Lafiel looked as the Ex Order Commodore approached the table and began to say his piece. She listened patient and calm as it was fair to hear his side of the story. As she listened she began to wonder for the fire in her heart had been born out of outrage upon his murder of Bretonian people and the injustice of such cruel actions against the people she dearly loved. Upon listening to his next words it was not till later that when Oliver explained to her the repercussions of what Christopher had said and why what happened next did.

"I relinquish my serves' of protection that I bestowed upon you, due to your assumption that I purposely 'murdered' pieces of scrap metal the only treason to the crown I did was destroy civilian and Government property in which case I was acting out of self defense" said Christopher. As these words left his lips Oliver instantly saw the threat that one of the deadliest weapons in this room stood a mere three inches away from the Countess. His hand had moved one fluid movement like lightning at inhuman speeds for even the eyes of everyone around had not followed his right hands movement until in his hand was the largest handgun Lafiel and many others had ever seen pointed directly at Christophers chest. Oliver had of course pulled from its holster his most favourite weapon it was his .722 Calibre custom made non standard issue pistol weighing 6 kilograms and of an overall length of 15.5 inches it had been designed on the very odd case that one might need to punch holes through ship hull though he had customised the overall plan to make it for general use.

Olivers voice was cold and his face emotionless, "In the interest of Countess Tarrants safety you will step back immediately and maintain a distance of 15 feet. Failure to do so will result in your immediate termination. Any sign of an attempt to retrieve a weapon will result in your immediate termination. I would do so already in the interests of the security of the kingdom of Bretonia knowing full well what you are. You pose a great internal threat to the realm but I stand by my charge as is my duty and leave your fate to be decided by that of the Commander Silsbury and her associate though I am greatly surprised by there lack of action already for sitting on ones laurels is not becoming of the Commander and the veterans of our police force so close to New Scotland Yard it truely reflects great incompetance. Now step back Dangen." Olivers blue eyes pierced that of Christophers never wavering always aware of were everyone was in the room and what they were doing his gun never straying from the mans heart as he bowed to the countess and nodded to Oliver retreating to his original place.

In Lafiel's mind as she thought over what the next best course of action was she realised she had already known what she must do as it was her duty as nobility of this realm to protect its people and all of that which belonged to them. She decided to get up and act upon this thought for Christopher must be taken in or removed from the realm. Lafiel almost jumped from surprised as she suddenly found herself sitting again as Olivers hand wrapped gently but firmly around her wrist returning her to her seat Lafiel with shock looked at Oliver who spoke short and sharp in a lowered tone so that only those close by could hear, "Sit Lafiel. enjoy yourself it is in your best interests that you stay seated for now young lady." Lafiel grimaced at him she decided to co operate till she could think of some way she could fulfill her duty and at least stop Christopher from being a threat to Bretonnia. Lafiel didn't respond to Oliver as he let go of her wrist and she returned to the tea and shephards pie.

In truth Oliver had pre-empted that the countess would make some sort of move he understood that she didn't quite know what sort of danger she was in she was always very innocent too innocent she could be hurt or abused so very easily. Her strong sense of what is right and doing the right thing would have most probably made her move to take some sort of drastic action to protect the realm or do what she could to protect all the lives within this room. Ever since that incident at the oxford crescent involving firearms, torture and a lot of blood that wasnt hers ended up on her she had become rather wary of firearms to the point she became hysterical and highly unpredictable. Knowing all this and a lot more Oliver had calculated many scenario's in his mind of what would happen and how best to resolve it without the countess falling to harm.

The hooded woman looked over at this, intrigued. As the conflict ended, she looked back to her coffee, recently ordered. She was an intriguing member of the bar, because, now that Christopher was known, she was the only one who remained anonymous.

