I happen to like -all- the faction leaders there (at least the lawfuls ones I happen to know).
Every time I talk to the leaders of these factions they are tearing their hair out over issues they have -nothing- to do with and cannot control.
The more I see of it the more I see Joe and Zapp having to clean up the lolwut mess, this is while these guys -also- take on extra responsibilities. Such as the bounty board and Joe is also an admin.
At the end of the day both these guys are human and also want sometime to play and just enjoy themselves you know?
sure. Being a faction leader carries responsibilities and it should. However these guys spend so much time doing things that have nothing to do with them or their factions.
also. I see alot of people differing to the navy cause their isn't a real administration.
So...
I might suggest its time to elect a Liberty president. The players vote on people they think are capable and should do. We RP this all out like a typical Liberty presidency. People put themselves forward to take leadership, hale, zapp (and I dunno the LSF leader but you to) pick five of the best candidates for the job and then the players vote on it.
As far as I know, someone was RPing the president, but on a on/off basis. Might be Dusty as pointed out above me, but I am unsure. Been busy in the last days.
Our problem is more about trying to solve things that aren't solvable... joys. Oh well, I'm a though nut to crack:P
I'm quite surprised that some established members are still unaware that I've been leading the faction for the last 2 year Q_o. Not meant to be offensive, just...worrying for me.
With the fates of Houses and their political decisions completely out of the average player's hands... Yeah there's no point. Why RP a figurehead? Worse yet, why RP a figurehead who hasn't "received his orders yet"? One minute you're talking about ending the war with Rheinland, not that you can, and then 4.86 comes out and you declare war on Gallia. "Oh whoops, I meant to say I was going to declare war on Gallia, didn't you get the memo?"

Faction leaders are -in majority- aware of the upcoming RP. Only issue would be to avoid spoiling the surprise

Keywords. Okay so maybe that part of my argument was dumb, but the rest wasn't. You don't have a say in the big picture. Case in point, what are you leading? You're not leading anything.
Yes, we can have our say. If we present it adequately and with proper arguments... like any other debate, our beloved master can change the course of a few things. Though, not 100% of the stuff.
We are not the victims of some kind of storyline dictatorship, dun worry
Thing is, all of the faction leaders are pure figureheads. All of the judicial, legislative and executive power in almost every house lies with the military, intelligence and police forces. In some cases, the corporate heads too, I think.
This is bollocks.
I wanted to RP a politician in Liberty, but I was more or less told that there was no point and it was all predetermined already. Only faction in which a politician is a viable character with some authority is CR.:P(exaggeration, but yeah)
"Things will not calm down, Daniel Jackson. They will, in fact, calm up."
I am sure you can change *some* laws while you RP a politician, I mean house politics don't boil down to "I DECLARE WAR", people are vastly overcomplicating things here.
Take a look at Bretonia and their law edicts. That's something politicians could fight over, the recent law that requires all miners in Dublin to mount an armour of sufficient quality (uni 8 minimum) or be subject to a fine, due to the "Dublin Safety Act" or whatever it's called. There are a couple of other ones which have been posted lately as well, which I will let you find on your own, but the jist of my point is: do not blame the mod if you can't figure out how to RP a politician.
Heck, if I wasn't busy enough with other stuff already, I'd bloody well show you how it's done just to show you that it is possible. Though I don't think I actually need to, after all all you need to do is look at Arvg's RP of the governor of Ontario.
