Well, is a good thing someone did that - locking New York. If we look into the past they were bout 10-20 players in one system that is known to be 'LOLWUTT'. Sadly a man known to be as A.D.M.I.N. came to save sirius of the infestation - thanks to that guy *points out at kuraine*
So, I got beamed off, out in the outer worlds (Thanks, Kuraine.:)). This saved me an hour or so in travel time. Which brings me to: what to do about getting people spread out.
People are lazy. I know, I'm people, and I'm lazy. It takes time to go from one side of the Sirius-verse to the other. I know why there are no shortcuts (like there used to be back in the days, pre 4.83 or 4 or something) - those pesky power-traders just can't keep their fingers away, and not to speak of the lolwut corsair fleets that took a shortcut (was it in Connecticut, I can't remember ? ) to New York just for the lulz.
The New York system is like its real life counter part; a myriad of people, all with their own agendas, backgrounds, attempted role-play. I'm sure they have fun, all on their own side, on their own behalf. But this mixture of wills and different people leads to utter chaos. Ok, sometimes great fun chaos, but still chaos.
So I understand the decision to close down the system. But, once re-opened, it will go back till the same, chaotic place. It almost always have - with one exception: the No-PVP in NY days. The system was utterly empty, except for the newbies and anonymous power traders hiding from the big bad pirate guys. So what can be done - besides just shutting the whole system down ? Some suggestions have been made, one being that a brand new system should be made, with one-way jumpholes to the main systems in Sirius, for new players to chose their destiny. Is this still a viable option ? Can it be done ? Will it even help ?
In the end, it is up to us, the community to fix this problem, one way or another.