Lafiel watched Oliver unsure what to do about him as she observed him the gun had been returned to its hidden place on his person it was almost like magic one minute the gun had been there aimed upon the ex commodore till he had sat down the next the handgun had vanished again and Oliver had began attending his tea once more taking up a paper and begining to read taking leisurely sips from his tea cup. She wondered to herself if Oliver had any cybernetic implants that might increase his speed because it was surely not a human speed to which he had drawn his gun with.

Lafiel whispered to Oliver who quietly sat reading his paper, "Oliver I demand you aprehend Christopher Dagen he must be taken into custody before he hurts someone in earnest." Oliver took a bite out of his eclair and turned the page of his paper maintaining the low level volume of the conversation, "My charge is you my dear and that is all I care about at this very moment Commander Silsbury can deal with the young man." Lafiel frowned, "But she isnt trained like you Oliver she will just get herself killed, you know what he is a man made creature that resembles a human and an ex order commodore a great threat to the realm. Do you not believe so for he must be going insane to attack Bretonians he was my friend he protected me when those phantoms came. Please do something honour demands it. Its the right thing to do and if you do it no blood will be spilt" Oliver made no response and turned the next page.

Lafiel realised it would be like a game of chess she would have to find someway to counter Oliver so she could reach her goal. "Oliver I want to brush my hair I will be back in a moment." Lafiel Smiled as she spoke getting up and tucking in her chair as she went over to her fathers coat on the coat rack. She suddenly jumped from surprise as she slid her hand into one of the many internal pockets and her fingers brushed against something sharp then something smooth. She opened the coat some more pulling the item out of the pocket into the light to her shock it was one of fathers armed forces issued hand guns she almost freaked as her mind suddenly went racing she felt a bit light headed she could almost feel the violence and hatred crafted into the weapon she put it back retrieving the sharper object which had turned out to be one of her fathers straight razors it's blad wasn't folded like it should have been. She folded the blade against the handle like it should have been her curiousity more than satisfied she put it away and found the right pocket pulling out an ornate little comb she suddenly realised that she didn't know were the bathroom was so she could use a mirror to comb her hair and she was very uncomfortable of the idea of combing it in public in a pastry shop so she went and sat back down next to Oliver placing the comb on the table. Smiling to herself suddenly forgeting the incident that had just occured involving the ex comodore she wondered if Oliver would comb her hair as lady Mertel wasn't around. Her mind lazily wandered she almost giggled as she began pondering how lady Mertel and her were so very much like sisters.

After a moments thought she got her PDA and sent a message to Lady Mertel if she were on planet New London to come to this establishment it truely was lovely.

Frowning at the Young Countess antics Calvert began the adding of odds. If it went down to a firefight he knew he could rely on Lucy, the smattering of constables scattered around and also several members of the SRD he knew were on standby in the Hub. Unfortunately he had not only Lafiel and her unnamed aggravation to deal with but also Oliver (who he presumed would do his job and get Lafiel out of here quick smart) and to top it all of nicely there was a complete unknown, hooded no less in the shop as well. If things got nasty there would be a ton of paperwork to fill out.
Regardless he was going to have to take a closer look into all involved here. Lafiel would be superficially easy to investigate but realistically hard to even peek at the inner workings of nobility. The shady looking fellow was initially going to be harder, but by the looks of it Lafiel would be happy to divulge her knowledge and if Calvert's gut was right MI5 or worse MI6 would be interested. The other wildcard in the pack was the hooded woman, who had crosses or plus shaped cut out of her gloves. With a sigh he eased his heap holster into a more easily accessible position. "I sure as hell hope this doesn't go down hill" flashed thorough his thoughts as he sipped his tea.

The young man sat where he was peacefully sitting there like nothing had happened as he exposed his writs as he held it in front of him, it had a odd object on it which could easily be mistaken for black skin which had a faint and dark glow to it, he move up to his eye as they stayed golden with a black rim seeming to see things they didn't as he moved his hands through the air slightly before sitting back as he looked into nothing seeming his eyes were going from left to right moving ever so slightly down wards.

