Well, I this idea came across my mind few months ago. Sadly I didn't have anough courage to post it.
My english is not nearly satisfieing, so please bare with my mistakes. If some unclarities arise in my writing (they certainly will) please be patient, for I will do my best in explaining my idea to you.
This entire idea is based on human nature, which dictates us to explore. Archaeology is just some form of exploration, just that it focuses on things, that have allready been forgotten.
Well, despite the fact, that Rheinland is at war, there might still be a wish for archaeology. Probably most of the events were well recorded since the Sirians have advanced technologies, such is neural net. Despite that some happenings might still be shrouded in darkness, as the archives might have dissapeared over time.
That narrows the choice for possible archaeological sites, to only a few hundred years after the humanity arrived to Sirius. Furthermore my RP tends to focus on Rheinland and the Omega systems. This narrows the choice for exploration even more. By using the timeline of Sirius I chose from following event:
Von Rohe dissapears in Omega 11. I couldn't find any information on how did his ship dissapear and where. I could only assume that the O-11 is the final resting place of Lorenz von Rohe.
Almost 700 years later, won't there be some mysteries surrounding his acts, flight details and such things?
So, the idea is to send out a not wery large fleet of research and supply wessels to Omegas in search of possible remmnants. The expedition would focus on the outer regions of the system, assumng that, if his ship was damadged Von Rohe would head away from the red giant, trying to return home, or atleast to escape the radiation.
Planet Deidus is, by common sense, if the info on wiki is correct (the same thing can be noticed in game) far away from the sun. In fact so far away, that its temperature is in fact strangely "comfortable", never exceedig 100 C.
Its frosen poles might still hold remmnants of an ancient ship, still containing its human crew, burried under fine dust.
The only problem is, that the planet itself appears to be as far from the Red Giant as planet Schultz. I'll just presume it's a misspositioned planet, which is in fact far away from the sun. It should be positioned o the wery edge of the map in my oppinion.
The fleet will be composed of many diffrent ships, primaraly dependant on how may players will join the expedition. Most likely the ships will be civillian ship line (repair ship, heavy lifter, transports) and Rheinalnd built ships (RAT, Humpback).
The expedition might have some escorts, depending on how well will we (or I if none joins) negotiate with the Rheinalnd government for funds. The ship eqipment will be dependant on the negotiations. In fact the entire expedition will hang in thin air, untill we get enough credits (in RP not for real) from the government.
Expedition will have purely non millitary nature, or at least I plan it to be such. Ofcourse we never know what the politicsians deide.
RP:
- with the gowernment (Rheinald lawfuls)
- everyone we encaunter in on our journey to O-11 ( supply ships will be flown also)
- everyone in the O-11 (RHA, Daumann, BHG) I hope we won't encaunter das Wilde, I don't want my entire RP to be ended by some blue sqids hidden in their human hostes, which like to kill everyone.
It's happened in Von Rohe Belt (This is why it was called like that)
Quote:Von Rohe Belt >>>CAUTION<<< A field of lava asteroids named after the great Rheinland explorer who initially surveyed the system at the cost of his own life.
Von Rohe Belt is named after him, because he discovered the O-11. He gave his life for exploring the system and the most remarkable asteroid belt is named after him because he explored O-11 and not because he died there. At least I think so.
Chev Wrote:Erm... everyone knows how Von Rohe died.
Oh yeah, all the cool kids know miscellaneous facts based on asteroid belt infocards that warrant little investigation. I mean, everybody who's anybody, at least.
It's also my own hypothesis that the Tahoe asteroid field is, in fact, water from Lake Tahoe which escaped Sol using a device similar to a Sleeper Ship.
