Depends on whether you go by average or number of aces. Liberty and the Hispanic groups have the best of the best in their ranks (the LN's Gold Wing, the OPG Guardians, etc), but on average their piloting skill is quite poor. Rheinland's aces are not as numerous or (with a few exceptions) as good as those of the aforementioned houses, but on average a Rheinland pilot is leagues better than a Liberty pilot, and there's no point even bothering to compare them to your average lolsair or lolcast.

I must agree with you, both Rheinland and Kusari pilots are elite compared to everyone else in my opinion. The first proof is that they don't need to rely on numbers.

Can I put in a nomination for GMG?

In-game Lore
The BD are GMG trained and fly circles around KNF.
GMG whooped the Rheinland war machine.
GMG scattered the Rheinland Wilde fleet.
and GMG holds back the Hispanic fleets knocking on the back door.
This while using smaller ships, smaller numbers but superior tactics and skill. :)

But since this is a house thing I might have to go with KNF. Even though they aren't the true historic warriors to the throne, they've been around for a long time and the results of their skill shows in Bretonnia.

This is all about NPC factions, I assume. If it's player factions can I again say GMG? If not and it's still about houses then I can say I've seen Bretonnia hold some seriously skilled pilots in it's space.

There are stunningly good pilots everywhere really. Finding the real demon fliers out there is like trying to find diamonds in a big pile of turd.

The [LN] has some excellent pilots, the [RM] has some terrifying opponents, the [RoS] has people who are horrifyingly good, the old OPG had some people who made me want to cry...

To be honest though, it's hardly relevant. People do as well as they can, and sometimes they win, and sometimes the other guy (or girl) is better.

As to what Felix Cabulb was saying. There are no real pilots who would allow themselves to rely on numbers. People who appreciate the skill involved wouldn't consider a victory in which they vastly outnumbered the enemy to be a victory at all. Often you find that a good pilot's skill will be drowned out by the vast swathes of overkilling idiots who fly around them It's a shame.

I don't mind losing to someone who has outflown or out-thought me. I don't really mind losing to people who have just had more numbers than I have. More often than not you know what you're flying into anyway... I -hate- winning when I've had overwhealming numbers on my side.

Good and bad everywhere you go really. That's true of people and of pvp skill. None of it is really that important though.

I said "houses" Not regions. The Taus are not a house. Sure they have impeccable pilots, but they are not incuded because they are not part of a house.

Obviously, it seems rhienland appears to have the best fighter pilots in Sirius according to recent polls.

I am a fair pilot and I tend to stay spread out. I have many characters. So you can't lock down skill to a particular spot.

Then you get the froobs flocking to the 'winning' side and the good pilots slip out to the other side and continue to win.

There are good pilots everywhere.

If we look at quantity though, there's no contest outside Liberty, simply because it has more players than anyone else, and thus a larger number of 'ace' pilots.

However, in the majority of fights I've seen, I would say that there are more skilled bretonian (BAF) and Rheinland (RM) pilots, if you keep to houses. I've seen both of those factions do some amazing things in pvp events or random encounters.

I participated in some of the old BAF vs KNF fights during 4.84, and despite the kusari side having every advantage as far as ship size, manuverability, and firepower... the BAF continually whooped their butts all over the place.

Likewise, I've seen the RM going up against SCRA, Liberty Navy, Corsairs, Outcasts, and Hessians, and they have some very skilled pilots.

If we go outside of the houses, though, some of the absolute best fighter pilots I've ever seen were Das Wilde and The Keepers. Keepers do have a slight advantage with our light fighter (the VHF and bomber are no better than human counterparts), but I've seen - and been in - battles where keepers were outnumbered three or four to one, and still managed to destroy everything thrown at them. Similar situations have happened frequently with the wilde - and they manage to do all of that in the relatively large and slow rheinland wraiths.
