I was thinking and it left me wondering if anyone has tried to sell a ship...Not like "oh buy this fully repped outcast Sabre." But more along the lines of "Hey LSF, want to buy a Rheinland Wraith?"

More stuff like underhanded deals, getting hands on other ships for technology or intel. Of course in the RP ruleset, I am not sure how to justify something like the LSF 'buying' a stolen or disabled Wraith...probably would need special permission. But I am sure that it is entirely possible to get your hands on a ship from another side. I mean they are disabled all over warzones, I figure some scrapper would come by and start stripping them for parts, or just take the whole ship before the government it belongs to arrives to get it back... then said scrapper sells it to the other guys for a nice bit of cash. (But I figure that the information in the ships computers may be worth more than the parts of the ship itself.)

I dunno, thoughts?

I've always wanted a Fafnir. You've just given me an idea.

* Bazza goes to salvage one from Hudson

A fafnir, faithfully restored using the best hands available to the McDowell Company Fleet, free to terrorise LOLberty LOLcaps in Texas at the whim of her pilot's thought pattern. Excellent.

:)

Ummm....well I am not sure how that ties into my idea.

Well...I guess it does, but it does not give much insight to whether or not it is plausable or dooable

Well, I think that's one of the reasons why the entire ship sale section was moved to flood.

About the salvaging part, well, despite what most people think, it's easier to build a ship from scratch, than to repair a disabled one. Most of the times the engines and systems are fried, and parts of the hull are missing. The Junkers usually take the metal parts and sell them to a smelter.

Well what about selling a starship that just happens to have an intact computer core?
That is what I figure the main reason why a government would want to buy or atleast get their hands on one

This man speaks truth.

But, restoring an old ship to her former glory brings a sense of accomplishment that very little else can.:ylove:

Getting to the original topic; It makes sense that Liberty would want schematics for the Wraith, and vise versa for Rheinland and the Liberator.

But within the confines of the game it'd be quite a tedious exercise to do.

Right.

Actually, military officers won't ever -sell- their private ship. Only for VERY high price. Even if they sell it, they need to cover it somehow. Or run.. in what? In civilian Eagle? No, of course. It's very weak ship (compared to military craft) , in-rp. I know, we all are 'super-pilots', however with RP, nope.

EDIT: Also, person who flies bought ship will be pursued by all forces of House:P

I can see decommissioned ship models being sold to third parties.
