There are hundreds of things that don't make sense.

For instance, why do they all speak fluent english? Being so proud and all, about their culture?

Freelancer doesn't make sense bro...

making a commodity that would imitate different currencies would be risky to travel with. you ever take a hundred credit cards worth one million credits and roam around the universe with it? no .. you just have them safe in your neural net. otherwise its just a provocation to be ganked and robbed by pirates.

Too true, if a pirate ever sees someone with a 10 mil credit card walking around omega, they're either demand it out right or intimidate the pilot into running, whichever one is more entertaining.

It is indeed true freelancer doesnt make sense.

The Alliance (USA, India, UK, France, others) Would have nuked the HELL out of china and russia. Then' we'd all be dead because of nuclear winter. Freelancer really does not make sense. People are far too nationalistic to be made of two groups. Religion, Politics, other things would have made the governments of both these huge masses of countries/ethnic groups come crashing down.

What exactly IS Liberty, Kusari, Gallia, Rhienland, Bretonia, Hispania? They're all representative of their countries. Why' wouldnt they colonize Sirius and call themselves the Alliance?

Sure I seem like im going off topic, but it relates back to the "One Money System World"

Not to mention the credit problems with Gallia, it is simply a game mechanic.

There's a rumour in Gallia, if you'd do some digging...
This isn't exactly it, but it's the gist:

"The Gallian and Sirian Neural Nets are actually backwards compatible. They were based on the same Alliance computer archetypes, and can interface because of that."

' Wrote:Gallia has been disconnected for centuries, how do they have the same standardized credits as the rest of sirius ?

There is no need for currency, credits are virtual money. Even in the real world with Pounds, Dollors, Euros, etc. We use an alternative, our Credit Cards, I can take my Visa and use it in any country. And yes I konw the exchange rates fluctuate, but your Visa acts like the Sirius Credit system, you can use it anywhere.

So in Sirius there is no currency, its all electronic. Gallia could reprogram their system to adapt very easy, the only change would be what you could buy and for how much. But as in the real world, when you go on Holiday and buy a meal with your Visa card do you notice that that locals are using different money, or do you just punch in your pin and enjoy your meal.

So with a sophisticated nueral net, adapting to Sirius Credits, would be easy. In the real world, if a shop owner in say Iraq wanted to sell to tourists all he would have to do is sign up with Credit card providers, then is does not matter what the local currency is, only whay you can buy. If we can do that in this real World of ours then in Freelancer it would be a lot easier.

Everything Gallia uses has to be explained in terms of Sirius since the game mechanics are limited to the basic system. Yes, Gallia has its own currency. But that currency can be converted and used through neural net credits, the only problem being the flat rate which it translates to Sirius Credits. You'd think being isolated all this time, the rate would be different...

uhm well... you screwed the temporal order: first they formed the Alliance, then they colonized Sirius sector after fleeing from this solar system (just watch the FL intro movie again)

and from the wikipedia-entry for Starlancer:
Quote:It is the year 2160. Mankind has colonized the solar system and two political entities have emerged: the Alliance consisting of American, Australian, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, British and German forces, and The Coalition of Russian, Chinese and Middle-Eastern interests. The game begins with a surprise attack on Fort Kennedy, where a peace treaty turns into a bloodbath: all of the inner four planets are overrun, including Terra herself, and the Italian and French fleets are utterly lost.
[...]
Starlancer's story is continued in Chris Roberts' Freelancer project

Okay now i start wondering where the french in FL come from;)

Another riddle: How did Gallia build Trade lanes and Jump Gates? This is Ageira Technology and they never failed to recover a white box:P

just an advice for the future: do not confront fantasy or science fiction with too much logic - it is likely to kill a big part of your own gaming experience

Don't you think that this discussion is pointless. Game mechanics is what it is and can't be changed. If you wish to crate special currency for all houses which is impossible and not necessary.

And if you need explanation for Gallic Credits that is simple. All transaction are based on nural-net transfer which was invented before great war between Alliance and Coalition. Now the system is still operating on both sides (Gallia and Sirius) and as perfect system it can easy exchange Sirius Credits to Gallic currency.

Is that enough for RP ?
