BHG is not dead, it's just having a regular slump.

Dash, I still remember the fun times we used to have when going out on a hunt together. All it really takes is 1 BHG patrolling and people will join you in your hunt.

I rarely see house hunters anymore. the only ones I see pop up from time to time is Stoat, who bravely tries to keep Leeds clean.

The only hunter I had fun on lately was The Clown, because Banza (major kudos to you mate) always hired me in game. that way I could avoid 40 minutes of paperwork. bretonian bounties barely get paid anyway, so that was the only way for me to actually rp a hunter.

And Loogas, I do miss those days. a lot. but they're long gone. and I doubt they will ever come back.

maybe 4.86 will bring some positive changes to the BHG for once. I doubt it though. excuse my pessimism, but I have little reason to think that will actually be the case.

Damn right. There's just SO much crap to wade through when chasing bounties. It's a real drag. I stay in Bretonia myslef because almost all of the unlawfuls are intelligent enough to realise that they are covered by the Bretonian blanket bounty. In fact, the vast majority of unlawfuls that I interact with in Bretonia are damn good role players, and good folks to boot.

Hell yes!

Gotta disagree with your Orca comment. I love that ship, and regularly take on multiple vessels, whether that be all bombers, or a mix of bombers, fighters and/or GBs. It's a fantastic performer, can soak up a ton of punishment, and can avoid SNACs well enough (unless the bomber pilot is one of those like Jongleur or Weedalot). The gunship is equally evil in the right hands, just really suffers because of its crappy hull.

Yup, I'm still there, clearing up the detritus that floats in from all corners of Sirius. Any time you see me on and want to hunt, just let me know. It gets a bit lonely when I'm the only one around Bretonia. And don't worry about payments. I'll cover that for you if I need to. It would be nice to have a couple more hunters in the area now and then.

Moved to general discussion.

Interesting reading. Forgive my absence. Factions go into periods of inactivity, but our base is solid. I think faction overlap in membership is partly to blame. The Order needs the BHG to exist as a faction more than the BHG needs the Order - we always have the freedom to return to the Houses; the Order could find itself sitting in Toledo orbit with nothing to do if we withdraw players from the Omicrons. The event was in the process of being re-shaped when real life called. That will need attention - there is no good reason for a BHG turnout that is low considering there are plenty of people in both factions. But we can always drop the event and make another one which might be easier to run.

A few things in the pipeline to give hope to our committed members - a bit more of an incentive to play and a few long overdue bumps to positions of responsibility. If needs be, we can return to being a small faction and focus on a few committed members. But the perennial problem remains - what is the point of being a member of any official faction? There are no real advantages but I'm sure we can make some. I'm working on a few things. Memerbship has been open and should stay that way because it does draw the occasional good player. Bear in mind this is a hobby, not a commitment to a life of penal servitude.

As to the general anti-hunter mentality on the forums. Well, this is classic squeaky wheel Discovery balance - some idiot tries to change the rules of the game because of a perceived unfairness or bad experience when in all likelihood a role played response would be more appropriate. These whingers always get what they deserve - a more boring and lacklustre gaming experience; a "safer" spaceship game than one where real consequences arise from choices you make.

More on this later; Dash get back in the chat. We have a lot of things to sort out.

I'm probably a lousy Orca pilot, because I found it to be somewhat of a flying coffin. Then again, I don't use missile turrets either, but that's my problem. What's your secret to Orca success?

Factions do go through their periods. Right now we're seeing another period of 'bash on hunters' from some criminals, which we go through about once every 4 months. What these ... people ... forget is that if the criminal element was the only thing out there, they'd have nothing to do. Tax a trader all of his money - and then watch the traders stop coming through. How fun, thrilling, and exciting is it to only have npc's to blow up and/or interact with?

Certainly we've concentrated on the Order lately, because going out and flying the cap ships has been fun. But it does sound like it's time to head back into house space and once reassert ourselves there.

Also we're seeing a time when we, the Guildmasters, are having way to much 'fun' in real life, with babies, grandchildren, and projects that are taking our free time. This is game we play for fun and enjoyment - not because it's actual work with real paychecks coming in.

It'll be damn good to have you around house space again. Been too long since we had a proper hunting party out.

On a personal level, i missed both events last weekend due to sleeping in, and getting home an hour later then i thought i would. I've been working on bringing more activity to the unlawful side of bretonia, and have been fairly busy in RL.

On a faction level, we've lost several players to inactivity, and even more players to real life and other factions.

Oh and stoat, can you give me some pointers on flying the orca? i want to bring it up to my rogue gunboat skills.

Please, say the word, I still hug on to house bounties come back and I'll pop out again. Packs of 3-5 Mantas ftw!

Edit add: BHG|S/D = tight-knit house hunter pack? (start by roll calling any S/D left?)