It wasn't long before his happy existence turned into a sour one was his jaw clenched and a furious look and his eyes turned black, getting up he moved and left one of the people of his past behind for now she'd never understand what happened

Lafiel knew it she could feel it within her stirring she focused her green eyes upon the table and then her PDA just as the first tear ran down her face. He was her friend he was meant to be her friend it wasn't meant to be like this. Why why had he done this he was meant to be her friend, she had even accepted him as her guard at one time, he wasn't meant to be like the joker. Yet even the joker had excuses he was insane an had just not perceived Lafiel as a threat or so Oliver had said explaining how she had been lucky with such interactions. This was different Dangen knew conciously what he was doing he had attacked Bretonian's and disregarded their own authority in their own realm. Had he even been a friend at all then was he just using me attacking the weakest link what was his purpose to draw her in as a friend then destroy that which she loved once he had what he wanted.

She turned to Oliver her voice soft the hidden emotion lay just beneath the surface but it was clear to be heard for those that heard her whispered words, "Uncle could you please comb my hair there doesn't appear to be a mirror around and I am not sure were the bathroom is in this establishment." Oliver gave her a side long glance that said it all it was cold and mechanical there was no warmth in it the no was clearly evident he obviously felt it not an apropriate time or place. It was Lafiel that could only see the true emotion that lay beneath the depths of the facade there was at least a spark of fire that needed to reach out to her a paternal instinct maybe as one would look at a child or maybe it was that Oliver did indeed love his niece for all he was allowed to get close to the charge he guarded. Lafiel just place her hands in her lap looking at the ground.

"I'll do that for you kiddo." A warm voice said from behind Lafiel making her jump with surprise as Sophia Tarrant spoke. Lafiel turned around in time to see Sophia pulling up another chair to the table placing herself inbetween Oliver and Lafiel. Lafiel's expression had been grim from brooding as she regarded her older twin who wore an armed forces uniform the little metal emblem clipped to her collar denoting her rank of captain. Sophia was almost identical to Lafiel the only major difference between them was their height Sophia stood a lot taller than Lafiel yet there was also a few noticable differences in Sophia's face her features were a lot sharper and pronounced to Lafiel's softer innocent looks. To Lafiel's innocence and kindness Sophia emanated strengh and command just like their father. Sophia could be mistaken as sometimes being far to reserved yet for all that she may not openly display her emotions and appeared to be withdrawn she was held in great respect were ever she went for her abilities as a captain. Unlike Lafiel who had decided to follow in their mothers footsteps and join the foreign office and a government career, Sophia had followed their father and joined the armed forces though this hadn't been known till the family had been truely reunited after the accident.

Sophia gestured to her sister and Lafiel came over with the comb in her hand sitting on her lap almost like a child would she was innocent to the opinions around her. Sophia took the comb and began running it through Lafiel's golden hair. It would have been an amazing spectacle for Sophia's crew on the destroyer she commanded to have seen this phenomenon it might very well have shocked them to see that under all the outer exterior Sophia was a kind loving human being with a warm heart that did infact hang up the captains coat when off duty. Sophia gazed around the room surreticiously while focusing on her sister she noticed the off duty officers from the BPA, Christy behind the counter and Dangen about to leave. Sophia just nodded at Dangen who she had known from various records as well as from her sisters accounts of him, she even thought she might of seen him at Lafiel's party though he looked a lot different to his picture on the file labeled Christopher Dangen Order Commodore which had been strange as the file had only recently been made.

It took her a moment to realise something was up the stiffness in the air the BPA officers were tense one officer in particular a superintendent by the looks had his pistol ready to be drawn from its holster. Sophia let out a small sigh steeling herself ready to draw her own hand guns, Lafiel hadn't said anything to her about there being a room full of gun tottering maniacs on the verge of drawing and getting people killed. Even Oliver looked adjetated which wasn't a very good sign at all. Sophia smiled to herself was Comander Silsbury going to commit treason and attempt to kill her sister and Oliver before staging a coupe in New London. The thought did amuse Sophia as she wasn't entirely sure either Lafiel or herself could die. In addition that was all that Bretonnia needed a second civil war and for the armed forces to be distracted a second time there would be no recover for it to happen again she shrugged off the thoughts as she decided Silsbury wouldnt be quite that stupid. When she noticed that Lafiel's face glistened and the trail were tears had once flowed were present.

