The fairplayer, I don't need to hunt for each blue message. Nor do I let my wingmen gank if I'm in the position to prevent it. Though I'm elitist enough to shoot people for violating common RP behaviou.

Yes, everytime I'm heavily outnumbered and ganked. For most encounters not though.

Which one do you prefer most in other people (i.e. earns your respect)?

RP. I'm here because it is a RP server. If I were simply looking for PVP I would go somewhere else. Being skilled in both is nice, but I'd rather like someone who loses every fight bur can offer an awesome RP instead of the other way round.

I consider myself a pretty damn good roleplayer. I've got good vocabulary and grammar, I have a good memory which lets me keep track of other people's RP as well as my own, and I'm a very good writer, with probably more stories on this forum than the bulk of the community.

When it comes to PvP... I'm average at best. Of course I'd like to be better at it, because 99 times out of 100 RP boils down to a PvP engagement, no matter which way you try to steer it.

Many people seem to forget the fact that this is a space action shooter, the game mechanics are based around combat, not roleplay. No matter how much we want to force RP into it as the top factor, it's still a game about fighting, this isnt hello kitty island adventure where you roleplay cuddling with everyone. You shoot them, and you shoot them dead, or if you suck you get shot dead, no way out of it.

I definitely look up to many of the ace pilots on the server, and if there's one thing many of them have in common (and I do not mean this as an insult) - it's that their RP is not the best out there. They're far from being lolwutters, but in most cases it seems they exchange top end RP for the ability to kick arse and take names =P

all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.

I am no ace pvper in FL but I killed quite a sum of guys with my nom, after RP, before RP, etc. None of them liked it.

I rped LOOTS of events, most being the leader in the event (game master), everyone sent kudos afterwards and over skype etc.

So, people want you to entertain them and majority are not hotshots to enjoy a massive dogfight.


And quite frankly, for me, RP talent is more universal, something that you can apply to many different games while FL PvP skill is... FL pvp skill. I can probably beat any player here in a Tie Fighter sim but that talent also is... Tie Fighter talent.


RP skill is like being the author of a book. I like to write stories, be creative. PvP in FL is far from being creative due to its "action for dummies" kinda dynamics. No shield control, one button repairs, no realistic physics, no real weapon preferences, no missile fooling, no generator take outs and so and so and so.

EDIT: Even Anakin Skywalker's pod race had more realistic controls and emergency feeling, creative approach etc in SW EP 1.
