For that very reason Wilde kept ours for a very long time, despite Johann Brunhild pushing me to drop it.

We keep track of ourselves fairly easily. having a small group + active skype chat means we all kinda know who each other is.
Wilde changed ours for one very simple reason. We would enter New Berlin with 2 Wraiths and 2 Rheinland bombers, and start trying to do some RP where we mess with a trader, and have it interrupted by someone screaming "Wilde here!11!!" from across system, ruining our RP. This happened more times then I can count, and I got sick of it. I'll deal with all the re-engaging BH BCs you can throw at me with a simile, but ruining the times I try to be subtle gets me very irked.
RepEx will keep theirs while I lead it. It's too much a symbol of pride.
I have an idea for a factiont (won't ever happen though) in which one wing of it runs without tags. Why?
The reason is simply, the wing that would run tagless is the smuggling wing of the trade division. Why tagless? Not to avoid contact, but for RP purposes. A company wouldn't broadcast it was smuggling and if they don't have faction tags, other people cannot tie them to the parent faction.
Other than something like that, I prefer to run a tag.
I agree with the administration of faction activity since the only way to monitor them would be through forum posts by said faction, which are not always reliable as some factions conduct their business on their own forums more regularily.
At the end of the day, even if you remove faction tags, people will always find another way to metagame the crap out of your faction if they hate you enough.

How hard is it to count "100%"?
My thought is that any organized group without an odd IFF would be best off with a tag. I wouldn't want to lose any of the others I have.
For a group that's supposed to be in-rp less forthright and organized, like Privateers, I could see an argument for it going either way.
I've never minded the Keepers. tag, myself. I tend to not be easy to find, either.
Phantoms it makes total sense (and I have a mental list of all the ones I've seen or heard about, same with Wilde)

Outside of the admin-approved factions, all of which are quite small and keep active rosters on their own websites, or have active skype chat, the official factions on this server should keep their tags for any of the main characters operating in that faction.
Phantoms and Wilde (both rheinland and kusari wilde) have much reason to remove their tags, and they're small enough groups that they dont really need the tags to keep organized or track activity. Their tags were removed with good reason.
Keepers are split on the issue - on the one hand, some of us want the anonymity that comes with not having the faction tag as part of our character names. It lets us venture out without being hassled by the pvpwhores looking to gank and get a cheap kill, it leads to more RP and less pvp in most cases. However, at the same time, I've found it very hard to organize the lot of us when we're online and half of the characters dont have the faction tag. I'm an avid user of /fi (faction invite) to get everyone into a single group very quickly, and it doesnt work without the tag.
I'm not sure if we'll choose to keep the tag or drop it, but both ways have advantages and disadvantages.
All other factions should be keeping their tags in the name, it's the only thing that keeps you seperate from the independents (In the case of the phantoms/keepers/wilde, there are no independents, and there is only one faction for each group, so this is not a concern).