"My sister why do you cry are you alright." Sophia asked placing down the comb on the table. Lafiel looked up into her sisters green eyes her voice was inconsistent as it struggled with the sadness and pain within dancing even with hints of anger the rarest emotion to ever cross Lafiel's mind, "I realise on this day and on the many days since I have known Dangen that I am played fool and am far too blind to see with my eyes that which is before me. That I disarmed my true protectors and guides to stay their hand when I should have let them take me from harms way for truely I must be a weak link. Dangen has used me and I am decieved for it is obvious that what ever information or thing that he required he has now gotten and that I could only be a weak link and become his tool to which to aquire his means to an end. For it is clear that he is of no friend an that his purpose must of been in fact ill for he openly disregards and attacks ones people to which one loves, and serves who's duty it is of mine to protect such people. To which I have cast them unto the flames for being that mans pawn. See you not the report of his attack upon the armed forces and upon civilians whom commanded him to not enter into Omega 49 it is clear he has no love for mankind or respect for life for many lives could have been killed an it is not his place to command authority of a foreign realm but respect it." Lafiel gestured it hurt her as she did at Dangen openly.

Lafiel suddenly felt the urge to run upto Christopher Dangen an not let him go for it was all wrong and should she be able to make her friend see clearly again that it would be in his best interest for it truely cut deep to see a friend go. It truely was in her innocence that made her do what she did completely unaware of the danger she was in by getting close to this rogue order operative or the fact that most people in the little pastry shop seemed to be very trigger itchey and all carried armaments of some sort. Lafiel got up quickly side stepping before Oliver could react and was to far away now for her sister to intervene.

Lafiel gracefully walked upto Christopher suddenly intercepting him both her petite hand placed upon his shoulders as she gently shook him she spoke her voice a mixture of emotion, "Were you ever truely ones friend or have you always been of ill and malicious intent to decieve and use me for your own ill meaning agenda and to destroy that which I love once you had what you had what you wanted." This time the tears didn't stop and for all the presence of her sister was a pillar of strengh from which she drew it was not the monolith that was their father. Lafiel shook him harder enough for his hood to fall back as she continued, "Why why why why! Why did you do this all! Am I truely that blind and you that evil, do you truely hate all of human kind that much! To throw all that is good in this world away is it truely worth it to go down this path? Her heart despaired as her emotions were a whirlpool she suddenly couldn't stand touching him it was like touching fire it sent her head spining but she endured the whirlpool inside of her.

As Lafiel had touched him, his black eyes and fists unclenched, having hazel eyes he looked at her, she had actually caught him off guard and a slight twinge of pain went through him seeing her cry, she was one of the very few people he had a choice of not killing or killing for his own will had been striped from him the day they had come for him, he didn't know what had happened when she was shaking him he was scared he might of hurt her but just as suddenly at the thought occurred he was hugging the sobbing and so innocent girl. "I don't have a choice any more Lafiel..... I'm nothing more then a Pawn of my masters, I've never wanted to betray you Eras Tarrant, my reason for being around you was to protect you, there was no using you." He would let her go knowing that Oliver or Sophia may grab him and he wasn't wanting to hurt one of the last connections he had to his old self, for he had hated his self after what his masters had done to him. he pulsed his hand in and out of a fist as his eyes struggled to stay hazel as he thought of something he hated and the one word he had come to hate with a burning rage.

