As you might know i am currently busy rendering all freelancer discovery 4.84 ships in high quality and high resolution. Thread

Since this might take a while, i decided to make and post up a tutorial on how to do it yourself. There are some things you need, of which a .cmp importer/exporter. You can find this here or here. After downloading, just extract and copy the file to the milkshape installation folder; default: "C:\Program Files\Milkshape 3D 1.8.4"

If you want to adjust the colors, you will need a dds converter tool. You can find this here

Enjoy.

If you experience any kind of error, look at the troubleshooting guide in post #4. If the error is not mentioned there, don't hestitate to send me a pm.

Troubleshooting
1. When i try to import a ship into milkshape, i get these weird arrows all over the model. I can't remove them, and they also show up in 3ds max when i exported the model.

This error can be solved easely. When you are in the cmp importer window, you go to the "hardpoints" tab, and deselect "import". After this being deselected, it should work like a charm.
