do I have?

MP Freelancer is all about co-operation and teamwork. Anyone who disagrees might as well play SP. That's the way I see it, kind of, anyway. Although I have an idea for handing out missions for role-playing, but I'd need a lot of money first.

But I don't wish to sound harsh, and xit, I was kidding about the Sims thing! Please stick on the server!

This is all exciting stuff, I think. If you already have millions in the bank, what's the problem with losing a bit of cargo? Just respawn and go somewhere else.

Role-played characters:
daedalus - Liberty Navy
bandersnatch - Ruthless criminal possessed by a (huge) alien
Shredder - Small-time Kusari pirate, looking to join the Blood Dragons

"Bounty Hunters. We don't need that scum." - Admiral Piett