Lafiel felt shocked as she suddenly found herself embraced she had given no resistance and had returned the hug at first it seemed so natural to hug a friend or anyone for that matter. As seconds passed it hurt her deeply it started within her invade her being she felt cold she placed her hands on his shoulders and pushed against him summoning all her strengh alas she was too weak to remove him from her and free herself from the embrace her mind rocked like a boat in a storm it was genuinely hurting her.

Lafiel heard his words now they made her more sad but in defiance to the pain inside her she bit back a scream though her face was now contorted in pain and imparted wisdom upon his ears in a ghost of a whisper, "There is always a choice Christopher though it may not always be seen through clear eyes. One is only a pawn when one has surrendered and stopped fighting when one gives freely of oneself unto that which would destroy you for no living being is truely mastered unless they give of themselves that which must be protected. For by no measure of pain, or overshadowing will power can a living being be truely dominated unless they give unto a foreign master their soul."

Lafiel tried her best efforts to gain free of his embrace not to any success she felt like the air around her was being compressed that the walls around her mind were being pushed in an in her heart she felt cold not from pain but from fear as she spoke she hid the fear deep down and tried to make her tone as neutral as possible only to have her voice betray the strain in her voice with a hint of pain and fear, "Let go of me please your hurting me." As Lafiel gain free she took two steps back and suddenly felt like a whoosh of fresh air the feeling of being crushed from within her mind had stopped yet her body felt weakened as she stepped back she wobbled slightly unsteady on her feat. She spun on her heel and began walking away before spinning back around as she got halfway to her table again. Her smile was grim between that of care for a friend that once was truely recognised by those words and the looming threat but when she spoke she spoke so all could hear her, "I would sooner see my own destruction than to fall from grace and succumb to a malevolent force to yield unto such a master and sacrifice all the lives of humanity. For there is no greater price in this life than that of taking the life of another, for life is the purest most beautiful, precious treasure through out all the stars and no single living entity can be brought back once its life has been stolen from it. Only someone truely evil or twistedly malevolent would be weak enough to turn upon such a precious thing you need but see the wars around us although the four founding houses of sirius may be blind unto the right way of preserving life they all fight for it till their last breathe." Lafiel suddenly felt her body weaken her voice continued in but a whisper, "To be alive is to understand how precious life to be human is to appreciate it and ones duty to respect and protect it. It is only the weak that stray from this path for it is not weak to value life and should we meet again on different terms I will not hesitate to do all in my power to stop you even should it mean the cost of my own life."

Lafiel turned her back on him for the last time as she headed towards her table her legs gave way and she collapsed. Sophia was at her side before Lafiel could even touch the ground her arms wrapped around her as Oliver got up Sophia put a hand out to hold him at bay and gesture for him to sit down again for she knew even before it had happened that Oliver had drawn his gun and was miliseconds away from firing it. Sophia stared at Christopher her eyes a flame her hand returned to Lafiel as she held her motherly ready to protect her sister and kill who ever should come near. Oliver sat down again not quite holstering his gun prepared for what ever should happen next.

It was in the cold silence of the room that Sophia heard her little sister speak directly into her mind unbeknown to anyone else, "I am fine just a little disorientated, it is almost like his very presence is smothering an strange its not like everyone else in the room." Lafiel eyes fluttered open again as if she were groggy. Sophia moved to sit down back at their table cradling her sister with one arm as she got a small flask out and poured a clear solution into a teacup mixing it with tea before bringing it to Lafiels lips and helping her drink it even though Lafiel resisted. Sophia felt almost amused that the touch of her little sisters mind the colourful images that she suddenly found dancing in her own mind as Lafiel spoke again the same way protesting, "Its bitter!". Sophia's smiled at the innocent young lady that she cradled as she responded in kind to her sister speaking with her mind, "Drink Lafie, yes I know its bitter but it will help you regain some of your strengh. My ships doctor gave it to me in case I found myself in the snow an ulikely situation though I do believe."

