Ive been getting kicked a LOT lately for "High packet loss" Which had never happened before. Is something happening with the server today or something a memo i missed?

This had never happened to be before and last time, the server was even FARTHER away... After I get kicked I dont get let back in for like 2 minutes... Ugh.

Had the same problem, made a thread.

Cannon posted there, hang on, I'll dig it up for you

Here

' Wrote:A few notes about this, we will never kick for ping. High ping is not really a problem.

Packet loss is one of the main reasons behind observable lag and recently I've noticed that *some* people use high packet loss as a means to cheat.

We are currently testing automatically kicking people if their packet loss exceeds 35%. With of a loss 20% the game is not really playable - it certainly isn't if you interact with anyone else, you will almost immediately lag out, so 35% seems like a very conservative number.

If you have been and continue to be affected by this and your game was playable before hand then please contact me by PM and I'll see what can be done.

If this causes people significant problems we will turn it off.

I've also noticed that some people forget to stop downloading stuff and so have a high packet loss; this serves as a polite reminder to turn off the download.

For reference, most players have a packet loss of 0-5%. I'm on the other side of the world and mine is 0% normally.

Its sorted for me now anyway, must have just been a spike.

They turned on high packet loss kicking.
If your loss goes above 30%, the server kicks you.
This was because certain memory edits put your loss up to 100%.

My packet loss goes up and down, I typed /ping about 10 times FAST and they were all 25% loss, then about 30 seconds later i typed /ping 10 times again and it's 23%. 30% is a little low...

Now its 21%. lol...
And again, 24%.

It spikes and sometimes goes above 30%... This never happened before to me, Could it be server side?

KICKED AGAIN... as I was going through a jumpgate.

Lol... Ugh.

EDIT: HAH

Got it

Ugh, I know its not on my side. The ISP would email me and send a physical letter if they were working on the net.

Kicked AGAIN. This didnt happen to be last night and I was playing for 4 hours straight.

Cannon i know your looking at this, please help me:(

Did you turn off downloading/uploading of stuff before playing? Torrents especially...

Thats obvious, I never download during games.

Cannon made the max 40%. If I go that high it will be solidified its an isoloated one day client side internet problem. Right now im on the server, 27% loss with 2% lag and 165 (normal for me) ping.

I had the same problem yesterday mate,
me and my room-mate tried to play but he was constant kicked because of the loss.
We had ping above 200 all the time after 30 minutes trying we just logged off.
We share 32mbt connection(in Germany that is not so far away from Denmark if you are from New Zeeland or so you will have constant lag ) I think that the server was just laggy yesterday.
Today I had no problems, and yes its stupid to see that console say that you are a cheater, but the admins must restrict somehow the lag on the server.
Yea it is terrible I and my room made do some missions so the NPCs were down on my screen ,the same time he had 3 of them in the scanner with 10% loss

27% loss is terrible;
- your ship will jump around like a jumpy thing
- fighting other players will be very hard - for both them and you.
Avoid player interaction.

Really? Ive had that much for quite a while now. Ironically, when the server was farther away from me in CZ, I had no lag or loss whatsoever.

My loss fluctuates really a lot. It was 18% a bit ago, Now its back up to 26%. I had NONE of these problems yesterday, unlike Govedo. All my problems happened today.

I really dont know what the problem is 0.o Dang internet. See, My ping stays the same while my loss goes nuts! Ugh!

Wow. Thats crazy. My ping went down to 159 (rather low, Very low for me is 150-155)
and then my loss shot to 29%. WTH!

In your case, this is most likely a local internet congestion issue. If it's not a local internet congestion issue then it'll be just 'an internet issue'. It'll go away by itself.

Other people have had the same sort of problems.
