Also if you intend to use BS, try restrciting them to 1 or 2 at most; you can easily blow capitals if you have 2-3 bombers.

Sure thing, Keep in mind though that I'm still tossing around ideas here, and that the plan might change or I may not create the faction at all.

Will be nice to have a helping hand.

I'd suggest Rheinland and Kusari - like I said earlier, Bretonia and Liberty get all the mercs. Rheinland and Kusari give you a relatively wide area to travel in, probably enough traffic (even if it is untagged indie traders), and some local civilian combat vessels for flavor (Tiger Shark LF and Kusari Explorer GB).

Not as many traders as Liberty, but far less competition as well. Less hair-pulling too.

Yea, that does sound like a far better plan. Also enables us to cover larger trading routes.

Look forward to working with you. I don't plan on getting any battleships for the faction any time soon. At the absolute most perhaps a cruiser for support and RP.

Good idea. But consider this:

1. The most important part of escorting is scouting (one trade lane) ahead of the transport. Basically you can do this in a starflea.

2. If you're in a hurry and have to dispose of the pirate sitting on a lane, you can counter anything up to a gunboat in a hf/vhf quite tidily. In the worst case you would need 2 moderately skilled fighter/bomber pilots to down a gunboat.

Anything bigger than a gb can't attack a transport anyway.

3. You're a merc firm. Probably based somewhere, but that base doesn't really belong to you, so... Why would anyone want to "invade" you? I just don't understand why you would need cruisers at all... Actually I don't understand why you would need anything bigger than a bomber. Okay, a few gb's would be okay, and you can use Ahoudori for that. You can do the job just fine with civilian ships. Would be wise asking for factionised guns though.

Just my 2 cents.

EDIT: Oh, sorry, didn't really read that part about "getting dirty", hehe.

So my comment is obviously relevant only to the escorting part of your idea.

But I still think there's no need for any cruisers. If you want to collect a bounty on a cap ship, all you need is a bomber swarm:P

I completely agree. The only reason I was really looking for a cruiser was to act as a support vessel, and to offer suppressing fire. If I do go ahead with this idea, I plan to (If possible) use groups consisting of a Bomber and two Fighters (Or vice versa), or A bomber, fighter, and gunboat. Just to widen our defensive spectrum.


Also, if anyone has any good ideas for a name and feel particularly generous, feel free to post name ideas for the faction here.;) I'm not really all to happy with 'Universal Security'...

I've decided to go with the Mercenary ID, and Border Worlds fighter/bomber line for now. I don't see Border worlds ships around much, and the Civilian line is far to overused.

If we do go for a Support cruiser at some point, I'll have to make an SRP request.

Are they inactive? Or dead? If I want to rebuild them, Do I need to get new Members? If it is completely dead I might try to remake it. If its just a little inactive I don't want to try, I've already done that three times. and all three times it was a case of "Thanks dragon, now we'll do nothing".

Its.. Beautiful! Opens up opportunities for other things too. Like Repair services, resupply services etc. If I call it this, I'll definitely get a Repair Ship. Probably some transports too. Then we can work with Miners to Transport and defend their goods.
