There was repeated, over and over again, here on these foruns, that the trader is not the same as the fighter. You cant use, for example, a pirate for a personal revenge against another pirate who attacked your trader, as this is a common practice for PVP servers. Verginix also said something about that. And Caylith said she was attacked in his IND trader by a Phantom.
Im not siding with anyone here, but I want to known, in clear terms, why the IND, the biggest trader faction on the server, is above such rule, a rule that is not only dictated by the common sense of the players, but also by the server rules themselves, that state clear that non-RP attacks are not allowed, RP here being understood as "role playing", obeying to restrictions imposed by factions allegiances.
I want the truth now.
And the truth will be known by a lot of people. People who got some interest in discovery and want to play it online. As Igiss said, there were more than 5000 downloads of the mod. 5000 people playing, and only some few players in the "official" server, and they still want to have even more few people. What is this? The official server or some kind of a snobbish club?
I want this coming from Hoodlum himself. Not from Nightfall, Supernova or from any other, but by the IND leader. And after that, Hoodlum and his friends will not need to worry about me here, as youll not see me again. Already five or six players leaved the server, and im not counting the ones from the recent flames. I dont care, as my playing was great, even losing some battles.
I was digging some old posts and was impressed by the quantity of people who were playing and simply vanished after some flames. There was a guy who clearly stated there are two types of players: the common, standard one, and the one who is above the rules. And its always the "veterans" with the "you were not here when started", some kind of a cliche phrase to try to rid their opponents of their credibility, who keep the fires burning.
Hoodlum, this is nothing personal. Im just offering you the last penguim. Ive read posts of you that have some good ideas for the mod or for improvements on roleplaying, but since you are the IND leader, I want from you the following information: is the IND the supreme, ultimate, uber faction?
If your answer is affirmative, then the server is yours. Entirely. Everything. Including the pirates. The planets. The bases. The npcs. Just give me two weeks to conclude the story about the Bluedrop Connection, so that I can leave with some roleplaying. Two weeks. You will like this deal, really. You can ask Malaclypse to buy some champagne and start some party because one of the best freelancers in discovery is now leaving, and the name of the server can now be changed from Freelancer Discovery to Clanlancer Discovery, or Ganglancer Discovery, or Clublancer Discovery. The time is running.
Guys, did you read my post? STOP BICKERING. Stop flaming too. Stop arguing. Stop.. POSTING. All its going to do is cause flames, flames, and more flames.
I'm a Disco vet too QV. Would you say I've EVER had a vendetta against you? I've never even fought the Helghast once, and I've helped you many times. Especially concerning Supernova when I tried giving suggestions to lighten the crap that would happen because of his actions.
I have known Caylith, Hoodlum, Virus, Korrd, all of them for a long time here. None of them are the kind of people to hold serious vendettas on a game. Heck, if any of them were to hold grudges or vendettas, Hoodlum would be after my ass every second of every day.
You need to step back and think calmly.
First as I can see it, your having a problem about them getting on their GoR ships to avenge an IND trader. Your thinking its way out of their RP, but it really isn't. There are a few issues that makes this in their RP. First and foremost, is that GoR aids AW, and AW aids GoR. GoR has permission to keep Theta safe from people pirating it IF they want to. AW will do the same for defending Alpha as long as it wouldn't end in war with someone. The GoR have legal right to defend traders in Theta.
Farther, GoR is not hostile to IND. IND has worked with GoR before. GoR makes money from IND, and IND makes money from selling and buying from the Outcasts. They had an agreement, Helghast shot the IND, breaking that agreement, GoR came in to stop the Helghast, and were allowed to via the AW's allowance that they may in Theta.
Your saying you wished Helghast would reform into something wonderful. Well part of your problems are because of Supernova. You just want to believe that everyone is having a vendetta against him. I spent TWO MONTHS trying to get him to clean up his act before he got perma-banned. He wouldn't ever listen to me, then he would go break rules again, insult people, as you can see in this thread, he does it LOTS. You needed to keep Supernova on a leash. You knew how volatile he was, and how prone to violating the rules he was. I warned you of those multiple times in PMs. Once, out of like 4-5 did you say anything to Super. And no matter what, he kept doing what he did. You could have ended all this if you had threaten to boot him from Helghast if he kept it up. Then gone and booted him IF did do it again.
Supernova, you need to just stay out of the arguments right now. Its only helping flame. BFH, same goes to you. This isn't an order, I'm not an admin. Just a suggestion that will make everyone's times much easier. You two can't stop flaming, no offense, just an observation. Something to work on, I'm not going to flame either of you for it.