The sudden tension in the room broke again as Sophia busily attended her sister while Oliver returned to his paper for the fourth time as he signaled for more tea to Christy. None of them paid attention to the officers especially Miss Silsbury as it was decided a long while ago by Oliver and Sophia that she had developed some kind of strange personal hate an vendetta against Lafiel who seemed none the wiser and held her at a level of some regard. It had been Olivers offered thoughts that she was just playing childish politics and suffered from small person big ego complex which frustrated him to tears as it was extremely unproffesional although if he did know anything more about Silsbury he never let on.

He watched Lafiel seeming to be emontionally dead his hand had been on a wrist blade and he knew he could act faster then he did but he watched Sophia now instead as she held him at bay. "She doesn't take complications like my sister into account, Nobles understand nothing but fairy tales...... that is all she sees in her eyes..... but you don't." He would leave after that with no interruptions leaving them behind.

Christy had been a very bad person. In the interests of retaining (and attracting more) customers she had purchased a shipment of tea smuggled out of Kusari to replenish her depleted stocks. This may have gone un-noticed as Bretonian’s prefer to drink black tea; there was however one person within New Scotland Yard who was rather fond of a modern (as far as tea blends go) concoction known as Chai Masala. This brew has the base of green tea with subtle blends of almonds, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and sometimes saffron.

This would have gone unnoticed also if the green tea hadn’t been laced by advanced compound known as Faze, A substance that had been developed by the chemical genius of Commander Silsbury’s mother, Amanda. Project Faze was put into the green tea supply that was often shipped to the Kusari Navy bases. The effect was drowsiness, severe headaches and loss of concentration which grew steadily worse upon repeated exposure to the compound. The reasoning behind this was to damage the effectiveness of Kusari combatants in space and it worked quite effectively, for close to half a year in fact, until the high command cottoned on and clamped down upon ration shipments to their troops.

Pilots having absorbed a lot of the toxin would have to wait a similar time before the substance worked its way out of their system allowing them to fly again; so the project was not a complete failure.

Commander Silsbury suffered identical symptoms, her cold and slightly angry personality was exacerbated, she found it hard to concentrate and was plagued by splitting headaches rendering her almost useless in a combat situation. She realized that something must have been causing it; her suspicions were aroused even further when it became apparent she was being monitored by some outside force.

Eventually she reached a point where she lost it amongst a large group of well to do people, her mysterious shadow materialized and was about to remove her from the scene when Silsbury’s companion Sergeant Sykes appeared and turned the tables.

They took the offending person back to The Hub which, interestingly enough, was the work place of said person.

Inspector Morgan, after originally being deemed nothing but a rather creepy individual by the Police Commander, soon began to arouse suspicions. Little things at first but nothing concrete enough to name him as the person who had placed audio receivers in her apartment or accessed her medical report illegally.

After some interrogation, cross checking and the legally required ‘phone call’ it was revealed that Inspector Morgan was in fact an MI5 agent who had been tasked to track the spiked tea back to its source. The source was soon discovered but upon realization that Silsbury was the only person who drank that specific tea it was decided to let the effect run its course to see the effect.

Morgan was there to make sure that it didn’t end up affecting anyone else and to detain the Commander if the symptoms grew to the stage where she was a danger to the public and herself. The plan was then to do an advanced medical check to see if the toxin was doing its job correctly (MI6, the commissioners of the regime, had not tested it before its release due to time constraints).

Faze does not leave ones system immediately. Its bonds will gradually break down and slowly fade away. This does take a very long time, over which the effects are still felt. There is one way to remove all traces within 16 hours however, a very painful and risky process developed but not refined by Amanda Silsbury (she also hoped to market a much diluted version of the formula as a health product after the war).

This process was known as Purge.

Lucy chose this option.

The Purge worked, it left her emotionally and physically exhausted and she took a month of sick leave on planet Curacao .

Project Faze was a partial success but no more formula was made or distributed in that war. Inspector Morgan was released and is probably working on another assignment now.
Christy is even more scared of the Commander and Lucy is back to her usual self.

