Djinn walked into the bar and pulled her helmet off, sighing softly as she took a breath of the unfiltered air and brushed her hair away from her eyes, the scent of alcohol filling her nostrils.
"Mmnh....been quite a while, since I came to this place..."
She looked around, as if scanning the room for familiar faces, finding none, she quietly walked toward the back of the bar, sitting in a dim-lit corner and motioning a nearby waitress over.
"Miss....vodka please, straight, but if you have any dates...please, add one for me? I like the way it makes the drink taste..."
She smiled up at the young waitress who seemed to vaguely remember Djinn from months previous, a slight nervous look on her face.
"R..Right miss, if we have any Dates, I'll make sure they grind one into the drink!"
The waitress scurried off nervously in pursuit of Djinn's drink as Djinn relaxed back into her seat and gazed out the nearby viewport.
Valentine waltzed in, threw a smile and wave towards Gizmo and proceeded to pull up a seat next to Djinn.
"Hey babe" he smiled and slipped his arm round her waist, "I think the view is trying to compete with you" he kissed her on the cheek and ordered a drink.
X walked into the room, standing in the doorway as he examined the rabble, picking out the rather obvious machine, as well as Valentine, and Djinn, smirking slightly, he leaned against the wall, resting his rifle against the ground. Familiar faces.... Again.
Death Runner, accompanied by a few men, staggered into the bar looking exhausted. He motioned for his men to grab a seat while Death Runner delivered the news to X. He approached X, and bowed.
"X.. i do believe.. We have never met, but, you knew someone very close to me. He was a sort of Father, to me. He went by the name of Dr. Death. He's dead. He wanted me to tell you goodbye, and, give you this."
DR handed him a little glass cube.
"He said you would remember how to use it, and remember all of it's wondrous.. 'things' it can do.. Heh.... Oh, well, allow me to introduce myself. I am Captain Death Runner. The last of the Death legacy.. shameful.. i know. And to think i caused our downfall."
His face filled with anger, and he went towards the nearest table and began smashing it repeatedly on the floor, while cursing angrily at his brother. After this public display, he sat down and continuously facepalmed.
X walked over to the man, obviously a relative - or creation of the late Doctor Death, taking the cube and examining it carefully...
"So naturally, he gives you an antimatter weapon..... Damnit all. We're lucky you didn't smash it hard enough to break the containment system."
X grunted, sitting next to the man.
"So, do you know what happened to my.... Old friend?"
"Hehehehe! What happened to him? Heh. I'm not entirely sure.. but.. We were at a party on board his vessel. Me, friends, him, several others... Well, when all of the sudden, there's this giant Battlestar hovering right above us. I sware, that thing stretched three systems long at least!... Ehem.. Eh.. ah yes. I hated him, my father. I left. Took his fancy escape pod, and left. Bah.. i should have never even went to the party."
DR scratched his head, then continued.
"I saw it explode. A massive tachyon beam split the ship in two. I thought he was gone.. So.. when the Battlestar left, i looted the corpses. And lo and be hold! There he was. Floating in air. Heh.. He was partly alive. His legs were gone, and one of his arms was no where to be found. He whispered to me the instructions of getting here, and gave me the box to give you."
He sat up, kicked the chair, then sat back down.
"I've been here for a very long time.. I remember when i was a small low-class pilot of a sabre. I had just left Dr. Death, his assistant, and my brother.. So, i took advantage of my flaw that the Doc considered, 'bad' and began to terrorize Liberty. Ahh.. Those were the days.. I still remember the screams, the hollers, the cursing.."
He waved his hands around in the air over-exaggerating the expression.
"AHH! It's Death Runner, they would say. Or my all time favorite, "Oh god no." Hehehehe! Ehem.. But now i am older. My family is gone. Brother died in Alpha.. seems they weren't fond of mercs! Ha ha! The doc's assistant, i assassinated. Meh.. i just didn't like him.. him and his 'peaceful way of living.' PSH! So, bang. Right in the head. His lasts words were, 'Et tu runner?' Don't know what it means, and i don't care... And recently, all my slaves and faithful followers have been dieing one by one.. and now, it's my turn. I'm just waiting for the right time to say 'adios' and mean it for good... But until that happens, floating around in my lovely Storta suits me just fine."
X nods to the man, before looking to the floor, where Spiegel appeared to have a seizure. Fragmented words were heard... leading X to believe Spiegel thought he had shot them all.
