It is my hope that all of the closed NPC groups will be opened up, and hopefully will allow for people to experience a more expansive and rich roleplay experience. I do not believe there should be ingame NPC groups that cannot be player except at the permission of specific people. This is a game with a wonderfully wide array of possibilities to play, and I feel that is one of the most important parts of keeping this community thriving so long after this game should have been forgotten about.
True, you just have nice gear and a generous ID, both of which will attract a large number of players, I would think. Plus a reputation as some of the most bad-ass pewpewers, which also will attract more players of a certain kind. But true, noone will know until we see how it pans out in the game. Kudos for giving it a shot.
However I think I'd better eat my words in relation to what I have been saying about never really having had a trade run I didn't profit from:-)
EDIT: Ah, I see with Gorbatjov at the helm, allowing everyone to fly a Coalition ID is sort of like mimicking glasnost. It all makes sense now.
I'm not of a mind that this will constitute the apocalypse, with the lines so blurred between the Hessians and SCRA the principle alteration to the local dynamic wil be an ease of access for the broadened scope of armaments available to the local red population.
On a larger scale the dictates of how the weapons and ships are perceive to operate will showcase if the scra becomes the pvp faction of choice, just as the outcasts were back in the day.
I do feel that a larger educational infrastructure could be put into place alongside with a clear list of "standing orders" that would provide clear guidance for what is good to go. In my time here I've seen the face and motives if the scra shift considerably, often on an encounter to encounter basis. If players are going to be fr2d it seems to me that fair ground need be provided for them to launch from.
That being said, Cam, Ryoken, Predictum and I will be forming the first rebel fleet in 15 minutes. Stand by.
Alvin, I may have only just returned to the SCRA, and it may not be my 'job', but I'll do what I can to help teach some of the indies about being 'proper Coalitioners' as best I can.
That being said, anyone who'll be creating an indie character, feel free to look for SCRA|Katya.Vaschenko if you need a little advice or want some Roleplay.
I hope the SCRA realises this will likely end up in them being repninjad hostile to virtually all factions on the server. Universal terrorist ID launching out of any freeport does not a balanced game make.

I feel like I should join in with the others and get hilariously angry about the fact that players are getting more freedom and opportunities to have fun, because this is quite clearly a terrible thing.

But in all seriousness, my actual opinion is 'raid Gamma every day'.
