in the past weeks/months, i have tried to contact AoM, but got no answer - so i have just finished a revised zoner destroyer to be a bit more in line with the sleek zoner capital sized ships.
i had presented the raw mesh in another thread already - but this is the skinned version. - the skin is rather "simple" - the ship isn t supposed to be too detailed in terms of extrusions or stuff seen from the outside.
the shape is a lot flatter - and meant to be somewhat special. - while following the general idea of the zoner capship "shells" - its the only one that doesn t only use the forked tail as pure armour plating to protect the engines - but the whole rear section is a massive part of the shiphull itself.
with this ship ( and the revised juggernaut ) - i m kind of leaving the "single engine" concept for the larger ships. - the revised fearless has 4 engine exhausts ( the new juggernaut would have 8, the revised corvo has 3 )

It's very nice. It reminds me a spider... with some appendix that would resembe legs... it would be very impressive. Very, very nice anywhere. :)

spider? - i think i see what you mean - the top down view ... but ... if it was a spider, the ship was flying backwards. - the forked part is the rear - the solid one is the front...
1) Turret HPs modeled into the ship. I can't see them right now, but perhaps its a perspective thing?
2) Thruster exhaust HP modeled in, generally modelers just stick it in an engine which looks a tad silly on capships. Basically a small axillary engine model from which the thruster exhaust is expelled.
3) A mooring hardpoint or two somewhere on the ship. Something I know no one has ever done nor are there any on any ship anywhere... But every station in disco has a mooring point on it which, for the life of me, I have no idea how any vessel connects to it. A lot of people enjoy "sitting" their ship next to a base but it's sort of tricky to figure out exactly what part of your totally sealed ship is supposed to be connecting.
4) More detail or purpose on the back fins. While I'm sure the Zoners appreciate aesthetics as much as the next scattered cluster of small commune people looking for an exodus from the humdrum of house space to live in small deep space society, but as they're not protecting anything it seems reasonable to think that someone would just suggest lopping them off entirely.
If they're slapped onto the ship they should probably serve -some- kind of purpose.
Or just tell me that's where all of the cargo is held and I'll accept that the zoners hate shipping masters and move on.
Re: The spider comment. It reminds me very heavily of latter generation federation designs for Star Trek.