Unfortunately she had to inhibit her usual self at this moment, she had been explicitly warned by ex-commissioner Douglass that she couldn’t be seen loosing it at another noble. Being challenging and cleverly insulting was part of her job however and she intended to exercise her cutting and eloquent vocabulary to the fullest extent.

She arrived at the counter and looked Christy in the eye. The patron looked down almost immediately, she was very lucky the Police Commander hadn’t arrested or fined her for purchasing smuggled goods, especially as those black market goods had caused the consumer huge amounts of pain and inconvenience.

Silsbury was angry at the woman behind the counter but she had decided after her initial confrontation Christy was sufficiently sorry to warrant the Commander giving her nothing but a very serious warning.

“Christy, I’ll have two cinnamon swirls and a large hot chocolate – extra strong.” Lucy said flatly. “Yes Ma’am!” Came the reply and Christy busied herself with the order.
Silsbury strode over to the Superintendants table and sat herself down.

Upon enquiry from Mr. Calvert about the recruitment program a small conversation began discussing new training routines for the bolstered Special Response Division.
Their tea and pastry’s came and the talk continued until it became apparent that once again Lafiel Tarrant was going to make a scene.

Silsbury’s lip curled slightly in disgust when Christy offered free tea and pastry to the noble, she would have to be informed that such acts were in fact breaches of the fair trade agreement (even if it was perfectly acceptable, the less nobles in Christy’s the better).

As predicted the conversation between her Royal Highness Tarrant and the youth turned ugly and while Calvert watched with his hand on his holster Silsbury leaned her head into her hand in embarrassment.

Why? Why here? Doesn’t she have anywhere else to go? the Commander asked herself in her head. She absently swirled her beverage with a tea spoon staring unfocused at the tendrils of foam swirling like the blades of an ancient cooling fan.

It’s always the same, no matter where she is she somehow manages to make any situation dangerous... The thoughts wafted through her head, Nobles... If Goodmen ever said one useful thing in his life, it was the plain and simple sentence ‘I Hate Nobles’.”
Silsbury was sick of this ridiculous girl traipsing around like she was someone important. In her opinion people were only important if they did something important, being the daughter of someone with land did not constitute the right for her to swan around Bretonia like she owned the place!

A gun was drawn by her ridiculous manservant and pointed at the youth, Calvert looked towards her concerned. Silsbury tried very, very hard to control herself. She succeeded which was a measure of her significant progress since joining the BPA. Had that happened three months ago she would have twisted the gun out of the offenders hand and probably smacked him with it before ordering a few off duty officers to escort him to a holding cell. Now she heeded the advice of the ex-Commissioner and ignored it. That singular effort would have been too much for many people.

Eventually, after a harrying time in which another member of the incapable and insufferable family arrived, the youth left, which seemed to quieten things down a bit. In the time this had taken Lucy had begun breathing noisily out of her nose in frustration and had bent the spoon in her free hand so it met tip to tail, Calvert was watching this his expression a little surprised.

Silsbury ignored the nobles.

It was beginning to become obvious that the ‘ignore what you don’t like and it will go away’ technique was not as effective as she had been told.
She decided to begin afresh her conversation with the Superintendant.
“Mr Calvert, I need to talk to you about some rather delicate matters, please take a seat in the booth and I’ll be with you shortly.”

The Commander stood up and made her way over to the table where Lafiel and her sister sat with the gun wielding man.
She motioned to a nearby Sergeant who was pondering over the biscuit cabinet.
“Miss Tarrant and Miss Tarrant,” Silsbury said unemotionally, “This officer is going to take a statement from each of you detailing why the hell your manservant here deemed it necessary to pull a gun on a civilian, and they better be good excuses...” she said coldly, her unnerving eyes, locked, unblinking.

The Sergeant, one Miss Wentworth, took out a data pad and stylus, looking proud that the member of the BPA that most of the women employee’s looked up to had given her a job.

Silsbury Nodded to the Sergeant slightly and walked off in the direction of the booth.