F_Wolf; Don't make accusations unless you know what your talking about. Read the things above, there are even more reasons than those as to why GoR could do what they did, and why IND can do what they are doing. IND CAN be neutral to Outcasts.
This is a private message that I sent to Caylith, about my opinion concerning this recent problem.
I have to put this in the open, because it can enlighten some people out there about my reasons to say that the IND is a "uber faction".
----
Yeah, I known Supernova acted wrong, but Nightfall did it worse.
Just imagine the following situation: in place of Supernova, Verginix.
And in place of Omicron Tetha, Tau 37.
Verginix and Mista attack a IND trader in Tau 37, and ask him for money. No Supernova pvp-whorish playing. Verginix in a gunboat and Mista in a fighter.
However, there two GoR guys in destroyers in Omicron Alpha, Nightfall and DBoy. The IND guy refuses to pay, them ask the GoR for help in a private channel. The "outcasts" came and blow up a junker and a lane hacker, lane hackers who are supposed to be allies or at least friends.
Then Nightfall switch to his admin char and bully Verginix and Mista.
Can I imagine this situation, Caylith? I can, thats the reason why I asked IND - and GoR for that matter - are above the rules.
Supernova was already punished for insulting you, he even gets a 15 day ban. He can de punished now, fine. But his removal will not solve the problem. Nightfall should be demoted from his admin post. He and DBoy also should be punished for a non-RP attack. If this dont happens, more ruleplaying will happen in the future, and I pretty sure, it will ruin the fun for a lot of people here.
Now, they are using two excuses: Supernova and AW territory. I was going to dock a ship that I was travelling with as I was checking the movement in chat screen, and was ready to jump to the AW ship to stop Supernova, but was all too much fast. Next time that can happen in the Taus with some noob, perhaps even in Alpha with some outcast who is not GoR. Both IND and GoR are "invite only" groups, so we have a real problem here, people want to play, as traders, as outcasts, and this sort of alliance between Interspace Commerce and Outcasts, who is completely out of roleplaying, will cause big desertions from the server. Soon it will be only the IND and the GoR playing, and some noobs who dont known what is happening.
Thank you for your attention.
Regards,
F Wolf
PS: Im putting this message in the open as I think can enlighten some people there.
You guys have 1 hour to resolve this without falling into flames before I commit my last act as a moderator and delete this entire thread.
And yes, I sent a personal PM to Igiss asking for my removal as a moderator. post any objections now if you have them, but I don't suppose you will.....
Fool, haven't you searched the forums? Long before you were here, and before I was here, GoR and IND made an agreement. Look back in the forums. Hood gave a link somewhere. It was completely in RP.
Faction alignments do not affect NPC alignments.
HF are not lane hackers, just lane hacker allies. Most of the time GoR are neutral, but if we fire upon their friendlies, what would you do?
Don't call for drastic measures unless you know what you're talking about.
I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.
RP Story (Still deciding whether or not to finish)
(If you find any mistake in my English, please let me know via a PM)
(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
QV...stay and help us to resolve this issues that u have...if u leave this will happen again to someone else..now u have power to change something...please use it.
Leaving is always last resort...is it really come to that...to last resort?
Hoodlum answered my question in another thread, and I answered him in turn.
This is not the Helghast Message Dump anymore. QV, if you want to delete it, delete just the flames, keep the reports. Olsav can need them.
I want Greylin back, some LSF guys. If Tuetorix want to participate, fine, but I dont like to be too much outnumbered. Some pirates might be necessary for the last engagements. Im also plan to put a battleship, to fit the Kievan Exiles story.
Yeah thats will be great. I will not go simply clicking delete button. I want to go blowed up in grand style, epic battles, heroic deaths, "Victory or Valhalla", as Hessel usually puts it.
Jack Dagger: "Godamn an entire generation pumping gas...waiting tables...slaves to the white collar..." (its from a old char from BK, a pirate, the quote is from Fight Club, probably the only thing I took from movies).
Thanks for everybody who provided the fun...Telicaster and his buddies specially, always taking the pound at my side. Also the guys of SA, specially Razr (was never personal), the KNF (great engagements) and the corsairs I beated in the Omicron Gamma invasion. Well, I need to write a lot, and since english is not my native language it will take some time.
Verg, leaving will prove nothing, just you can take off your sig and avatar and throw them away.
The Helghast's problems stem from one individual, and that now seems to have been resolved. Anything else
is just self sacrifice for the sake of it. If there is more I'm sure you can bring it to our attention ...
As a moderator, I have absolutely no complaints about your position, possibly just stamp on the OOC a little
harder in everyones RP threads, currently this one included.
Stick around, you love your Freelancer, don't deprive yourself please.
